Xbox 360 Complete Bug/Glitch List

Another... glitch? I guess that's what you'd call it. Or more properly, a huge typo.

While inspecting the body of a prosttute, the dialog box says:

"This girl appears to have been tortured for several hours and then murdered. Judging by the rate of livor mortis, you guess the body has been here for less than a day."

omg livor mortis thats way worse than rigor!

not a typo either actually makes sense if you consider you're just looking at her

li·vor mor·tis definition

I have a issue in the train tunnels between Raul's Shack and Brotherhood of Steel Safehouse. When I get to the stairs that leads up to that small room inside the tunnel, I just fall through the stairs. I am unable to make it into that small room.

Exactly the same thing happened me.

That floor is not rendered properly at all, it has no physics. Veronica and the ghouls aslo fell through it and we all teleported to the end of the tunnel.

ive found a few bugs none that have been gamebreaking just minor annoyances really someone mentiones falling into/through the rocks up by ranger station foxtrot that happened to me too it was like right south of the station on the opposite side if where the path is i was looking for a way over till i realized you had to get there from the other side then at vault 3 i think it was where the fiends are and motorhead when i try to sell him drugs if for example i picked to sell him 1 jet for 20 caps it would work but if i click the option for sell all jet for 20 caps each nothing happens for all 3 options for selling all opposed to just one my most recent one was in vault 34 and after i go through the overseerers office and use his terminal to unlock the armory then go down below to shut down the reactor off or something then upon coming back up and trying to go thru the door to the armory it blackscreens /freezes but other then that i think just 1 or 2 random freezes while just running thru the desert but all in all i think its an amazing game ive been a fan of the fallout series since 1 & 2 on PC way back when and it was great to see alot of the team from those back on this one i think alot of people are being too critical too early its a HUGE game and some bugs are bound to get through but theyll get fixed and theyll have another game of the year on their hands with every new game they release the fallout franchise gets stronger and stronger and i think its only gonna get better too

Found an infinite XP bug:

Prereq: 35 Medicine
Amount gained: 35xp

When talking to House after agreeing to get the chip for him, you follow this path of the convo:
"Who exactly are you, Mr. House?"
"You appear to be a computer, not a man."
"(Medicine 35) The lifespan you're claiming is impossible, except for ghouls and super mutants."
Success, 35xp. Possible to "Let's talk about something else." and repeat the process over again.

I posted a thread about this, but I didn't see this "complete bug/glitch list" until now. So, here is what I am having trouble with:

As everyone knows Fallout: New Vegas is riddled with glitches and bugs. I don't give a rat's behind about the graphics issues (although they are plentiful), but I DO care about the "quest glitches". The one I am asking for help with is related to the "How Little We Know" quest. In this quest I am to help out this Cachino character by blowing up a weapons cache with thermite, killing a psychopath (the guy who seems "too nice") and finally kill the two bosses of the casino.

Well, I blew up the weapons and I killed the psycho, and I tell this to Cachino whereas he tells me it's time to cut of the serpent's head, i.e. kill the two family bosses. Allright, finally some action; right? Wrong! After I select the dialogue option of "Let's go kill the bosses" (not the "I'm not ready yet" option) I only get told by Cachino to "get ready and meet him in the room". When I try talking to him again, he justs stands there and tells me he's busy since "it's time for the meeting". He does not show me the way, the quest marker is still located on him and I have tried walking all over the casino to see if there is some room I have missed.

Nothing works. The quest is stuck and no matter what I tell Cachino it just ends with him telling me to get ready and then he just stays there outside the elevator.

Until this is fixed, I cannot progress in the game (it's simply too infuriating). Does anyone have a solution to this? Am I the only guy experiencing this glitch?

All help is appreciated.

BTW: I play on xbox360.

Theres quite a few quest npcs that get stuck in loops like this, unfortunately until its fixed the best advice is to roll back to an earlier save (might have to be before you even started the quest) and repeat the process because as far as ive seen none of the npcs get locked in the loop "every time" its just random glitchiness. I did add it to the list however and thanks for the input.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

FYI: I have now tried to load the game at an earlier save point, but it does nothing. Cachino stays outside of the basemant cellar and won't move no matter what.

