Whenever some pony is feeling down and out, how do you cheer

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 10:39 pm

The first thing to do is sleep if there's need, and add a lot of varied stuff to the diet. And have coffee or tea, any excuse is good.

Then activity is a good thing, at least for me. Work, arrange/rearrange/clean my place, go for a walk... Anything's better than shuffling or dozing all day.

Either I play Mass Effect 2 (as of now at least), or I listen to my Japanese music.

Well my steps in their priorities in terms of effectiveness and helpfulness when I am feeling down. I do all of them or what is most readily available but in order is what I feel is most effective for myself.

1) Go out and get laid. If I am in a relationship. Go out and get laid...lol jk just seduce my gf, not much to it for me. Good relationship

2) Go out and Surf.

3) Spar with a friend. Jujitsu, boxing, Kick boxing, Muay Thai, etc etc...not that I am much good at any of them but is fun to do if you both have an okay idea of what you are doing. Relieves so much stress for some reason. Plus winning is a huge ego boost and you learn should have learned something if you lose.

4) Get immersed in a narrative. Book, Video Game, Movie, Anime Series, TV Series. etc etc. Does not matter, just something to transport me to another mindset or world.

5) Standard Exercise. I admit I dont do this often enough anymore. Not necessary for me yet by I feel myself slipping lol.

6) Kill [censored] in a Video game, CoD, Halo, Assassins Creed whatever. Feels good to be in control and in empowered even in a video game when you are feeling down.

7) Read non-fiction books. Especially History.

8) Talk to family. My family and only talk to each other sporadically when we are away. Yet we are all super close. Odd that, yet it works for us. Maybe a give some space thing? lol

9) Eat sugary food. I suppose that had to be somewhere in the list.

10) There is some other things that I do like, going out drinking and...rarely one other thing that involves bowls, pottery, combustion and a certain plant...though I usually am not ever doing these things specifically because I am down. More just want too. :whistling:

Wow I really forgot music...yup lets call that like 3.5 or something. lol

And again I forgot Drawing, Poetry and freeflowing. Lets call that art and make it like 4.5.

Doh I also forgot socializing...geez no wonder I am rarely depressed or down...

What are your methods?

I like to draw, make videos for my YouTube account or collecting different figurines (Masters of the Universe Classic, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic or others) .

[censored] I forgot Drawing too. And poetry and free flowing...no wonder I am not very depressed lol or not very often. I have multiple methods to combat depression. Gonna edit that in there.

Usually sleep is the best and only remedy. A good night's rest will clear the cache, as it were.

Barring that I listen to some http://www.hongfire.com/cg/data/25/caramelldansen.swf at very high volume.

In b4 Steampunk posts... crud... he's here already.

:P As for what I do when I'm feeling down, there is really just one thing I don't seem to be able to just shake off quite quickly and that is winter darkness (Probably SAD but I've never had that confirmed so I could be wrong). Always get pretty gloomy over the winter and the only cure is to wait for summer. If I could have summer all year round I don't think I'd ever be too down for too long :)

I play video games and see my dogs.
They mostly run away though, not the games I hope.

Don't worry, it's not Caramelldansen
Quoting myself for relevance. I saw Equilibrium live yesterday, and the second most uplifting thing that happened to me in a pretty long time was when they played that song live. Never expected them to do that, since it's fully instrumental. They shortened it a bit, but it was still very good. Amazing performance.

The most uplifting thing of that day however, was when the played...

... the Morrowind main theme.

Took me a few moments to realize what I was listening to, it was fantastic! Very well received by the audience too, I have a feeling that I was standing in a hall full of nerds. :P

I don't, I just make myself more and more upset/angry until the point it overwhelms itself and becomes happiness/calm. Though I doubt that's helpful

I listen to depressing music. Seriously, it actually helps lighten up my mood. It's like...the music is being sad for me, so I don't need to be sad anymore. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it does.

Listen to positive music, working out has proven to improve your general mood. Watch fun things on Youtube/TV, and ponies of course.

Otherwise i'll just load up Crysis at a specific point I have saved going ape [censored] on NPCs blowing their heads off. Nothing like a good headshot to make you feel happy again.

This, but Minecraft and burning down a house are two separate activities.

Sadistic - deriving pleasure or sixual gratification from inflicting pain on another.

You get sixually pleased from burning down a pixelated house...May I have your brain for, umm, science?
