Which Weapon would you Choose?

Post » Sun Oct 12, 2008 5:01 pm

Question 1:
If you had to pick one weapon in the game, any weapon at all, but you had to keep it from beginning to end and no other weapon would be available, which one would you get? Uniques are okay but consider cost and availability of ammo; also consider would it be good enough for end game! Melee, guns, unarmed, energy....pick one.

My answer is All American. I love that gun; it uses easy to get 5.56 mm and I'm currently using it at lvl 24 to kill everything. I think I can complete the game with that gun.

Question 2:

Same question as above however this time you don't start with any weapon of your choice, you have to go get it. Following surgery at the Docs, you get your starting weapon but the next weapon you get is the one you keep for the rest of the game. What weapon do you try to get? What is your strategy for getting it?

My answer is O-Baby. I think with Veronica and ED-E as distractions in the cave and maybe even a stealth boy, I can get O-Baby by lvl 6-8. Eventually I'll get Veronica Pushy and we'll beat everyone to death. Think I got a chance?

1. Knock Knock
2. Knock Knock... Just head over to Searchlight by following the highway... charge straight to the church... beat down or pickpocket for the key and voila!... You could prolly have it well before you reach level 4.

Question 1 I'd probably say All American or the Sniper Rifle

Question 2 I would love to say the All American but to get it at a low level would be suicide (I'm gonna try to do that in my next game).

Um, I'll cheat and say La Longue and This Machine.

I'd just have to make it to the NCR fort.

The unique Plasma Rifle with the difficult name at REPCONN HQ is fairly easy to get and relatively powerful.
I do doubt whether or not it's useful in the endgame.

1: D-D-D-Dinner Bell! Rare ammo at first but it'll kill everything.
2: This Machine, quest to get it is simple

For practicality
1: Hunting shotgun
2: Hunting shotgun

Ammo is easy to get and I can go to the Nuke testing site to pick one up.

EDIT: For the impossible starter weapons
1: Anti material rifle
2: Anti material rifle

1. Silenced Sniper Rifle with JSP rounds with proper perks. 100% crit rate. Out DPS any gun for multi-purpose situations. Puts this machine/brush gun to shame.

I even used it as a close range shotgun and it did more dmg than my real shotguns, only more quiet. Most OP gun in game imo.

Can we stop with Sniper Rifle cliche fanboyism already, 5x crit chance is a design mistake which I hope they will fix in the next patch.

If I got to use one weapon the entire game I'd pick All-American. If I could carry two, I'd take All-American and Ranger Sequoia. I can get Sequoia with fists and I can get All-American with Sequoia.

For question 1 & 2 is rebar club, extremely strong and just badass and it's just at repconn so it's pretty close.

1.) Sniper Rifle
2.) If I could get it at the start, Sniper Rifle. If not Cowboy Repeater.

I roll non-unique.

1. Hunting Shotgun
2. Either the Lucky revolver or That Gun. I just need to make sure I get enough skill points into the Lockpick skill when I get to Primm :( or just get to Novac, talk to Jeanie May about a discount with Cliff, sell all the weapons I'm not going to use, then I have an awesome revolver. Wha-Bam.

That was uncalled for. It's in the game, i'll bring it up all I want. It kills faster than any weapon i've tried. (apart from sneak shots with YCM and AMR)

I really hate that Bethesda even came up with the idea of unique weapons, because every time you hear about them on Youtube or something you immediately have to go out and waste your time just to get a stupid gun you're probably never going to use.

It helps bring variety, but nobody ever said you had to go get unique weapons.

For weapons I would have to choose-

1. Marie: Beautiful gun that deals decent damage
2. Mysterious Magnum: Easy to grab early on, only problem early on is .44 magnum ammo

1. Super Sledge.
2. Rebar Club.

with the super slam perk, these two melee weapons become almost over powered.

I got my first rebar club from some nightkin near Novac. it wasn't too difficult at level 6 or so.

1. For all-purpose and versatility reasons the All-American for sure. Its best at Medium Range situations but with its scope Long range is easy and with vats short range is just as plausible.
2. I wish I could get to the All-American at a low lvl but that is plain impossible with all the glowing ones + radiation. So my vote also goes to Oh-baby because you can just hide behind Lily (you don't even need to do a quest to get her) and speed run all the way up to it.

They'd do more than fine with 1.5x or 2x. Try it.

Sniper Rifle, an infinite supply of Steady, and "The Grip Reaper's Spirit" perk.

Trail Carbine with the scope mod.

+Great at long range sniping.
+Great in VATS with 21 AP cost.
+Degrades very slowly with it's 500 item HPs.
+Ammo can be bought at 500+ rounds every 4 days. Turns up quite often in loot containers also.
+Can be acquired at low levels.

-SWC hand loads have a stupid requirement. (50 guns, 60 Survival, finding the right NPC, and Hand Loader perk)
-Needs Cowboy Perk for the +25% damage buff.
-Need 50 lockpick skill to get it.
-Crippled at this time on PC (Reloading Bug) without a mod.
