Will you buy Dragon Age 3?

Why don't people like the voiced aspect of it? I think I'm in the minority when I say I preferred it...

I actually thought DA2 was a good game overall - I liked the narrator, it was interesting. I hated the re-used dungeons and the over all "cheap" feel, but I only paid $25 for it. If I had paid $60, I would have been REALLY REALLY p!ssed

First off you get one voice and that voice might not be what you wanted for your character.
Second, they use a dialogue wheel where you have just about no idea waht you're gonna say, it's just one or two words and they often end up being something you didn't want to say at all.

I agree. I felt far more attached to my character and felt as though my character was real in the in-game sense, and belonged to that world. Whereas in games like this with no voice acting of the player-character, I feel slightly less attached, and far more aware that my player-character is just that and not really a character native to the game world.

Don't you think it's a little too early to ask this? There's no information about DA3, no screenshots, no concept art, no nothing. It hasn't even been officially announced yet. Even if DA2 wasn't a complete disappointment, I wouldn't outright claim I would purchase it at this point.

Truth be told, at this point, I have zero interest in the Dragon Age franchise, outside of watching the train crash. The writers and developers have made it quite clear that despite all claims to the contrary, they really have no [censored] clue as to what they're doing. The series began and ended with Origins to me.

Though I guess as long as all of EA's products require Origin to run, I won't be buying any of their crap anytime soon.

The problem is, there was no cutscene. It was a fight like with any other enemy, and Gaider's explanation was that she wasn't really dead, merely unconscious - or something to that effect. Which is lame, because everything indicated that you actually killed her. It's acceptable that Anders faked his death because we only find a burned body, but when my character kills someone with her own hand I expect them to stay dead.
Eh, it's not really acceptable for Anders on any level either. Not only because there are several things that can result in his death in Awakening, but there are several things that can result in both he and Justice's death as well. It's also possible that the two never meet, it's possible to not recruit either of them, and it's possible for Anders to not even become a Grey Warden.

Truth be told there's a lot about DA2 Anders that's just plain sloppy. His presence in DA2 requires a specific set of circumstances for it to make sense. The timeline for his appearance in DA2 and Awakening doesn't make sense at all. He has a completely different personality (handwaved by a bunch of crap that happens offscreen), and even has a different voice. They might as well have just replaced him with a new character and it wouldn't have changed anything.

I don't think it's too early considering I'm asking based on peoples opinions of the company as opposed to what it will contain. My interest is whether people have lost so much faith in Bioware/EA that no matter what was released, would it be bought? It was more 'are you burned' than 'what do you think will be in DA3' because that's a totally separate thread :)

Yes I will buy Dragon Age 3, assuming it continues the general flow and feel of the game. I love DA:O and DA2, Mass Effect 2 and 3 were great (despite the ending- Although it makes sense, I'm just mad I couldn't do anything about it)

Overall, I like Bioware and people are sometimes a little hard on them (and EA)

Seeing what Bioware is doing, I don't think I'll bother with their games - haven't done so since DA:O and Mass Effect and seems I don't have to in the future either (unless something unexpectedly positively surprising happens).

I wish they had made him a new character. I thought that Awakening's Anders was great: I found him very funny and likeable. DA2's Anders was the bad apple from a bunch of characters that I enjoyed by and large, and was the opposite of what we saw in Awakening: whiny, selfish and generally unpleasant. In fact I'd rather they'd just dropped the whole idea of Anders Mark II as a character.

Yes. I'll agree that DA2 had its flaws, but it was really enjoyable. For me at least. I'll invest in DA3, whether or not it changes the combat system, has a voice actor, or goes back to its roots. The Dragon Age series is one of my favorite, and their games are fun for the most part.

Honestly, I agree with you. A voice actor really made the game feel more alive. The speech at the end, the romances, just would have felt Dragon Age Origins "Meh" to me without Hawke actually speaking.

Then again, I have no problem with a silent protagonist. The voice for Hawke worked in DA2, most likely wouldn't have in Origins. I'm not sure about Three.

I'm guessing there will be a demo.

I'll try it and then decide, just as I did for DA2 and ME3.

I'll wait for reviews, but if the PC version has the same type of tactical combat that DA:O and DA2 had on the PC I'll probably pick it up eventually (I didn't really like the combat on the console versions). I found DA2 disappointing, but not the disaster that many thought it was.

I'm having fun with ME3 despite some of the writing (and especially the dialog) being pretty contrived. I didn't expect it to be a "hardcoe" RPG, so the streamlining isn't bothering me too much.

Greg Ellis made that character great in Awakening. Bioware should've had him do the VA work for Anders and hire somebody new for Cullen. Alas they went a different direction.

There's a smart one.

I realize that EA/Bioware is nothing like the old Bioware but I still haven't lost all my faith in them and l feel cautiously optimistic about the future of Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

He voices some (so far minor) characters in Kingdoms of Amalur too, and again manages to give otherwise irritating NPCs that same roguish charm. If they didn't want to use him for different NPCs in DA2 (and it's not like there isn't a precedent set for that sort of thing) they should've really just dropped Anders altogether, although I'm not sure he could've rescued the character given the dialogue and story that'd been written for him. What we ended up with really didn't make any sense as Anders IMHO.

I'll probably buy it eventually, but I feel like saying: Half the ppl that cried bloody murder about the ending will still buy DA3. Theres a pattern to look at.

(Timelind might be messed up) First DA2 came out and ppl screamed that it was dumbed down and Bioware sold out. Then...

ME2 came out and ppl screamed that it was dumbed down and Bioware sold out. THEN....

ME3 comes out and ppl screamed that Bioware had sold out due to the ending.

So why would any of them not buy DA3.

Nope, won't be buying DA3. I didn't even buy DA2, it felt far to rushed when it came out, and after playing it when a friend got it, and hating every second of it, I'm pretty much done with the DA series.

I will be doing a bit of research on it,if it is anything like Dragon Age 2 I will not be going near it.I honestly have no faith in Bioware at all, they are so out of touch with the fanbase it's not funny.Dragon Age 2 had no redeeming features apart from the awesome button

Maybe, but it's not looking good. I was a big fan of DA Origins but now I can't even be arsed to care. It's more than just Bioware, it's the whole odious Origin/ EA thing. It will take a lot to make me want to hook up to that mess again.

And I also anticipate it to be set in Tevinter, which is my favorite faction in the series (who would've guessed) and that would be a huge bonus to me.
After PAX it's almost certain to be set in Orlais. :yuck:
