Why were YOU crossing the border

Was fleeing Cyrodiil guards after he was caught shagging the Emporer's wife and daughter while playing a rock guitar solo over the desecrated corpse of God.

My Orc was fleeing from Cyrodiil, where he and his brother were living after running away from the stronghold they lived in, before his brother died. He had lived as a thug for a few years, before a citizen put a hit out on him, and he had to flee, vowing to reform his ways, so innocents wouldn't get hurt again.

My Bosmer was fleeing false imprisonment after being framed by a murderer he was given a contract by the Fighters' Guild to kill.

My Nord was visiting family in Cyrodiil, and was captured on his way home to help support the Stormcloaks with minor supplies.

My Dunmer was going to visit family in Windhelm, traveling from High Rock. Turns out the family was dead, with no trace of them anywhere. :whistling:

That about covers it.

Mostly abandoning his last name as his family name went into disuse, lost in the lines of death and fading in history, http://uesp.net/wiki/User:Zydrate/Matthias eventually found himself in Skyrim. He was captured near the border between Skyrim and Morrowind, selling large amounts of weaponry to the Stormcloak rebellion faction. This was nothing new in Matthias' usual criminal empire (Which, once again, fell into hard times). Though his near-beheading offended him which spurred him to offer more direct aid to the Stormcloaks in his free time when he's not building up his Clan in Skyrim.
He is no fan of Ulfric, but he keeps his allegiance to the coin and they're both fully aware of that.

That's the "short" version for my "main" character (Despite being female myself, all my other characters are females)

My high elf mage is a Thalmor defector and was actually trying to escape into Morrowind. She failed.
I kind of retconned the intro for my Guardswoman.
My Necromatic thief was pretty much just your standard criminal.

well, unlike most khajiits she was born at the border between Cyrodiil and Skyrim anyway.
she was simply wandering around for years, liked adventure and so exploring those old Aylaiden dungeons that were everywhere.
While doing that she found some hints to skyrim and started travelling there (maybe hoping for finding some relatives)
so she crossed the border and was a little pissed off when she got captured.

My Khajiit, Lom, has a very bad sense of direction. Khajiit was looking for a particular Valenwood restaurant said to have the finest steak in all Tamriel. Khajiit doesn't know how she ended up in an Imperial ambush there. Honestly she was a little curious as to why all of the Wood Elves looked like Nords, but then Khajiit thinks all non-Khajiit look kind of the same anyways, so she didn't pay heed to it.

Now there are dragons, and the strange muscly Wood Elves keep calling her Dragonborn, and she hasn't found that restaurant yet and Valenwood is kind of colder than she expected too...

that is the best on I've read thus far.

Captain Crazy is an enterprising Nord mercenary. He'd thought to go South to help the empire battle the Thalmor but then the emperor went and decided to bend over and spread his cheeks for the nasty buggers shortly after the hairy warrior arrived. With his purse empty and his purpose in Cyrodil largely negated, he decided to head back to Skyrim and see about getting some work up there. The rumours of war promised a lucrative trade for sellswords and Cpt. Crazy was feeling pretty positive and upbeat about his future. Right up until he stumbled into an Imperial ambush!!

My Orc was on a trek of honor. He was traveling to meet up with the Imperial Legion where he planned on enlisting and aiding in the squashing of the rebellion, winning great honor for himself and his stronghold in the process. As he crossed the boarder lands into Skyrim he heard the sounds of clashing swords. Drawing his ancestral warhammer, he charged forward into the clearing, before him he saw the Legion and the Stormcloaks in the head of battle. Intending to help the Legion, he joined the fray, only the Legion was unawares of his intentions, so when the Stormcloaks were subdued, and unwilling to strike a legionnaire, he was forced to disarm and was taken captive along with the rest.

