Who are your favorite followers?

The followers' special abilities/powers look really good. Give them uniqueness besides their skills.

Anyways, a special ability just pop into my head:

Mjoll the Lioness: Lioness' Roar - help to rally allies by buffing their health, stamina, and attack speed. Also frighten hostiles and so lowering their attack speed and armor.

Kharjo is probably my favorite.

J'zargo is also pretty cool.

Wish Kharjo was romanceable too. He's a sixy kitty. Ah well.

His quest is pretty great, and he has a lot of personality. Plus, since my character doesn't use shields or heavy armor, he gets all those fun toys instead. :D

I'd say any special ability for him should be related to his talents with a shield... or something related to his dialogue line: "If anyone sneaks up on us, I'll smell them coming. Or, I might not, we'll see."

My faves are Belrand, Lydia, Cosnach (breton, like my char) and one i consoled in, Lisette.

I don't get it, companion pathfinding was almost perfect in Fallout 3, companions would follow in your very footsteps, looked kinda odd, but worked wonderfully. why didn't they stick to that instead of the oblivion style "lemme find the long way around" mentality?

I found Mjoll quite adorable. Didn't really like men being my silent and opinion-less packrats so I sticked to Mjoll whose charm made up a bit for being a tag-along.

Still, I'm waiting for some sensible romance/follower mod to come out as this still wasn't a satisfying experience :<

I more or less agree with this, though I do find 3 out of 5 of my characters usually marry Mjoll. :P My 2nd favorite was Benor. Not very talkative and ugly as hell, but he's the very 1st companion I ever came across with, and spent a long time clearing caves with him so he somehow grew on me.

Cicero and Borgakh are done. Cicero can turn ethereal when attacked in melee combat, and attacks from ethereal state do devastating critical hits. Borgakh has combat health regeneration, and she gains damage proportional to the amount of health she's lost, up to x2 when near death.

I've still been sitting on Mjoll forever because I have no idea what to do with her.

I thought jordan0422's idea about the roar fit Mjoll. But I have to admit I won't use her unless her is dialog is reduced to 1/10th the frequency it is now. I wanted to like her, but I had to ditch her after a couple dungeons of suffering the same 2 stories over and over, and I've never used her since.

Rather than a roar, how about a constant aura that weakens enemies? I'm not sure how it should weaken them, though...

Ahtar is done. His melee attacks absorb stamina, letting him pretty much power attack all he wants, which works great with his other perk that makes enemies hit by his power attacks temporarily slowed. This affects movement and attack speed. Currently it's a 60% slow for 10 seconds, but those numbers might change. His ability to drain and slow enemies makes him great at weakening opponents. I've also given him Devastating Blow.

When using followers, I like most and take Iona (Riften Housecarl) or Jordis The Warmaiden (Solitude housecarl) with me. Mostly it's Iona, she's already got up-to-date and best gear. Illia is ok and effective too but she resides a bit far where I usually roam.

I use Illia, but she is sometimes to close i think. And sometimes i get hit by friendly fire :ermm:

Can you make it so her aura makes them more susceptible to crits perhaps?

I could make it so that Mjoll and you gain critical damage, but critical weakness isn't a thing. Also, Mjoll could only provide critical damage for herself and the player, not any other allies. This is because critical damage is handled by a perk entry point, and the only character who can have perks that aren't listed on its base ID is the player. Spell effects that add perks (like how Dragonhide works) don't work on NPCs.

Maybe she slowly drains stamina?
Or do you have a different follower set to do that?

Ahtar drains stamina from targets with each melee strike. He also slows things wtih power attacks, so I already have a companion doing that.

Mjoll is something of a crusader on a mission to rid the world of evil. My goal in every one of these has been to give allies abilties that reflect their personalities, so I'd like her to really show in the powers I give her.

Maybe a turn undead type of aura or something if she's intending to rid the world of evil

I'd be happy if you simply moved all her perks so she specialized in one-handed swords instead of two-handed weapons. Boggles my mind why her unique weapon is a one-handed sword when she's better with two-handed weapons.

I had thought about turn undead chance on her strikes, but I'm not sure it fits her. She mostly wants to rid the world of evil people. Perhaps giving her attacks a chance of a short calm effect would work? Sven has something similar with Ruse, which gives him a 5% chance of fear on all attacks.

I could do that, but I sort of like leaving her with two-handed. Perhaps just changing Grimsever to a two-hander makes more sense.

Or maybe a chance to Fear?

Sven's Ruse is exactly that already. It gives him a chance of fear on attacks.

I won't be able to include Aela's werewolf transformation power until I have the Creation Kit (and can write scripts), but I did now give Aela another very cool power. She'll constantly calm all nearby animals. This lets you walk around more safely outdoors, or you can even go hunting using this. Constantly being calmed means you can beat animals to death without them running away or attacking.

I just need to finish Derkeethus, Mjoll the Lioness, and Ghorbash the Iron Hand (or any orc, but I'm thinking it'll be him), then I can release the first version of this. Based on requests from this and a GameFAQs topic I made, I'm still considering adding Benor, Cosnach, Illia, Kharjo, and Uthgerd the Unbroken. To be honest though, I really don't feel like it. I'll already be covering 28 out of 45 of the humanoid followers.

Jordis, because she's always a level 40+ savage by the time I recruit her. Also has a much more professional attitude than Lydia. Aranea Lenith because its hilarious when she overreacts and summons a frost atronach for a couple of skeevers (I also hate leaving her alone in a blizzard.) Jenassa because she's a dual wielder, dual wield power attacks are cool. I also like Kharjo's laid back personality.

Yet another request for Kharjo... I guess I could add him if so many people like the guy. That's 29 total followers in this. I almost feel like just adding one more to make an even 30 out of 45.

How about Illia? I've read that there's an issue with being able to hire her again after firing once, but the UESP page for her doesn't explain it. Looking at her base ID informaiton, I don't know what would cause this. Could anyone explain it?

EDIT: Illia is, very oddly, the only follower who uses a template. She's based on LvlWarlockFrostBoss. This is why her base ID doesn't list its own spells, and may be related to the problem with recruiting her.

So, do you think you can fix it (if it is fixable)? I agree Illia is one of the best mage follower in Skyrim but the recruiting problem is very annoying.

I really like Kharjo as well.

I used to give him stealth like gear (bow and arrow + one handed) ... recently gave him two high powered mage staffs (staves?) and he rocks.

Curious who makes a good magic using companion - like the kind that can heal you.

You use Kharjo for stealth, which fits with what I was planning on giving him. I was hoping to get a working effect that would let you detect nearby enemies if sneaking with Kharjo nearby.

And I do have some allies who can heal the player. Brelyna can use healing magic that restores all allies. All of the Housecarls will heal allies fully when near death, but it has a long cooldown. Eola will heal the player slowly if you're a vampire and near her. Erandur will heal the player slowly if you're not a vampire and near him.

I don't think any of the NPCs will heal you even if they have the spell. Haven't ever had a mage follower though so can't say.

I know J'zargo is a pretty good mage, as is the Dark Elf gal that you can recruit from the Mage's College as well (I forget her name).
