When have you been scared?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:44 am

For the first time, I actually got scared in Skyrim. And not, worrying scared like wondering if Lydia died, like full blown frightened.

The only thing that really scares me in reality is ghost stuff, and demons and such.

When I was in the house in Markarth for the
Spoiler
deadric quest, I was scared, the whole house was shaken, and I thought a damn demon was about to come out of my TV

What about you guys?

Additional Details: Lol, seems fear of spiders is a big one. I'm not one to get scared in video games. But when it was 2 am and I went into the Markarth house not knowing what to expect..My heart was racing, and considering I'm new to the elder scrolls and I had no previous knowledge on
Spoiler
daedra
. I was spooked...that was the only time I was ever 'scared'.

____________Although I do have a weird feeling in my stomach whenever I'm in a Dwemer ruin. All these machines going and working around me make me feel like I'm imprisoned in some SAW movie.

All other times like previously mentioned it was just being startled by a surprise attack.

It was so short lived, preferred way did it in FO3, with Lovecraftian references to boot...

Nope. Can't think of a time when something made me jump.

I knew what to expect in Markarth so that was not scary at all

I might have been scared if I was actually there.

It would be creepy, hearing a god telling you and another person to kill each other, or to have people you've met turn out to be cannibals.

Not only is Markarth corrupt, but they have some unusual people living there too.

If anything would make me "jump", it would probably be a Falmer surprising me in one of their dark caves.

first time i ran into a falmer i almost [censored] my pants because they look exactly like this goblin thing that plagued my dreams as a child. it looked like yoda and a falmer had a baby and it would always try to get me to go into the swamp under my bed or creep up the stairs until i yelled for my mom and laugh at me and call me a baby

Everything scares me. Skeevers, Falmer, Draugr, you name it.
But the only time I was scared outside of a ruin was when a child landed on me in Markath. No, seriously. I was getting out of a building and she falls off I-don't-even-know-where right in front of me.

"HELLO"

Markath is damn scary.

The Falmer remind me of Smeagol/Gollum from LotR. I'm waiting to hear, "My precious!".

Except their creation wasn't so much their own fault, and more two other groups to blame.

It's probably that same child who I constantly see standing in those streams in Markarth. She likes the water, I guess.

It wouldn't surprise me to see her levitate or her head spin.

This one is wary of Giants and their precious herd, even when staying clear, the thunder as they walk in most frightening!

Falmer creep me out sometimes. Particularly, when you have enough sneak to be able to evade their detection when they've patrolled right to your location. I always just sit there at my desk, wide-eyed, perfectly still, and holding my breath, hoping they walk away. Thank goodness they ususally do.

Oh, I forgot another thing the falmer do, and this has startled me more than them patrolling up to me. Exploring one of their dungeons and sneaking the entire time, approaching one of the tents somewhat hastily and finding myself face to face with a falmer who has been standing there like a statue the entire time. Now that I think about it, it's like my first point (them walking up to me) in reverse.

Nothing in this game has scared me, not even when it's pitch black dark in dungeons with mods. And I don't have the enemy markers (red dots) in my HUD.

I do jump sometimes to unexpected things like a skeever suddenly biting my leg when I'm looting stuff.

Fallout 3 was the only game to creep me out since Silent Hill 1.

I like some of the creepier aspects of Skyrim but can't say they actually scare me like FO3 and SH did.

Yes I'm always frightened in Whiterun there's an old hag who keeps harassing me "have you come for a daily good deed" or something like that and I'm afraid she might take her clothes off.

When I was a low level and I first came across a giant camp, they thump the ground you walk on and can thump you for a one hit kill! Scary stuff!

Actually, I had the same now you mention it. I knew nothing of the Giants when I first played and spotted one in the distance wandering about. I approached it and it ran after me, got my heart racing as the whole screen shook. Then it blatted me into the ionosphere with its club and I was like "Whoah!!!

Yes, that was a good first experience. I take back my previous comment.

I was scared as I went first time in a dungeon and go my way, expected nothing from above, and a big spider jumped out of the darkness direct in my character. I nearly jumped out of my seat... My heart was beating like I had to fight for my life
But it was just once, I know spiders coming from above and so it does not harm me anymore.

The was one time that made me jump was when I was fighting a Hagraven I managed to behead her but when I did her face went so close to the screen that it totally filled it up, to then see a blade fly through her neck and her head fly off. Was a slight second were I thought see was coming so close to kiss me lol

When I have been scared in Skyrim?
Never, except for the occational Falmer jumping into my face from above.

The scariest game I've ever played must've been Daggerfall, no joke.
Crawling through those insanely huge dungeons, I enter a small room to see what's there. I turn to my left and literally jump out of my chair as there is this one stupid Werewolf right in my face.
