Will you buy Dragon Age 3?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:14 am

Given the reactions to both Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, will you give Bioware another chance with DA3 or have they lost your money/trust completely?

Personally I really enjoyed DA2 so that certainly wouldn't factor into my decisions. And I wouldn't stop playing a series I really enjoy because I had issues with the end of another game they made in a seperate series. Saying that though I can understand why people simply wouldn't want the company to have any of their hard earned cash, even if it meant missing a potentially good game. Having been over on the Bioware forums (frightening at times...) it seems as though lots of people are cashing out and saying 'no more Bioware'.

Just wondered if this was true for people here or if you'll hold out hope that DA3 will return to the roots of DA0/ME1 and be a success, both financially and creatively?

Yes I will, but I will wait for it to be in a sale as I don't trust them enough to buy it on release day.... if they pull any of this dlc crap again though I might not even bother because frankly it's legal theft

I'm not sure. I enjoyed elements of both DA2 and ME3, but too many corners cut and annoyances like day one DLC, online authentication every session and so on have tended to spoil it for me. It's not really possible to reconcile the development schedule of a major RPG with EA's obsession with trying to get a release out the door every year and EA's been tending to win this battle at the cost of the games and their customers.

I'm kind of interested in DA3 but I think I'd be a mug to give them another chance to disappoint me. It'll probably come down to whether or not there's a decent collector's edition: if there's something tempting for £60 (or preferably less) then I'll probably go for it; but if DA2's "Signature Edition" and its attendant fiasco is the best we can expect, I'll give it a miss, at least until the GotY comes out. At which point I might still give it a miss.

Bioware would have to do something truly remarkable for me to even consider wasting my time with Dragon Age 3. A demo would be a must, and it would need to be a bloody amazing demo.

This isn't because of ME3, which I thought was a good game aside from the ending. I did not think DAII was a good game, and all my instincts tell me that DA3 is only going to incorporate the worst ideas from its two predecessors. DAII killed any faith or interest I had in the Dragon Age brand and team. It took the franchise in the absolute worst direction it could go: style over substance and instant gratification. I fully expect the next game to continue on this path.

I would be truly surprised if Dragon Age 3 was anything other than a complete disaster.

It really depends on what changes they've made.
I havent played DA2 or ME3, I watched my brother play DA2 and that was enough for me and I decided not to buy it.
If we still play as Hawke, have horrible release day DLCs and that cursed dialogue wheel I won't be buying it.
They already [censored] up with awakening IMO.

Yes I will buy it. I enjoyed Origins + Awakenings, DA2, MotA and Legacy (and sarcastic!Hawke is hilarious) so I will most likely buy DA3 on release, though I will wait for more information and the trailer before really deciding. Otherwise I'll buy it later when it's cheaper. The only thing that worries me is that you'll probably be forced to make an Origin account to play it, and seeing as they pulled DA2 off of Steam DA3 might not even be available through there as well.
Bioware definitely has serious issues, but the Dragon Age franchise is the only series they made that I like so whatever happened with Mass Effect 3 that has gotten so many people so riled up doesn't really influence me. They better not screw this up though.

After what they did to DA2 and ME3, I don't think I'll ever buy a Bioware game again.

DA2 was the biggest disappointment in my gaming career. I expected so much more, and they took all that made Origins the game it was and threw it out of the window. I felt cheated. I don't believe Dragon Age series can be saved anymore.

And it's not because of their games being good or bad, it's about their attitude and goals. I feel they lost passion and love for creating unique games; they do as they're told, do what is expected of them and not what they really want. They're not even trying to pretend - day-one DLC that was blatantly cut out of the game; a picture that took them whole 10 minutes to change in Photoshop; people who died in previous games and now suddenly make a comeback without any explanation at all, just because they fit the storyline; choices that don't matter.

I don't like the direction Bioware took in the last years and I'm not going to give them my money.

Leliana. She'll be in DA2 even if you killed her after the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest.

Okay, so that's "person", not "people". Still, it shouldn't have happened.

Ah okay. I always assumed she just hadn't died and had been saved (having read the connection between the two) but admit I've never killed her after the quest so haven't seen the scene...

I haven't bought a Bioware game in over a decade. They're certainly giving me no reason, since joining EA, to reconsider my decision.

Nope. It's clear now they're a very different company and aren't interested in making the kinds of games they used to. The first Dragon Age was the last hurrah, only because it had been in development since 2005 which was a different time.

The problem is, there was no cutscene. It was a fight like with any other enemy, and Gaider's explanation was that she wasn't really dead, merely unconscious - or something to that effect. Which is lame, because everything indicated that you actually killed her. It's acceptable that Anders faked his death because we only find a burned body, but when my character kills someone with her own hand I expect them to stay dead.

Mass effect 3 was great up until the last ten minutes which while bad got completely blown out of proportion by the internet. DA2 was disappointing but I think Bioware learned their lesson from it so yes I will be giving DA3 or whatever game they release next a chance.

Not sure, I'll definently wait for the price to go down. I still want to give the world another chance as I quite liked the lore they set up for it, they better go back to the origins elves though.

I enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins but it made my CPU run warm. It worried me. I always had to run it on only one core to get decent performance. I played the demo for the second one and that's really all I needed to play to know the series wasn't for me any longer. I wont be buying the third one either.

I despised DA2 but I think BW learned from its mistakes and I expect DA3 to be better.

And I also anticipate it to be set in Tevinter, which is my favorite faction in the series (who would've guessed) and that would be a huge bonus to me.

I just dont see where they will go with it, and if its just going to be the same, style as the last one, its probably not going to be much of a game unless theres a miracle and they can pull a rabbit out of their hat, and the way they went with ME3 im not sure where they set their priorities, if its DA3 for DA3 sake then its probably worth either sitting back and waiting for it to hit the cheap games, when i have a few dollars i can justify wasting, i wouldnt bother with a pre order since they arent known for their collectors editions, expensive rip offs yes.

I'm done with bioware, personally. ME3 is the last bioware game to join my games library. May Obsidian make sequels to all their IP's.