EDIT: See that you advice loading to a save point before the actual quest starts. That is 4 hours of game time (damn those alluring auto-saves). Damn.

Does anyone know when a new patch will be btw?

It's a waiting game at the moment. I'd like to think they have been working on the patch all weekend, but being a weekend I'm not sure. Here's hoping there is some news tonight/tomorrow. It's a shame people are falling foul to these bugs, I've still yet to boot my game up on the 360.

I have a glitch where I cannot aim or turn on the x-axis with the left thumbstick. This is the most annoying glitch, and I don't wanna have to reload my pretty old save... It's not my controller, because it still moves the cursor on the Pip-Boy map.

Hi all, just joined the forums to mention a couple of issues I've been having. Love the game but it is disappointing to see so many problems. However at least the guys seem to be working as hard as possible to sort them out.

Anyway, two problems I have had so far:

  • Hacking terminals - I think this may be down to me having remapped my controls. I have to click B to hack a terminal and when I do, the terminal screen will not load up unless I hold B down continuously. If I let go of B the terminal screen disappears and all I can see is a blurred background until I press B again to exit the view. It took me a while to figure this out, but since I have, I can repeat it every time - it comes down to needing to hold B rather than just pressing B to get into the terminal. It's not a gamebreaker once you know how to get around it, but it is annoying.
  • Selling items - I went on a stealing spree in Goodsprings and intentionally overburdened myself with a whole lot of things, including burned/scorched books, Iron, Vacuum Cleaner, and a few other bits. I got rid of some of the stuff by selling to Trudy, Chet and the Doc, but I still have a ton of items - including those listed above - in my inventory that will not appear in my "sell list" when I try to sell to those people I listed above. I can of course just drop them but it's annoying that I can't sell them to gain a few caps.

Hopefully these things can be added to their fix list, though I appreciate they won't be top priority. :fallout:

Just curious, did you try to use the wait feature to see if he goes to his room or back to the bar? Worth a shot, but you probably already tried that.

Well I'll be damned. It seemed like such an odd typo, but I never thought to look it up and see if it was a real word. Had never heard/read that word before.

I have one related to the "Wheel of Fortune" quest. I get to the point where you have to ask Boxcars where the rad suits are, but there is only one dialog option with him: goodbye. I've gone to the cave that was supposed to have the suits, but there's only one rad suit there, and grabbing that doesn't complete anything in the quest. So I can't advance any farther in this quest. I've seen people on other boards with this same problem as well.

Last night while playing I encountered a Giant Rad-scorpion with a health bar that would not deplete regardless of how many times I shot him, threw sticks of dynamite at him, used vats mode etc...
Thinking this one of the many bugs I've encountered I immediately reloaded my last save, only to encounter the same problem again in the exact same spot (somewhere near Good Springs cemetery).
Initially his health bar is full, but after I start shooting him it shows as empty and stays that way even though he's not taking any damage whatsoever. As you would suspect he inevitably chases me down and kills me because I CANT DO ANY DAMAGE TO HIM!!

the Weathered 10mm pistol is a pre-order DLC item is it not? Ive heard of this bug before just didn't know the name of the weapon

I'm getting that one too. It's actually kind of funny except you can't aim the weapon. I'm thinking I will just sell the weapon the stupid thing but now it doesn't show-up on my inventory list at any store I've been to. That really svcks because it is worth around 1300 caps.

I wonder if a patch for this is coming soon.

I had a music issue during the mission from Novac where I check on the nearby ranger station. Upon entering the ranger station there were a few things that caused instant death and a reload of an autosave. The music wouldn't stop playing into the next reload, but also a new instance of the music would begin playing. After several deaths, There ended up being multiple instances of the same radio station playing, just offset by the amount of time I took me to die again. I counted up to 4 separate instances of the same song offset by a 30-60 seconds. It was weird.

I also had an issue where I visited a main town (not sure what its called, east of the starting town where there are lots of signs of warning about death claws) and upon entering the town, there is a single death claw and lots of named and unnamed dead npcs. It didn't seem right to me that named NPCs should be dead before I even had a chance to meet them. Luckily the deathclaw killed me instantly and I reloaded to a previous save. I didn't go back there, but I'm sure that town is still a dead town killed by a wandering deathclaw that is far stronger than any of the NPCs in that town.

