why skyrim the easiest in the series

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:12 pm

how to post on this thread:
1. don't post one liners
2. try to say your pro's and con's for skyrim and why
3. rate the game
4. do not feed the trolls

bethesda wth is happening to you?

pro's:
good graphics
good perks
oh did i forget good graphics?

cons:
there are no "stats" - when did you start calling health bar a stat?
feels like an adventure game instead of a "REAL" RPG game
fallout 3's concept is better.
not enough software for mods - if so, its "late". and its enough to say i'll hold my play on this one.
annoying sounds when something "big" happens like getting a new "word" for the shout skill

my game rating: 6/10

-many thanks for abiding by the rules 1-4

ever wonder how a spell caster can hold 300 units of weight in his/her first day? that alone will make the game easy. this is why we need to choose at least 3-5 class (or make it our selves just like the older series). ie: warrior/thief/mage/ranger/ect

if you can't do the class thing, you might as well do the 3 basic stat of a char

str - affects hp/carry weight limit/ melee damage
dex - affects damage reduction from shield skills, and stealth skills
int - magicka regen / amount of magicka

'coz this class/stats thing - above all else should determine how we play the game.

let me put this on the bottom of my first post. 'coz i think this is essential.

Google 'Skyrim mods' and you may find some of these things have mods to fix them.

Heard it all before...

Your opinion alone is not enough to justify a new separate thread.

Maybe I should rate your use grammar. That's a 1/10...

its not a stat its a skill rating on the skill menu, that's why you call it a skill not stats, so can you explain what happen to str, endurance, wis, int, luck ect.

Amalgamated into Stamina, Magicka and Health then, which I don't see to be a problem.

true, then explain a mage class carrying capacity a 300?
what i'm just trying to say here is you need to pick a class, and the game will automatically adjust it for you. just like the old days of elders scrolls. it shouldn't be one char fits all gloves kinda thing, know what i mean?

just because you cant see them doesnt mean that they are not there, its just like people complaining that facebook changed.

you can just accept it and have fun with it, or you can spend your time on the skyrim forum, complaining about how skyrim isnt like morrowind with better graphics

I have little say on Skyrim. I like it, and that's enough for me. 90% of this game is things that I like, ranging from the usual graphics to factions. The things I don't like are mainly limited dialogue and lackluster guild quests (though the stories themselves are okay).

cons:
there are no "stats" - when did you start calling health bar a stat?
feels like an adventure game instead of a "REAL" RPG game
fallout 3's concept is better.
not enough software for mods - if so, its "late". and its enough to say i'll hold my play on this one.

First of all, "REAL RPG" is a very subjective term and you are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman when trying to use the term without any definition.
Secondly, do not compare Fallout with TES. Completely different things.
The game has been out for two months and we are getting the CK in two weeks or so. Many of today's games don't get modding at all, so you damn better be thankful for even a delayed construction kit.
Turn music off to turn off your "annoying sounds".

Suffice to say I would not hire you to make game reviews.

ok i'll give you some idea on what real RPG is for me.

1. you make your own char - yes
2. you pick or make your own class - No (sadly all skills are available to everyone)
3. you have a skill or skill tree or perks - yes
4. you level up - yes
5. you have stats - limited

optional:
free world (you do what you want to do when you want to do it.) - yes
mods - yes

based on these it passed the RPG test, but it feels fake for me, since the game offers me more like an adventure game instead of an RPG game.

I always turn my music off on games i play on "hardcoe modes". how i wish there's a mod that turns the skill/levelup/warning/notice sound off & I'm not asking you to give me a job to review games. i'm doing this to satisfy my frustration about this game.

I disagree, go explore dungeons, then you will eventually experience one of the toughest difficulties in the series, you'll be surprised.

Urm, feel free to correct me here, but the difference between 'stats' and 'skills' are largely semantic?

Sure, in D&D you had stats (STR, INT, STA, WIS, CHA), Skills (Tons, with names like Sneak, Pickpocket etc) and Feats (Approximately equivalent to perks).

But even in D&D there was an awful lot of crossover between skills and stats. Some checks were Charisma checks, modified by Speachcraft, some were pure Stamina checks, or Intelligence checks. In the end both stats and skills were always just numbers used to multiply certain other numbers; the separate categorisation of them in D&D and other derivative games is a balance and 'flavour' based decision. It is not the defining characteristic of an RPG.

Really, the only operational difference between Skills and Stats is that Skills can have a value of zero, while stats are always non-zero. But a zero in a skill did not make it's associated checks impossible, because they were also modified by the (non zero) stats.

Indeed some would say a 'true' RPG has no stats; it's just you, being someone else.

yes i do, i also play on these rules i made

never don't use magic if you are using a warrior/ranger type themed char
when using a potion only use 1-2 potions per battle, even w/ dragons
no eating when in battle
if you eat as many items as 3 or more you need to wait 1hr
no fast travels
& stuff i made up to make the game realistic as possible

and i play on these settings
expert (why not master? because its not realistic)
no crosshairs
no sneak cursor
no compass

& on the console = player.setav
healrate 0.05
staminarate 0.5
magickarate 0.5
set timescale to 10 (someone suggested a 6 so i will try that in my next game. since i wated to have a 4hrs real time into 24hrs game time)

yes its hard but its not tough enough even if i work alone w/o a companion.

ok you got me, but its sure good to see something else. other than hp/mana/stam as your only stat

good argument, this is what i'm waiting for. sadly i still live in D&D & i'm just a visitor passing tru in TES. still i'm looking for a "class system" where certain skills have limited max value and sometimes won't be available to you.

Lol, OP. You sure have balls to talk like that here in Skyrim General Discission forum. In here, if you talk against Skyrim or how wonderful mods are, you'll probably get murder in here.

So I see your very skilled, but I'm just saying that Skyrim isn't the easiest in the series when it comes to difficulty, maybe the easiest as in having the least quests. I think the only way for the game to be easy is if your a very skilled archer and a very skilled smith, are you either one? Because the enemies stats in this game are very high, as in having much more health than you (bosses can have thousands of health points), there are many high leveled Bandits and Draugr that can possibly kill you quickly for players that don't increase their health much, it's a tougher situation when they are in numbers. I play on normal because I always want my battles to be fair, and they are still challenging.
