At which age do you see yourself not playing games like Skyr

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:57 am

Which age*, is it supposed to say, of course. Damn... :-/

For us who grew up with gaming, it's hard to imagine the day when you feel you've grown too old for these kind of games. But it's bound to happen at one stage, isn't it?

So, how old do you think you will be, when it is looked upon as beeing too childish? If ever... after all one can never grow too old to have fun, now can we?

No. It's not. I'm 59 and I have no intention of ever stopping. There are several folks on these forums who are in their sixties.

I hate this idea that people are expected to stop enjoying life just because they get older. That notion has to stop. The sooner it stops the better.

I'm 34. I practically grew up in an arcade. When I was younger, a few of my friend's dads were gamers as well. They were into more serious strategy games and stuff, but looking back now, it's kind of cool that I never saw them as much different than myself. They're in the 60s now. If I live that long, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't still be playing games.

I find myself playing games much less nowadays than I used to. It's got nothing to do with my age, it's because good games are much rarer than they used to be.

Gaming is getting less and less childish. It ain't childish anymore, I say. Most gamers are around age 30 and most (popular) games are mature.

I'll keep playing games till I get bored of them, but I can't see myself doing that. I grew up playing Half Life, DOOM and Soldier of Fortune. And Heretic.

Never. I've always liked gaming and I've just been more and more invested into it. 31 by the way.

It really pisses me off when people look down on me because I play games (I don't even like calling them that). Like I said in another thread, all they see is a 6yr old playing Pac-Man. These games are rated M, just like movies are rated R. RPGs are more than just a shoot'em-up-bang-bang. There is a lot more to them than that. Those kind of games are more for the young crowd. And that is fine. I just do not get into those.

So is there a type of game you outgrow? Yes, just like you outgrow kid shows.

Do you outgrow games? No, just like you don't outgrow movies. The same way you don't out grow reading novels.

Yea. It's not a matter of thinking the games childish, but rather a matter of not having time for them anymore.

I did write: "after all one can never grow too old to have fun, now can one?"

So I do agree with everyone here. Let's hope it never stops, and the good games keep coming :-)

I'll stop playing games like Skyrim when they stop making games like Skyrim.
Until then I'm a gamer for life,I see no reason to stop.

All ready stopping, more and more I'm bringing work home with me. I hate work :pinch:
Plus going out drinking with friends is better than sitting in a dark room shouting and rage quitting.

40 myself, been playing games since the ZX81, was a nipper back then though.
My father brought it home and he was always playing games up till his death a few years ago, so I grew up at least not thinking it was just for kids.
I used to make mods myself, need to get back into it but lost some of my drive (see above) and have always been a hardcoe gamer who spends rediculous amounts of my time each week gaming.

What is the alternative, sitting round watching some drivel on TV that isn't even interactive. My brain needs to be kept busy and very few other medias cut it.
Gaming is also seen to be beneficial to the elderly for that exact reason, keeping their minds active.

Like my father before me, I will be gaming till I hit grave.

The amount it takes me to get drunk is unreal and I'd rather do a MW3 or FIFA10 run again - Oh the rage, the tears, the joy, the drink :D

I will never play games like Skyrim. I don't expect to ever stop gaming though, despite not having as much time for games as I used to.
