Male cause I'm a guy.

Might play female to see different dialogue and reactions though.

Might play as an old woman, that would be pretty funny. Gets Lily as a companion, Girls night out!

Male character only, mainly because I like to extend myself into the games as much as possible.

Don't have PS3 and my computer is so bad it can't even start The Sims... 1....
I'll have to dig it out sometime, might keep me occupied until New Vegas is released. :)

Both.
First, i made a male do-gooder hero.
Then, i made a neutral kickass female.....

it's a RPG. Play as Male, Female, Ghoul, Supermutant, Dog, Brahmin, should make no difference to your immersion if you're doing it properly. Fallout is one of those games that do svck you in, regardless of what you play. Only sticky point would be virtual six plots, I can see guys having problems chatting up other guys :hubbahubba:

Both. First a stupid tank like male character. Then a Badass sniper female character.

I'am only playing a female character however if there are more hairstyle choices, I never liked any of them in FO3.

Edit-Sticky caps-lock.

I am a straight man, so i like girls. And personally i feel much more awkward playing as 'myself' in these games than playing with a character with opposite text. These games simply don't allow such interaction that being 'myself' would be comfortable. And my female charcaters are much nicer to look at too :hubbahubba:

In a game like Fallout, or Oblivion or Mass Effect, I'm always a male character. But I would rather play as a female character in certain games. I'm always Chloe in Uncharted 2's multiplayer, Sheva in RE5 (single-player and co-op), and I created a female character in my most recent play through of Demon's Souls. Is there anything better than a woman kicking ass? Probably not.

Those who don't want to play female characters because it's weird: It's not going to make you loose your man parts or make you look like a wimp in front of your friends. :)

I usually play only female characters. Being a woman myself, I don't feel as immersed into a male character.

I will play as a male character. It is because I want to be in the shoes of the character that I play as and that is one of the things that gives me that feeling.

Yeah, that can be where I get kind of held up in some cases. I remember one time playing Bioware's Jade Empire, and I picked a female character (there was the one avatar - the one with the legs, I just couldn't resist... :woot: ) And I have to admit that I did find the romance plots, after I was about 3/4 of the way through the game, started feeling a bit... uncomfortable for me.

If I were to make a male character, I wouldn't think of myself as being weird. :/

It would be more like that's my character in the game, and me playing the game, well, I'm his companion/partner/sidekick. We're traveling around and in it together. It won't mean I wake up with more testosterone tomorrow. :) I could roleplay it that way.

Just did a little bit of clean-up, here. Let's all keep away from derogatory generalizations, etc.

I found that in my first play through in f/3 with a male character interactions with npc's were a bit harsher but enjoyable , alternatively with a female I was amazed at how different these same interactions were . just a note I also tried to play each character as close to my personality as possible ..

If I have to look at a rear end running around for 500+ gameplay hours, it's going to be female.

I always play a male character. It always feels really really weird when I'm playing a character completely different than myself. I can never really get into it.
