Why can't my wife give birth? I don't want adopted children

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:12 pm

So I will buy Harthfire. I will buy some property build my self a nice house. But I want my natural children. To be strong as their 78 level papa. Don't want some weakling adopties. I really don't understand why can't I have my own children with my beautiful wife?

I don't see why would that be some forbiden feature. I mean if someone wants to adopt OK but if not why not same baby production action?

because it would mess up the whole "real-time" feel, if you could then would you be willing to wait 9 in-game months just to have a baby? As well as that it means they would have to make everyone else age which means older npcs would eventually have to die off

And what if you are a female Dragonborn/ are part of a gay couple?

This causes problems for female Dovahkiins and same-six couples.

Maybe you could get a "wait 9 months" option at the waiting menu once your wife is pregnant.

There's a mod for that for New Vegas, actually. From what i hear it has greatly accelerated pregnancy and growth of the child, and what you get is an unusually small sized child follower. Good to go right after birth :lmao: The child will mature into a regular advlt NPC follower eventually.

And for that i doubt it'll be included officially, but i'd believe there'll be mods for that for Skyrim too, eventually.

I think it's because they only have Nord children, this would open up an opportunity to have kids of different races, and they're to lazy to make them.

Because for what little it provides the cost and time of development isn't worth it.

Do people realize how dumb they sound when they say Bethesda is "too lazy" to do something. Their decisions have nothing to do with laziness but rather techincal and financial reasons. I'm pretty sure the developers would put as much into the game as they possibly could if there were no techincal and financial limitations.

Answered this in a prev. topic, but it's locked, so I'll quote myself:

1. Equality. Bethesda has done their best to allow same-gender couples the same rights as opposite-gender ones. Homosixual couples would not be able to produce children.
2. Interfertility. Neither would marriages in which one of the people was Argonian or Khajiit, and possibly orc as well.
3. Genetics. They would have to have a mechanic for determining the physical appearance and capabilities of any number of combinations, from Nord-Altmer to Breton-Bosmer.
4. Mechanics. They would have to create an infant growth mechanic: infant to toddler to small child to... et cetera.
5. Logistics. How is an 8-1/2 months pregnant female Dragonborn going to climb mountains, battle dragons, and flatten bandits?

i would like to see this, but doubt it would be implemented. i dont get why people are using same six marriage as an excuse for not doing it though, in real life same six couples cannot have kids, thats what adoptions for

Exactly , you don't stop from having children because there are couples with the same GENDER ( I don't get this six madness ).

1. this isn't fable

2. theres no babies in the game so that would mean you would give birth to a fully grown child which is dumb imo

3. this isn't fable...even though hearthfire is very fable-ish :P

There are a few other reasons you're ignoring. Like the lack of an aging mechanic.

It messes up real-time gameplay. If they did that, they'd have other NPCs birthing children and NPCs aging and dying.

Then add them !

You're being unreasonable. Coding is way more complicated than you seems to understand.
If Beth was going to make thousands of NPC have children, grow up, age and eventually die of natural causes, you'd have decades of work before you with technology not available for public use.
Sure, they can randomise NPC, but that removes half of the point of TES games, and they would still have to code it all.

Wait, you're an old member around here. Sure you're not just trolling us?

Ok. Think very carefully about what you're suggesting.

If you add an aging mechanic, that means that everyone has to age. Which means that the game has to end. And it also means about a million other problems created in a world as complex as Skyrim.

Then add aging system for the children only ! *

Not only does that make total sense, it wouldn't break the game's sense of reality at all. It also wouldn't result in a potentially game-crashing situation of an infinite number of NPCs spawning. No, sir. That's one well-thought-out idea.

Well then I see , then how children will be handled with Hearthfire ?
What if I live in my game for three four years in game ?

If you can keep a character around for that long, you must be roleplaying heavily.
You can probably handle roleplaying people growing up, birthing and aging.
