Wish Werewolves could sneak

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:39 pm

Titles says it all. Wish I could sneak around on all fours and stalk enemies. There is an invisible timer on werewolf transformations so slowly sneaking around wastes time but it would still be fun.

Anyone else feel this way?

You can sneak to an extent, if you perk the sneak tree it carries over into beast form. The Light foot perk carries over and the Silence perk carries over, your not "stalking " like what you want but you are able to get the drop on prey easier then you normally would. Casting muffle before changing carries over as well giving more silent movement for 180 seconds.

But I agree, a sneak animation for a werewolf would really add to the form. You would actually fell like your stalking your prey, my pointers work but it's not the same thing as crouching in tall grass slowly stalking your target, then springing into attack.

Yeah, I don't get why they can't sneak. Would be awesome if they patched it in.

I agree, adding sneak to werewolves would make them true predators.

Edit: Also adding sneak would make werewolves more versatile and balance them out with vampire lords since VLs already can toggle between magic and melee.

There is a thread about this in the Dawnguard spoilers section, go to REL_Dovahkin's account, he is one of my friends, and click the link in his signature.

Well to be fair, werewolves are already pretty darn balanced out with vampire lords. It's all about how well you know your wolf and what carries over and what not. I can guarantee that I would be more then a hand full for a player controlled VL, I would even go as far as saying that I'm pretty confident that I would eat that player controlled VL.

I love this idea!. It would make being a werewolf so much more fun. I never really thought of a sneak option because the way the game has werewolves built they're just large ferocious beasts that have no mind for stealth.

I can't say it never crossed my mind. I'm a fan of the vampire and werewolf ideas, so hunting wolves had to pop in from time to time lol.

But I guess the thing is, werewolves are more about direct contact and rushing in like a mad warrior, where vampires are more reliant on their magic than their melee, the melee being more of a last resort. And they get the sneaking bonus during their humanoid forms while being balanced out with stat drops in the sun.

So even though the vampire can do magic and melee, I think it's more supposed to be like a magic/assassin mix.

Also in movies I guess the conscious werewolves dont hunt they just run up and raise hell, so maybe they went with that idea.

But I'm pretty much never against new ideas cause if I don't like it I wont use it lol.
And I like the idea of a hunting werewolf.

Haha vampiric grip looks so useful against giants. Although werewolves if they're good enough can ragdoll giants themselves. I can never get that sprint attack timed right for some reason.

I want the option to sneak as a werewolf too. I want to stalk my prey. Even if its just a goat.

Aren't werewolves just mindless, bloodthirsty, savage beasts? I don't really see them sneaking.

Wild ones would be I'd assume. But the werewolves in the companions are conscious of their actions so they wouldn't be so mindless, but still bloodthirsty.

I'd like to stalk the priest in Whiterun that's always yelling nonsense. I wouldn't even want to kill him. He's always one of the last people outdoors besides guards, so everyday when it gets dark and he starts leaving I'll pop out of the bushes and slowly follow him all the way home.

Mindless beast like a wolf? Have you seen them hunt? You wouldn't even know you were being hunted.

Doesn't effect higher level werewolves the same as people, it only stuns the werewolf just like my power swipe only staggers a dragon. Besides you need to get a lock on the werewolf which isn't an easy feat.

edit : If you need proof then do the Companions quest line and try V-grip on Vilkas when your trapped behind the gate watching him change into a werewolf, I'm also certain that it wont work on the werewolves trapped in Gallows rock.

As a werewolf with the sneak perk tree filled out I'm able to get within 10-15 feet of my target before they spy me ( as long as I stay out of line of sight ).10-15 feet is nothing to close as a werewolf, we can travel 100 feet in 9 seconds or 50 feet in 4.5 seconds so it's not that hard to get the drop on your prey when you have the sneak tree filled. But I do agree that a sneaking ability ( on all fours ) would add sooOOOOooo much RP value to the beast form, you would actually feel like your stalking your prey, but as it stands now you can only ambush your prey ( which is still pretty damn cool to do ).

I guess I should feel lucky that the NPC ones don't have sneak perks. :P

Yes you should, I'm able to wipe the entire map clean of all life while in werewolf form ( I've already done it once ). There's actually a lot of stuff that will carry over and boost your beast form, IMO vampire lord doesn't hold a candle compared to the werewolf. But the fangers haven't had as much time to get to know their form as I have with my werewolf, but I still wager that a player controlled werewolf would uberly destroy a player controlled VL, that is unless the VL heads for tight quarters ( indoors ). Out in the open the werewolf rains supreme.

Personally, I can't decide what form I like more. They're both badass in their own rights.

Oh most certainly and once the vampire fans figure out what carries over and what not I'm sure it will be a very effective form ( more so then it is now ) but I'm a HUGE werewolf buff so I may be a little bias  But I do have 9 months of trial and error and knowledge backing my werewolf.

By "mindless, bloodthirsty, savage beasts", it means they don't give a damn about who they harm or who dies, they will hunt and kill the person, since by all means they are animals.

Though werewolves are Hircine's top apex predators, skilled and talented. They sneak, they stalk, they hunt their prey as regular wolves would, except to a much more savage degree.