I am Dragen, a Nord.
Me and my Dad lost a beloved member of the family when i was just a kid, my Mother.. My father was a Farmer and a good Hunter, i always helped him harvesting the crops and hunting with him.
We were very happy, living just us two and our Dog Rufus. Ah, how good that times were.. Every night we used to sat in front of the fireplace and tell some old tales and some jokes, laughing and eating a delicious food my father cooked for us.
When i was 16 my father recieved a letter of some Imperials threatening him, saying that if my father don't go to Cyrodiil immediately, they would come for him. So he left, and went to Cyrodiil. He called one Friend to stay with me for a while, Lurik. Then it was now just me, Lurik and Rufus. I was worried on what could happen to my Father, but Lurik always said to me that all is going to be fine.
2 years has passed, and i was 18 years old. My father didn't have come back, Lurik needed to go back to his family. I was independent, just me and Rufus. We went hunting, me and Rufus catched a few rabbits and some Deer. The sun was going down, almost night, we were going home when suddenly i heard a wolf howling, i pull out my Sword and start looking around. When i turned back i saw that Wolf coming for me and then Rufus defended me. He got wounded but still able to walk and still strong. Suddenly i pack o 4 Wolves came in our direction, we couldn't run, so we took a deep breath and faced the wolves with courage. I managed to kill 2 of them, Rufus managed to kill 1, but when i looked behind me, i saw that last Wolf, killing Rufus... It was terrible ! I managed to kill that last Wolf, but Rufus.. that poor Dog, didn't managed to survive... He was brave and strong, my friend since i was just 5 years old.. I lost another beloved family member.. That night, i got a Scar in my face by one of the Wolves.
Lots of years had passed, i was 29 years old, i was trying to live my life in peace, but i couldn't make my mind forget about the night my father went to Cyrodiil, and the night Rufus died. Going to Falkreath one courier stopped me and gave me a Letter, it had been written by some of my father's contacts or friends in Cyrodiil.. It was written that my Father, my dad, died... When i read that i was so sad but at the same time so angry that i went back to my House, bagged my stuff, picked up my bow and my sword and making my way to Cyrodiil. The letter also said where i could find my Father's friend in Cyrodiil.. I've lost all my closest family memeber, my beloved ones.. My Mother, Rufus and now, My Father.. Consumed by anger i went right away to Cyrodiil, no one could stop me, i was going to discover why my father died ! But, when i was crossing the border, i got ambushed by a group of Imperial Legions... They took my stuff, and put me into a Carriage... Tired and Wounded i woke up and there was, in my front, Ralof.. a good man, he started to talk with me, and then i saw Ulfric Stormcloak on my right.. We were going to Helgen to be executed.. But, when we reach there, when i was almost being executed, a Dragon appeared ! It started attacking and destroying everything in his front.. but luckily me and Ralof managed to escape togheter.. I met his sister Gerdur, a good woman.
Now, i'm 30 years old and what is the most Strange of all ? I discovered that I am a Dragonborn. A simple man turns out to be Dragonborn ! I was no one before that... Now, i'm in Ivarstead. The Graybeards summoned me, tomorrow i'll be climbing the 7.000 steps to High Hrothgar.. Now the destiny of Skyrim it's in my hands ! I am Dovahkiin and i will not fail !

My name name is Dragen, and that's my story.

Obs: I bet someone will read this, but If you read this, read with the Nord's Sorrow Soundtrack for maximum epicness. It is really cool.

Vardan Strait-Arrow was born in Valenwood to a poor Bosmer family. They moved to Cyrodiil when Vardan was still very young.

Life was hard growing up in Anvil, Vardan and his sister Ressa were always picked on by the other children for being Mer. The only citizens of Anvil that were hospitable and nice to the family of Bosmer was a family of Nords. The Stonewind clan. The youngest son of the Stonewind clan went by the name of Càth.

Càth and Vardan became fast friends. Vardan taught Càth how to hunt and use a bow, Càth trained Vardan in the art of combat and smithing(Vardan never really took to smithing)

Eventually as the two friends grew up they moved their separate ways. Càth returned to the homeland of his forefathers, Skyrim, as he had heard whispers of civil-war. Rumor has it that Càth joined up with the Stormcloaks.

Two years have passed. Vardan became obsessed with the Nords culture. Dyed his hair a fair blonde color. Painted his face with blue warpaint. Eventually he defied his family's wishes and left to join his friend Càth in the rebellion. Unfortunately for Vardan, he didn't have enough money to legally cross into Skyrim, he was caught trying to sneak passed the border.

There you have it, my two characters. Càth Stonewind and Vardan Strait-Arrow, Nord and Wood Elf respectively. Càth is a two-handed warrior, Vardan is a Thief/Archer/Assassin.

My bosmer mage needed to get to Helgen on his yearly pilgrimage there to purchase 20 pairs of the famous local socks that are only knitted in that area, but he was very tired and far from his destination, being psychic he realised he could get a free ride there courtesy of the empire just by hanging around Ulfric Stormcloak whom he knew would get ambushed and taken to Helgen, and then set free by an irate dragon just before his head was separated from his shoulders.

Once the dragon attacked, instead of running toward Ralof and Ulfric, he dashed into the knitting store instead, grabbed as many of the socks as he could and made his escape during all the confusion :D

My Orc character, Orgnog has been wandering the countryside training himself to be the strongest warrior in Tamriel. He came across some Imperial soldiers battling rebels. Orgnog had no intentions of interfering until a few soldiers from each side attacked him. He proceeded to slaughter them all until an Imperial archer shot him with an arrow of paralysis. After escaping Helgen by himself (I outran the "sidekick" asap) he encountered some Thalmor Agents. Stealing their clothes for himself he wandered into Winterhold to try and get his sword enchanted where he met Brelyna Maryon. Feeling something other then the lust for battle the two were shortly married and made a name for themselves searching for stronger foes to defeat.
