why would pc gamers buy hearthfire?

Which is kinda a [censored] you to the people that play as races besides the Humans. Because the only kids models that are in the game are Nords and Redguards.
Cool. So that means Bethesda will be adding new kid races too.

Perhaps Nords and Redguards are against contraceptive methods :hehe:

Because Bethesda have the skills, opportunity and tools to create things modders can't do, or would have to spend a lot of time doing.
I daresay Hearthfire will add numerous things that existing mods don't.

The tools is pretty much the only things Bethesda have that most modders don't have, Bethesda can alter the sourcecode for the game, add things directly ot it and change how things behave, where as modders have a more limited tool to do the same things. Looking at mods out now you really see some mods that just oozes great skill and talent and I'm pretty sure Bethesda know's this and keep an eye on the mod scene to look for ideas for things to put in their DLC's but also talented people they can contact and maybe recruit.

I will buy the DLC for PC without thinking about it as the cost is pretty small and heck I like their work so might as well support them by buying their product. And DLC like this is a great way for Bethesda to offer console users the feeling of what you can have with modding and the PC users with even more animations and tools to make greater mods. :)

It is possible however unlike they'll add new child races. Bosmer, Dunmer and Altmer children could look nearly identical except for skin and eye coloring. The three elven races all share angular faces so as children they may look even more similar(save for coloring) Orcs, Argonians and Khajitt are trickier and adoptable Khajitt children seem like a long shot.

Also they have Breton and Imperial children, humans looking so similar you really can't tell the difference between any of them.

I could rather easily build my own house in the CK, but Id still rather pay $5 than make it myself. Reason being is that Id just spend weeks constantly tweaking stuff(which I HAVE done - in Fort Dawnguard) :P

Plus I dont entirely agree with current house mods being "better", but I havnt yet seen the full range of options/features that Hearthfire will have. Kind of difficult to compare them but honestly if youre a PC player you should be looking at Hearthfire as a modders resource and not something to compete with mods themselves.

its possible there may be more than house building and adoption. i'd like to see a re-marrying option and more races for kids. it'll feel weird adopting a nord kid as an argonian. seeing as this will probably be 30 day exclusive to xbox, it would give pc players a good idea of what they'll be getting before its released

We have the creation kit. Building a house in the creation kit really isn't a complex task. Is there any reason to buy this as a pc gamer at all? I really can't think of anything aside from adoption...

Because some of the housing mods on release have some bugs that will break your game, and with this coming out the modders can take it appart in the CK and build on it with their own versions which will add more variety.

To be fair, its entirely possible for Hearthfire to do the same thing going by Bethesdas track record.

Not that I wish to imply the current modders did a shoddy work, but savegame bloats are not exactly part of Beth track record.

One thing that the modding community can never achieve is to make new characters and quest with good voice acting. Very few audio mods out there. If hearthfire contains at least a few new quest, 5 dollars isn't much.

Hmm, you should search a little more then. Moonpath to Elswyr is excellent, then there is Falskaar that will be coming out. Both of them add new characters with excellent voice acting.

What is excellent voice acting anyways? I've seen many people complain about the voice acting in Skyrim..

This is kind of surprising to me. I'm sure there are some lower quality ones that do. But I've downloaded a bunch to try (usually more popular ones) and haven't had any issues. The only thing I've seen is mod conflict and that is in no way a fault of the modder. What kind of game breaking mods?

To stay on topic though, I'll probably buy hearthfire for a couple reasons. (i'm on PC) First, because I love TES and I'm sure it'll be cool for what it is. Secondly, the possibility of some great mods coming out that require it.

I'll buy it because I don't use mods. I am a mod free type of gamer.

I haven't played on PC since morrowind but my guess would be that there will be some new housebuilding mods made that use hearthfire as a base and they will be alot better and easier to use then trying to build a house with the creation kit.

Better question is: Why would anyone but a sims dlc for skyrim? Why not just play sims instead?

Though i can use the toolset to a certain degree, I probably couldn't script anyting in order to create a dynamic housing project. and though I do know that there is a mod that does the same thing, after looking at that fine mod I decided it wasn't to my taste. Well done as it is.

For 5 dollars or so this could be fine for me.

It's a pretty silly statment.

Elder Scrolls games can be about anything you want. Some people collect things, some people like creating cool screen shots, some people scour the countryside for mats for crafting potions.

If an elder scrolls game is supposed to be "a world' then what better way to feel immersed than to have some actual tie to that world. This just adds depth to the game for those who can appreciate it.

And considering there is already house buying and addons to these games, this just takes it to the next level.

indeed, this is just like morrowind stronghold building back in the day.besides its not like this lil dlc disrupted the bigger projects as this was done with a 2 man team not the regular team that is working on the bigger expansion/dlc's . so there is no problem with this and i will get it for modder resource :D

Most of the housemods I've downloaded have dirty edits. In fact, technically all housemods that are based upon any other interior cell, or that used a copypaste way to create exteriors have dirty edits, as both things are the source of them. Only that some people bother to remove them before publishing the mod.

I could always take one and clean it up, but finally I got tired and just decided to create a house on my own, and make it 100% clean.