I've found instances where NPCs will be "floating" several feet off the ground and moving like they are on the ground.

Radscorpions no longer have faces to shoot. Not so much of a bug as an oversight from the previous game. I have yet to figure out how to effectively take them down even with entomologist. I end up using entire runs of ammo (200+ bullets) just to take a single scorpion down on normal difficulty. Maybe I am just doing something wrong, but there aren't many places to shoot at that aren't heavily armored or ineffective. I should point out I'm using a service rifle mostly. Haven't tried lasers or heavy weapons yet.

Along the lines of creatures, there are these dragonfly looking things that I cannot seem to kill at all. VATS says 95% chance to hit on body, head, etc, but when I activate, nothing hits them. I've tried this many times now and they seem to be immune. I've also tried shooting them outside of VATS (which is pointless in NV for some reason... didn't have this much trouble in FO3, but whatever) and even when I get a hit, their health doesn't seem to go down. I don't know what the deal is. Again service rifle.

One other thing that isn't really a bug, but has annoyed me with Oblivion, FO3 and now NV is the lack of a periodic autosave. Often times, especially in the beginning, things are far stronger than you and you will unknowingly walk into situations where you are greatly outmatched and can easily be outrun and killed. Then, you die and go back to when... a half hour ago save that was the last door you exited. I never understood why a 5-10 minute periodic autosave would be such a tough thing to put into said games and why it's not standard in this day and age (including games that aren't gamesas related). I guess it would have to make sure you weren't "in combat" before autosaving, but thats pretty simple as the game engine mechanics are already in place. It just makes exploring not fun by punishing players to do so. My perception level in NV is about 7 and most of the time, I dont even see enemies before they know I'm there. And reaver ghouls can easily outrun you and kill you long before you can harm them to any great extent early in the game. Anyway, needing to save manually every few minutes takes away from the "adventure" and I typically forget to do so in a timely fashion.

This is from the Bethesda FAQ that might explain your issue with items in Goodsprings.

Q: The items that I stole are not showing up in the Vendor screen.

A: If the items stolen belong to the same faction as the vendor, then those items will not appear in the vendor menu: I.E. You cannot sell Goodsprings stolen items to Goodsprings vendors.

So like most everyone on these forums, I too ran into the game breaking bug of my save files becoming DLC corrupted. After reading the various posts here figured i'd attempt a complete list of currently known / experienced bugs. As people respond to this I'll add to the list, please avoid repeat posting of bugs.

-------------------------------

Current Bug Count - 27
-------------------------------

Game Breaking Bug(s)

Various stages mid game - DLC error that corrupts most if not all saves.

Controls randomly locking up not allowing progression (involving vault 19 / ranch house nearby)

Becoming Stuck in the Lucky 38 Penthouse because Victor wont respond so travel not available

The Strip becoming locked requiring a non-existant key

The Strip black screening upon loading also corrupts auto-save

"New Game" glitch xp going over 100% but not allowing player to level up

Location Bugs

An issue in the train tunnels between Raul's Shack and Brotherhood of Steel Safehouse. Stairs that lead up to a small room inside the tunnel player falls through the stairs.

Visual / Audio Bug(s)

Camera issue involving first person perspective where the players arms go up and down on the player screen... almost looks like jump rope with your arms

Male characters using female voice when recieving dmg

Blank Pip-Boy (Black) screen issues when using computer terminals, lock picking, sniper rifle scoping, binoculars, slot machines. (Cerulian Factory terminal may initiate)

Questline Bug(s)

Quest "That Lucky Old Sun" Infinite XP involving Ignacio Rivas and overloading Helios One

Quest "Restoring Hope" attempting to enter Dead Sea's Hut can cause game to freeze

Quest "I Put A Spell On You" multiple quest bugs including the train exploding even after you have diffused the bomb.

