What's your current opinion of BioWare?

I think their days are numbered. It won't be long until things get really, really bad. If they weren't bad already. I thinks its obvious how deep EA is into who they are.

i do not have one. i have a specific opinion of one of their games, which is the only one i have ever played. generally i do not focus on the developers or the producers, i focus on the game and whether or not i enjoy it.

My sole experience with BioWare consisted of the Mass Effect series. If you had asked me several months ago how I had felt, I would have said they were a good game developer. And then ME3 came and went. Obviously it's only one game series out of many that BioWare has produced, but I still can't quite wrap my head around how ME3's ending (such as it was) managed to make it through as an idea, let alone get past quality assurance and other internal company testing measures.

Yes, the games themselves were pretty good - decent gameplay, above average storytelling, characters I cared about - but that ending completely ruined it for me.

Knowing the fate of other EA owned studios, I think BioWare will be dead soon just like many others. EA has a habit of just being plain evil.

R.I.P Pandemic and many other awesome games devs.

Indifferent. I played a couple of their games, namely the Baldur's Gate series, which I liked, but that was pretty much it. Never had any interest in KotOR or Jade Empire, and thought ME was pretty meh. Greatly enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins and thought they might be something worth looking into in the future, only to have that dashed once DA2 arrived on the scene. Now I don't really care. I'm just enjoying myself watching the train wreck they're becoming.

Only ever played that Sonic game they made. It was okay. I refuse to play most shooters where taking cover is constant or if it is shown in the game because it's what ruined the Uncharted series for me. I don't plan to play any of the Mass Effect games because, the shooting means taking cover too often from what I've seen. I do want to try the Dragon Age games, though. If I had a 360, I'd buy Jade Empire in a heartbeat.

No strong feelings one way or the other. I enjoyed Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic and the first entries in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, but everything else has been pretty miss for me. I especially dislike the direction they took Mass Effect in, but the original works well enough as a standalone game that I have a hard time holding it against them.

A fine studio I'd say, I'm just not very interested in the games they're making these days.

ME1 was good for me, lost interest after ME2, then ME3 was okay, better than ME2 for me, but not as good as ME1.

Dragon age origins was great, but the second one was really, really, bad.

So on, they're not my favorite company. They're alright in my book, but not the best.

I've heard good things about the Mass Effect series, but haven't played them myself. Dragon Age: Origins was really good, and Dragon Age 2 was better. Yeah, that's right, I said Dragon Age 2 was better.

Overall, I like them, and I think they get a ridiculously bad reputation that they do not deserve at all.

I'm with Wingus, they're not a bad company, they're just not making games I'm interested in playing. If they keep cranking out action games and MMO's, I'll probably pass on their future releases.

Loved Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, and the Mass Effect series was more good than bad.

The same as nearly every other developer. They're only as good as their last title.

Ice-Pick Lodge and Bohemia are excempt from this though.

I really enjoyed the Dragon Age series, but as soon as a company falls into the hands of EA their days are numbered anyway.
I just hope they manage to make a good Dragon Age III before they kick the bucket.

Mass Effect 1 was good, ME2 was alright, and I liked Dragon Age: Origins as well. I don't really like any other Bioware games.

As for my opinion of them as a company, a lot of their DLC is a ripoff, and their PR totally svcks.

You can say all you want about problems in their games, and all the DLC nonsense, but they're still making tons of money so I don't see them going away any time soon.

I'm looking forward to the free ME3 DLC that hopefully makes the ending slightly less ridiculous. Other than that, there isn't anything coming from Bioware that would interest me. After reading a lot about Dragon Age 2 I don't have a lot of faith in Dragon Age 3.

The only thing close to a Bioware product I'll be buying in the near future is the enhanced edition of Baldur's Gate.

I think they are a good company being [censored] over by EA with release date deadlines and such which are to tight for the projects they are developing.

I also think (and this goes for all companies) they should ignore kinect altogether and just make a good game without the gimmicks. The dev time spent on kinect intergration could be better spent on other parts of the game

They're alright, haven't played many of their games just DA:O, ME1 and 3, maybe a few more that I've not taken notice of. To me some people just take their hobby far too serious.

Their games have more polish but they're just not as dynamic or deep or something.

I still think they know what they're doing but they need to show it. Right now, they are letting easy mode run the way they make games.

They're not even doing that! That's the work of Overhaul Games and Atari.

Bioware is in SWtOR and nowhere else anymore, that's it.

I played their games since MDK but if you actually look at their webpage, it looks to me Bioware had become EA's core development team, developing every new title while EA remained as the marketing department.

Wait, what?

So you prefer to just run & gun down everything? I don't know ... sounds kinda boring in the long run. I very much prefer shooters like ArmA 2, where taking cover is all the difference between "living to see another day and potentially maybe even finishing your mission" and "getting killed by a snipe you didn't even know was there from over a klick away."

As for Bioware ... they're just another crappy EA studio now.

I like having to use cover in shooters like STALKER. It's nice having to be tactical about it, so you can't just rush straight in.

In the case of Mass Effect though, and Gears of War and many other games that people call 'cover based shooters', it's pressing a button to hug a chest high wall that is almost guaranteed to block all damage while you wait for health regeneration to kick in. Pop out, shoot, take cover when taking damage, wait a few seconds for health regen, pop back out again, etc. etc. While in STALKER or ArmA 2 if you're crouching behind something you don't know if it's entirely safe, so you have to guess for yourself what you can hide behind, and health doesn't just regenerate.

The cover based shooting with health regen isn't that fun.

They're not even doing that! That's the work of Overhaul Games and Atari.
True, I'm only mentioning it because the originals were made by Bioware. Or something like that.
