At which age do you see yourself not playing games like Skyr

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 8:42 pm

It's not about age, it's more about interest. Currently my only desire is to play the total war series. I even purchased the remaining dlcs for napoleon and shogun.

But because the publishers are stupid and don't want my money, I can't preorder their games anymore.

(You can get 1 out of 3 factions as bonus, but only 1 not more and it depends where you preoder it, it's even possible if you want a spefici clan you have to buy the collector edition with additional box art and other stuff...)

InbeforeSummer

I don't see myself ever quitting completely. Maybe at some point I'll be busier with work and family so that I won't have as much time to invest in a long open world game, but quitting games completely? I don't see it happening.

Already stopped. VNs have desensitised me to games. Anything I felt from games, is blown away by the things I feel from VNs. Narcissu reduced me to tears (the manly variety) and for some reason, it felt good. I was depressed, cying but I felt better than I had for some time.

I just hang around these forums becuase they are nice, dont actully play games anymore. I gave most of mine to a friend, the few left will be sold, very soon.

It's important to remember that if older generations tend to see video games as childish, that's largely because they didn't grow up with them. Rock and pop music were seen as entertainment for teenagers back in the 50s and 60s, but there are still a lot of baby boomers listening to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin because, well, why wouldn't they.

That said, attempting to major in physics in college has left me with much less time to play anything, and I can only imagine how much worse it will be when I have kids someday.

The day the breath in my lungs forever ceases is the day I'll stop gaming. :disguise:

I did stop playing games when I was in high school and didn't start playing again until I was a junior in college. I had grown out of the games where you jump platforms and collect coins, etc. And while RPGs were different, I continued to be let down with the newer games. I had grown up on the Ultima series and the newer ones (8 and on) focused more on graphics than good gameplay. Another favorite RPG, Betrayal at Krondor, is still one of my favorite games of all time, but I kept waiting for there to be another game like it and everything kept disappointing. (I didn't know about Daggerfall back then.)

I came back to games when I was a junior in college because they were finally making more mature games like GTA, Resident Evil, Morrowind, etc. The hype leading up to Fable 1 is what got me to buy an Xbox, and though the first Fable was another let down, I discovered all these other games while waiting for it, then bought a Gamecube too, and later an Xbox 360.

RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout 3 are FINALLY what I was dreaming of 15 years ago.

As long as they continue to make good games, I'll keep playing them. But yeah I've still grown out of stuff like Super Mario.

I already have, pretty much.

I just replay older games now, and some newer games that appeal to me. (mainly indie and handheld games)

Which age*, is it supposed to say, of course. Damn... :-/

For us who grew up with gaming, it's hard to imagine the day when you feel you've grown too old for these kind of games. But it's bound to happen at one stage, isn't it?

So, how old do you think you will be, when it is looked upon as beeing too childish? If ever... after all one can never grow too old to have fun, now can we?

Silly question. No its not bound to happen, I guess this is very much like the guy who spammed the metal thread with "You will grow out of it".

Skyrim is very rpg lite. Instead of waiting so long, you could have picked up an action advnture game.

Totally, they have been making Zelda games for a long long time and they are much more fun than Skryim with its tedious repetition.

I'll keep playing games till I get bored of them.

This. Sometimes I take a break for a while, but I always come back eventually.

Plus going out drinking with friends is better than sitting in a dark room shouting and rage quitting.

Isn't nightclubbing just standing in a dark room shouting? Well that's my experience of it anyway. I'd rather have a few friends over and play a co-op game than spend lots of money to not talk to anyone all night because I can't hear them.

Never I would hope. I'm sure as I get to the age of having a career and family I'll have less time but I don't have any intention of ever stopping.

A career counterbalances less time (though it should never be too much less) with more money to buy a better gaming system. Family's no problem, just encourage them to become feral.

I'm 28 and rapidly reaching that point. My interests have evolved into other areas of life, couple that with a busy schedule and my interest in gaming is steadily declining.

I never plan to stop. I hope to maybe even pursue it as a career, or if I can't I'll hope to make a hobby of it beyond just playing them (like, indie games for example).

Well fortunately my career interest is in gaming so I will never be out of that world. As for family well I'll need them to fetch my food and drinks while I'm gaming at home.

Hmm, I would like to say that I never will, but I am not so sure if that is the case.

My brother is a bigger game freak than I, and he has slowly stopped playing games, not entirely though. But that may just be college grinding on him.

I hope that I will always have the desire to play games. They are a good way to relieve stress. But if life starts to take its tole then I could see this habit slipping between the cracks.

I probably won't ever. But when I have kids I suspect I'll have a lot less time... :(

Thats not a problem, you have wife to look over the kids when you play  and when the children grow bit older you can play with them.

The amount it takes me to get drunk is unreal and I'd rather do a MW3 or FIFA10 run again - Oh the rage, the tears, the joy, the drink
Drinking while playing FIFA is awesome. Unfortunately my friend took advantage of me and I woke up with a unpleasant surprise next timeI checked my online stats.

I like how I formulated that sentence. :3
