Just wanted to say that, so far, the npcs use ammo mod seems to be working well with xfo + iws. I saw some NCRs fighting some Legion near Boulder City and what started out as a fire fight devolved into a melee scrap--which is great imo! Then I zipped in with my posse and finished the legion off. Loving it.

So far this game has been a huge success. I cleared Primm hoping to stay neutral at first with the powder gangers, but I ended up having to kill a couple in self defense (blah). So, I finished the Goodsprings standoff quest and then tried to make it to Novac through the mountains as per roleplaying and survival reasons. Modded Cyan Raider Girl and Ed-E backing me up. I snuck past the powder gangers near NCRCF and then hit the mountains. Killed a whackload of scorpions but eventually made it to Novac. Got some supplies and added Boone to my posse along with a much-needed hunting rifle. Then I had the info I needed to head to Boulder City. Along the way I hit 188 for supplies and picked up Veronica. Talked my way through Boulder City and am now pointed toward the Strip. Once there I hope to add Gannon and Rex and then I should feel a bit better about my survivability, assuming I can keep my posse supplied.

I love how much challenge XFO + IWS adds. Have to think WAY more about strategy/tactics. I'm using DT 0% bleedthrough and it seems hugely tilted toward heavy armor. I might move to a bit of bleedthrough just because heavily armored enemies are like tanks and I can take quite a beating when wearing some myself. Armor should be helpful, for sure, but not a cure-all, unless it's power armor (and even then...).

Even light legion armor though is 50 DR when fully repaired, which made my eyebrows raise a bit. Tough to bring those svckers down. Fun times :P

Unfortunately, it seems that NPCs use ammo is a bit buggy, now that I've had some time to play with it. It would be awesome if XFO incorporated something similar (but less buggy) in the future :)

A few scenarios where npcs need to fire weapons to complete a scene and don't seem to have the ammo, so the scene gets locked in stasis. Most annoying so far has been in the Garrets' place with not being able to get past the opening sequence.

Really, really too bad, because it is a great mod otherwise (I'm still using it until I find something better).

Update:

Added Gannon and Rex and have been doing quests around freeside and the strip. There are a LOT of quests in these areas that you can do with minimal combat risk (especially if you play your cards right). I'm now approaching level 14, have Cyan, ED-E, Boone, Veronica, Gannon, and Rex as followers, and just got my hands on a sniper rifle (also have that machine) and 5mm assault carbine. I'm starting to feel a bit more confident about venturing back out into the wastes, but I just wanted to say that cutting across the mountains at Primm and then pursuing the MQ route adds a lot of followers (assuming a multiple followers mod) with minimal risk (esp if you are careful). Then it gives you enough quests and loot that you are much stronger when you venture back out into the wastes. For RP and survival reasons, this just seems to make a lot of sense to me, as if you continue south from Primm, there are a lot of gun-toting lunatics who are ready to end your low-level life and I've found that loop from Primm down to Mohave Outpost to Nipton to Novac to be VERY challenging for a low-level PC with limited allies and equipment.

So, thought I'd share :)

Damn, this could become all I'll ever need, but until that time where do you recommend placing it in the load order (FOMM)

well i don't know if that's me or anything but when i use the vanilla pacing esp (6be) i looks like i need far more xp to lvl than without it, getting 6000 xp with kills that only gives 10 xp is a little hard
the rest is really good even if now i tend to be one shoted by every gun in the game when using the 1be plugin but it might be me being too weak

How exactly does the two perks per level work? I tested it out, and only managed to get one perk. A few second later, the level up screen loaded up again, but I wasn't able to go to the perk screen. After I closed it, I received fake exp.

EDIT: Also how does 1b Non-Var work? How would it affect added or modified weapons?

I recommend using this combination:
medium from realistic health v1 (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34736) + x1 damage esp + one of the "low" armor esp

It works perfectly for me, not too soft, not too harsh and dont screw up modified or added weapons

I also recommend these hidden gems:
-New Vegas Exlposive Knockdown mod (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36174)
-NVR Lock kicking (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38652)
-NVR Lock bombing (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38653)
-NVR Common Functions Library (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38649)

Something could be conflicting with your two perks every level, but this is how it is suppose to work. Once you level up and fill out your skill points and perks, a few seconds later another skill point screen pops up. You can not change anything here but you click on the accept option and it should take you to the perk screen.

Ok from what I read it doesn't have too much effect on the weapon at all. Your gun skill will change the accuracy a little bit, but that is all.

