Will Bethesda ever fix the giant mace hits driving you to ou

How is it that when people don't like something in this game, it immediately qualifies as "bug" or "glitch"?

In my personal opinion, Bethesda went too easy on us. Ever realized why a dragons' vocabulary seems so limited and why they do not make use of FUS-RO-DAH (among other things)? Only the player and some select Draugr (always in interior cells) seem to make use of it. It's fun for the player in shouting enemies off a cliff, but when your enemies can send you cartwheeling off a cliff (or into space); it's suddenly a bug... Just because you do not like a certain feature in a game does not make it a bug.

When fighting a giant, you have to avoid getting hit and kill it before it sends you flying. It forces the player to think instead of just running in; thinking they can take on anything and survive. When you get hit by a 2-ton sledgehammer; it's only reasonable to assume the kinetic force involved on impact would cause temporary flight. It's their version of Unrelenting Force, yet they have to use a giant hammer and a power attack in order to achieve it.

Ever tried using stamina draining attacks or arrows in order to take it down? If a giant does not have stamina, it would not be able to swing their hammer. Basic combat tactics 101; weaken/drain/stagger your enemy so it can't retaliate. Using Unrelenting Force also makes quick work of giants as you can just shout them off a cliff too...

Maybe I should try to make a mod one day which would add Unrelenting Force to dragons among other things. At least that would force players to choose their battleground carefully and use tactics when the dragon lands or hovers in front of you.

Consider that doesn't happen if you survive getting hit, probably not.

That would have been a bad idea. Giving enemies the ability to instantly screw over the player, without giving the player some chance to avoid of mitigate that ability is not fun, it's not hard, it's just frustrating. No one should look at the concept of Nintendo Hard and go "Well, shucks. That looks like an excellent guide to game design.

Not when you thought it through and are standing with your back against a wall because you have learned that an enemy may have a certain ability. Besides, when faced with a Draugr that starts going 'Fus...' and shooting an arrow in its gut effectively nullifies the threat. All it needs is some forethought prior to engaging an enemy. When a giant comes 'charging' in, you drain its stamina, stagger it with arrows or Fus-Ro-Dah it off a cliff. The player constantly 'screws over' npc's; so why shouldn't some npc's return the favor?

Regarding dragons, I feel that they are just weak flying lizards. They are not the terrible monsters to be feared when a troll, a group of guards or a giant can just take it down without breaking a sweat. Makes you wonder why they need a Dragonborn.

The only enemy that feels overwhelming is the giant; because of its power attack. To me they should have included more such attacks, just to spice things up a little and make combat more interesting when facing giant enemies (although the dragons do have an instant-kill-move as well). Heck, even bears should have had some kind of knockdown attack in my opinion to make them more feared and respected.

I totally agree!! Once you have learned the actions NPC`s will take during combat, and have refined your tactics the game becomes a little easy even on master  I as well wish that Dragon's, death lords, dragon priests etc...etc... had the ability to screw you over and destroy you in a fight, but as of now all you need to do is put a little thought into a fight and you can out match anything you cross.

It's not a "bug" or a "glitch".....

It's a feature.

I actually have not had it happen to me since very early in the game, when I came across the first giant. Now, they go down quickly and easily. They never get a chance to do a power hit.

i never ever even thought about it beeing a bug or not.

i always found it funny and can easily accept it as an invented joke.

edit: btw. you will not fly to the moon by using a shield. yes, a shield even reduces the giants powerattack to nothing.

Oh trust me, it's lots of fun getting FUS-RO-DAH'd off of a tall cliff. There are several mods already released that added many more shouts to Dragons btw so no need for you to do it yourself (unless you want your own take on it out there of course heh). Makes for much more challenging Dragon fights when you never know which shout they're going to use and believe me, getting hit with Ice Form or FRD on the edge of a cliff is a Bad Thing?. A few examples from my last game:

I've also seen Marked For Death, Dismay, and Disarm used as well but those are hard to get screens of. I've had them used against me, however and they are as un-fun as you'd expect when used against you. Dismay does nothing vs you as the human player of course, but any followers, summons, and NPC support you may have will instantly run and hide or cower in place when it's used. Disarm can be very annoying indeed when used in a Dragon fight but it's a shout available to us so it should be able to be used against us. And MFD can make you very squishy if it gets used on you, not something that is helpful to your survival at all.

I may see if I can add in some of the other shouts as well. Whirlwind sprint would be funny as hell to see with a Dragon, maybe Elemental Fury as well (for Dragon melee attacks when grounded). Animal Allegiance and Storm Call also seem like they would work well for the Dragons in a fight vs the player.

I don't believe it is a "bug" in the proper sense of the word. Superfluous damage is converted into force with the games artificial physics engine. At low levels of health the clubs deals so much damage that the player's model is ragdolled with an extreme amount of force. Not really a glitch or bug but perhaps a bit immersion breaking. However when you are meddling in the affairs of GIANTS, I think realism may have to ride in the backseat.

Didn't Todd say at one point that the issue was identified at one point but they opted not to fix it because it was funny (same thing they said about the ability to get away with stealing by putting buckets over the heads of nearby NPCs). Personally, I think it should be fixed, but yeah.

You know the bug, it's there since beginning: giants with a power hit can make you fly to the moon...
Example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oso_mmhvm-Y
(BTW, why the giants move mouths but don't emit sound shouting at you nearby?)

Will ever Bethesda correct these kind of bugs/glitches? This product needs a bit more care, before new adds :(

no, they said any bugs that were found to be more "amusing" than game breaking would be left in.

tis' a trademark of the Elder Scrolls series, to have comedical glitches such as these.

yes, and it's already been covered on page one of this thread. It's also been pointed out that it in fact may not be a bug after all. Personally, I have doubts that Bethesda ever intended for Giants to actually send people into orbit to the extent that they do. Either way, I like it and see no harm in keeping it in the game.

IIRC, the devs stated that any bugs that cause hilarity but aren't game-breaking will be left in for the lulz. I think giants sending people into orbit classifies as that.

The semi-official mod "Fall Of The Space Core" mod makes use of it, that's how you return Space Core back into orbit.
