Why not Skyrim in Portuguese?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:20 am

I think Bethesda's a big mistake not to put the Portuguese language in Skyrim. Brazil is a huge market for games. They may need a little research on the gammer market there.
The Blizzard has already invested and are happy with the results. Why not Skyrim???

Cheers...

Games usually sound much more awesome in languages other than English imo :D

Because the game would be too big. They can't find and afford VA for many languages anyway. They are probably stressing with finishing the game already, lets not give then reason for more, shall we?

I don't want a game at alot more gigabytes for languages I won't use. Ever.

Whatever the reasons for not doing it may be, I'm not sure and I am sorry that it will not be in what I presume is your native language.

Because it costs a lot to do that for only about 1% of the Skyrim players.

Bethesda would have to hire more voice actors and spend longer making Portuguese text. And there's probably 100-1000 Skyrim players who are Portuguese.

Dude I'm portuguese and I'm not expecting that. Nor want to for that matter, I find it ultra weird playing games with portuguese launguage or subtitles  It's like listening a movie without the original voice actors, it's just...weird and puts me completely off

EDIT: As others have pointed out, it's nothing more than a waste of resources.

Same here, but I've spoken english a lot more then portuguese, and to be honest I'm just more used to it and I would rather play it in english.

So you are telling me that you don't speak English or Spanish? and if so how did you post? in any case, it is probably not worth the time of hiring voice actors for hundreds of lines for a few people in Portugal who do not speak Spanish or English.

It'd be a waste of money, time, and disk space to get every language possible in Skyrim.

Not to mention games often suffer from the same awkward dubbing as movies. I'd much rather use subtitles on a foreign film/game rather than hear terrible dub work.

The OP seems to be brazilian though and Brazil is a pretty big place :P I agree that almost no one (if anyone) will buy this game and not know how to speak in english

100-1000 Skyrim players who are Portuguese.

301 million portuguese speakers... 100 players?

Porque sinceramente n?o vale a pena estar a gastar dinheiro em contratar +70 actores (o mesmo número de actores que falar?o em inglês) para falar portugês, quando há coisas muito mais importantes para gastar dinheiro. Desculpa lá :P

EDIT: Just mentioning the resources needed :P

Since this is an English forum and gamesas is located in the USA, we respectfully request that English is used here for consistencies sake. Nothing against any non-English language, but the forums would become very confusing otherwise.

Thanks,

EDIT: Sorry I posted before Miltiades =]
I think it's easier to just make subtitles, don't you? That way, the game isn't gigantic and a Brazilian/Portuguese can still play w/o any big issues.

True dat. I have a friend that stopped playing oblivion because he couldn't understand a single thing in the game...

But subtitles in PT-BT would be Great in Skyrim for sure...

He said: Because, honestly, it isn't worth it to waste money on 70+ voice actors just to speak portuguese, when there are much more important things to waste money with. Sorry!

The only question is, is it profitable to do it? I mean will more sales be made? Chances are beth have done research into it and found it isn't.