Quest "Still in the Dark" Harkin/McNamara bug near the end of the quest making it unable to complete

Quest "ED-E My Love" Quest Lockup involving the BoSteel asking you to see them

Quest "The House Always Wins Part 1" Swank doesn't always recognize the Chairman Job Offer Note

NPC Bug(s)

Chris near the end of Fly With Me becomes stuck in a loop saying he's waiting for the launch even after you've completed the quest

Multiple No-Name npcs saying the opposite of what happens involving multiple quests - like saying Primm accepted NCR rule even if you get the NCRCF sheriff

Buying/Selling duplicate items to an npc causes semi-infinite money gain

Victor elevator problems involving Lucky 38 Casino

Infinite XP Bug involving Mr. House Medicine 35+ and repeatedly stating his life span is impossible.

Enemy NPC Bug(s)

Bad spawning points and/or pathing problems involving enemies being stuck in the ground

Possible Nightkin bug involving cloaking and loading a save (phasing cloak might be intentional however so not making this official yet)

Weapon Bug(s)

Repeater Shotgun locking up / trouble reloading / shooting stuttering

(pre-order item) Weathered 10mm + Silencer Mod Visual & VATS problems

Item Bug(s)

Companion Bug's

Veronica's Dialog stuck in loop near end of her quest line

Companions missing when reset to home location

Companions iniating combat with non hostile targets

Companions randomly dying / disappearing (fast travel fixes disappearing "sometimes")

------------------------------------------------

I know there's more so keep the responses coming! I'll also update this and state which ones get patched as that occurs.

some of these are repeats, some aren't:

the game crashed when i opened the door to the mirror field at helios one. twice.

after a third attempt, i made it into the field, and then it started getting choppy and jumpy. that soon ironed itself out, only to have the sound get super screwy (technical term) and sound like someone was hitting mute and un-mute repeatedly. then it just crashed again.

another glitch upon entering that field is that about 10 dogs start leaving the door and piling (heh. dog pile.) up on each other for no reason. the other thing that happens is about 15 barrels fall out of the sky onto me!

the arms raising to the top of the screen thing is still happening.

npc's occasionally just walk knee deep in the ground. which is fun, but then they can't get anywhere you need them to. (example: not too much of a spoiler.. the captain in the office park doing his duty with me as back-up, couldn't get into the building he was heading toward because he was stuck.)

i found a radscorpion pinned vertically to a rock, still alive. it was neat because i thought maybe the legion crucified a radscorp, but then it started crawling down into the ground.

and once out of every.. maybe 15 times, i'll be in vats and my guy won't shoot a single shot, which results in never coming out of vats. he just stands there until he gets shot to death, taking it like a champ. albeit in slow-mo, which looks funny.. but annoying if i'm in the waste and haven't auto-saved or manually saved in a good stretch. i understand a good fix for this is to manually save more, but i shouldn't *have* to rely on saving for a game not to glitch me literally to death.

in the strip.. i confronted benny, survived the ambush, went to his suite, and talked to yes-man. upon taking the elevator to the subbasemant and investigating, i leave to come back up (btw, neither ed-e nor veronica follow me down) and the game crashes..

another new thing as well: npcs are now just falling down whenever i jump around them. although funny, not conducive to a fun gaming experience in terms of pushing the story forward.

The exact same thing keeps happening to me with the Radscorpions. This game is the biggest fail since fails began being documented

My biggest problem is enemies, especially creatures, falling into environment or flying 100 feet away after killing them. I also had an instance where I was fighting a convict, who disappeared, only to magically reappear 10 minutes later. Other then that, I'm 10 -12 hours in and there was no lock ups so far because I remember to soft reset cache every time I load game. Im not doing any of the buggier quests until a patch is released. I also think that regularly deleting saves and creating new ones help.

Add Euclid's C-Finder not firing, leaving all the save games unable to fire it. It also leaves permanant tracking lasers if it doesent fire right.

Hey guys, found a couple of little issues which have caused my 360 to crash on numerous occassions.

Mojave Outpost

After fast travelling into the outpost I approached the wandering trader directly in front of me and initiated a trade. After trying to purchase cards for the Caravan deck and then pressing X causes the console to crash. After trying 7 times I established that I was able to purchase anything else without it crashing but not cards for the deck.

Ranger Outpost Up-Track From Novac

Ranger outpost just out the way from Novac, after trying to enter the HQ building to the right of the entrance the screen turns black and causes the console to crash, happened twice.

Also having issues with no background footstep sound effects whilst running on various surfaces, ie, Metal in the Helios Building, Water, etc.

Cheers. :)