Hope this helps!

Epic skills if your lock pick is over 100 keeps spamming "epic lock lock this door" whenever I am sneaking, even if I click yes or even if I don't point at a door.

Could you somehow make it so that if I am in sneak and go up to an unlocked door that I have the option to "use door or lock door"

I am also getting spammed with the epic lock pop-up.
Could it be changed to a configurable hotkey (look at door, hit 'L' or whatever and the epic lock dialog opens) instead of depending on sneak status. Some of us spend a lot of time sneaking.

Also - perhaps an epic skills inventory item to use for setting configurable keys and any other options, viewing true skills and stats values, etc.

Overall, this is A Great Mod -- or Bunch of Mods.

Thank You!

Hello,

Some fans of XFO have requested that my Mail Order Catalog mod be more XFO-friendly. Therefore I have released a new version of MOC that incorporates the fBarterBuyBase value into the sale price. You want your goods more expensive, you got it ^_^

Request - can you add something that makes enemies attack the pc only and ignore followers? I think this is the cause of why the game is too easy no matter what I do. I can always let followers attack first and then never get attacked unless they die. I'm currently not using followers, but that's not the best solution in my view. The game is a million times harder without followers. :)

Except Rex. I am finding that I have to give him the Dogmeat treatment and leave him behind at one of my houses because he just charges in blindly with very low armor and then gets immediately killed by any enemy wielding a decent gun. :(

But, yeah, I have a good squad of followers right now with decent armor and they do a good job keeping me alive. But, I play dead-is-dead, and I feel I wouldn't get very far without their protection.

It's interesting though, I want Veronica in BoS power armor, but then the NCR turns hostile and then if I start killing NCR Boone threatens to leave on me. So, I can't have her in BoS armor whenever NCR is around. And, I have to always consider leaving Boone behind whenever venturing south because I'm playing nice with the Legion for the time being (I have the mark of Caesar) and he makes that impossible.

I couldn't imagine fighting the Legion especially going solo. I play with some of the very hard settings from XFO + IWS and the Legion are super tough to bring down, as their light armor has 50 DR. You get a mob of them firing decent weapons at you and it is trouble for sure.

i would like to add that i am also getting the "lock this door: lock or no" spam from Epic Skillz every time i sneak, even if i am not near any doors! only bug i am having with mod (mod collection??), however.

also i have a request: could you make different versions of your SPECIAL modifications with, and without, removing HP gained per level? Or maybe versions with various amounts of HP gain per level (vanilla, +3, +2, etc). Only asking because i had to remove the SPECIAL mod when i made a melee char. Even with 8+ endurance, and the light leather armor from the merchant pack, poor guy was getting stomped all the time...

in conclusion, i want to thank you for XFO. it makes NV thousand times more fun and i cannot play without it. XFO + IWS + AWOP make NV a completely new experience

glad someone agrees :) the "no HP per level" system worked great on my sniper char, and fine on my energy weapon scientist, but my melee chars just get stomped so i had to remove the mod on him (which svcks because i like the other changes he makes).

Yeah, the whole "never bring a knife [or brass knucks] to a gunfight" totally applies with XFO :D I've definitely had more success with a sniper char and once I get my hands on a sniper rifle I feel pretty good about my survivability. Of course, armored characters are still very tough to bring down :)

Yea, I spent last night swearing my head off because a few raiders with .44 Magnums kept One-Shotting me, and I was at full health
I tried Metal Armor, got one-shot, I tried Leather armor, got one-shot.

So on about my 10th reload I had to just run like hell while ED-E kept them busy long enough for me to get out of range.

Besides, it seems kind of silly to start out with 80 HP and then have a No Level Cap in the mod,
so by the time you're level 100 you still have 80 HP and everything else out there can kill you just by looking at you.

Can you imagine your survivability in any other RPG where your HP stay the same at level 50 as they were at level 1?
Especially in a RPG setting where playing something like a Thief that only gets you about 4 hp to start

Ive yet to try melee/unarmed for NV but in FO3, i had no hp /level and higher weapon damage. one of my solutions to balancing was a mod that added gun spread/sway for both the PC and NPCs when in melee range. forgot the name of the mod but was hoping someone would make a mod like it for NV.

also, while playing as a ranged character i could already see the problems that my planned melee character would face so im looking into making melee formidable when up close.maybe giving better chances of knockdown, knockout or crippling. melee fighters should be wary of the shooters but own them when he manages to get in their faces.
