Do you dislike the Dark Brotherhood - Skyrim?

"Oh my, you stole our killz".

I mean, if they kidnap you for stealing their kill, imagine how they'd react if you started quickscoping, or jacked one of their care packages.

Wait....what? Wrong game :D

J'Ghasta.
this guy was bada**,wish there was a member like him in this DB.

Khajits and Argonians are well known for their skills in stealth and thievery.
That's why these two races are not very welcome in skyrim and i like it that way.
I would like an elder Scrolls Elyswer XD.

But back top the DB, i'm sure Bethesda studied the possiblity of the different factions, but that a lot of great idea's has been removed due to technical possibilities

I liked it at first, but after a couple of playthroughs of that one long, tedious quest, I cleanse the hideout.

I did like the Brotherhood in Skyrim and there were some good bits, I just felt the whole questline was a bit rushed. One second you're the new guy and then you're listener. I wish that there was like 5 more assassinations after the first one, you don't necessarily gain rank as the brotherhood no longer works like that, instead you're fellow assassin's come to like you more and you gain more new abilities/equipment. Although the Nazir contracts added something to do, they weren't particularly interesting... I would have preferred they ignored all of those contracts but gave you a few bigger ones at the beginning. I felt like you had one quest as an assassin then after a certain somebody (not trying to leave spoilers) arrived it was all working towards one objective... Just my opinion, I still like the quest but in Oblivion I felt more like an assassin. Just a quick q, how do you put a spoiler button in?

Theres a thought, Elpresador doing a LP of Skyrim. I can picture it now

"Damn this game is easy. EEEEAAASY!! I'M TOO MUCH OF A BEAST FOR THIS GAME, ITS GOT (female dog)BLOOD. ALL YOU NERDS GOING "OMG, SKYRIM IS AWSUM" ARE SO *LAAAME* (joker laugh). Seriously, how can y-" (here elpres comes face to face with the dreaded horribly OP enemy ice mage and gets one shotted with an icicle) "What? WHAT? WHAT THE (intercourse)!!! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN..." (rest of the commentary descends into incomprehensible rage about how terrible the game is before eventual ragequit)

I think most of the guild in Skyrim were really really really underwhelming comparing to the Oblivion ones. It actually held a meaning being a guild leader in Cyrodiil. In Skyrim is just MEH. The Dark Brotherhood is the meh'est of them all unfortunately. I really liked being the Listener in Cyrodiil, you even had new clothing. In Skyrim no. I guess after Umbriel and Dominion invasion all the guilds suffered heavy losses

Dark Brotherhood is my favorite guild in Skyrim. Sure it could use some improvements like not having to walk all the way back to the Sanctum every time you want to take another contract.

my character hates them (they do try and kill her). personally i don't mind them, but i just cannot bring myself yet to play any of the dark brotherhood quest lines (both in skyrim/oblivion).one day though i do plan on doing so (as i have heard the quest lines are great in both).

The thing about the skyrim dark brotherhood's quest is they're fun but not as difficult and memorable as the oblivion ones (excluding the last two/three quests) in oblivion it required more skill, stealth and planning

That's just my opinion

I like the DB with my Argonian character.
The possibility to restore the old dawnstar security, Conitious quests from the nightmother and prisoners to torture and to feed from (as a vampire).

But it would indeed great, if some major quest about the future of the DB would be added.
I also would like to let lucien roam freely in the sanctuary or even bring him back!!

I've not done them yet. On my first character I destroyed them. I'm just not an assassin type of character when I play. Though on this character, I was going to do it - yet - I still can't pull the trigger. I've heard after it is complete, you continue to get quests forced on you... True or not on that score?

Not forced on you as such. They're added to your quest log, yes, but you have no idea who your mark is until you speak to someone. They're also radiant quests, meaning it's not forcing major things into you or anything.

The Dark Brotherhood is evil. But they know it. It's what they do. The faction quest line is (IMO) the best in the game. The DB does what it is supposed to do. The internal strife and personalities of the members is fairly well done. Add to that if you don't want to be evil and don't want to ignore them you can destroy them. (Yeah that may be a spoiler, but honestly should this question even be in the General section if we are going to talk about the ins and outs of the DB?).

Who I HATE is the Thieves Guild. They are just a bunch of thugs and bullies with no redeeming qualities at all. They can't even run themselves as they are technically overseen by Ms. B. And you can not restore them to a more honor bound Imiperial sanctioned Guild. All you can do is make them bigger bullies.

One reason I prefer the Oblivion Brotherhood is it seems alot more structured, the way the family members act and speak makes you believe you're part of an ancient order that's been in power for hundreds(or more, idk) of years. Everything seems more organized and different. Another thing is, I found the quests offered more variety. It was always something different, possibly challenging. For instance, the classic Whodunit? quest in Summitmist Manor was hilariously fun to redo and watch each of their reactions as they are each slaughtered mercilessly one by one. Aswell as taking revenge upon Valen Dreth for his sharp tongue during your incarceration(My phrase of choice was "You're going to die in here."). The twist in Oblivion's Brotherhood storyline after you advance from sanctuary matters was stunning and completely unexpected, yet exciting every inch of the way as you tried to uncover the antagonist.

The reasons I dislike the Skyrim Brotherhood (Not entirely, it was still kinda fun.) is very well could have been a random group of people calling themselves assassins that happened to find an ancient ruin as their lair. They had no real presence in Skyrim(In Oblivion, the Dark Brotherhood was spying on many places and people regularly and had many rivals trying to stop them, such as Adamus Phillida.) In Skyrim, it seemed more like a Mercenary group. You could just run through the quests with your sword and no sneak (usually) without repercussions. In Oblivion, you either forfeited a bonus or made a quest nearly impossible or very difficult to complete. I admit that
(*Possible spoiler*) the Emporer Twist and the Sanctuary Destruction took me off guard, but then the Brotherhood killed the Emporer and recovered immedietly, gaining all sorts of new recruits and a new sanctuary + listener to boot. Then you have repetive quests to kill nameless targets with nameless significance. Course, I do like the outfits and the vampire child. I do miss the tenets and general Sithis worship D:

(No hate, I stilll like them. This is just why I like the Oblivion one more.)

I mentioned in another thread somewhere that I preferred Skyrim's brotherhood over that in Oblivion, so I'll re-iterate that by saying I don't dislike the Brotherhood. Although my characters have a worrying trend of late involving wiping them out..

I'm probably alone in this but there perhaps should have been more emphasis on the Astrid/Cicero clash. By emphasis in this case I mean stretched out a little more.

I thought it was generally considered the best questline in Skyrim, which is the camp I'd join, didn't know there were this many haters.

The fact that people only know about the DB from Oblivion already shows that people truly have no idea what the brotherhood actually is like. Of all the TES games, it is Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood that is unlike everyone else. Ya ask me, the Dark Brotherhood was great, until a certain assassin showed his crazy ass. Heck, before him, it was more like the Dark Brotherhood in Daggerfall and Morrowind, and I liked the company I shared the space with. Also, I liked how the player was not suddenly treated like he was the greatest thing since slice bread; you were just another member of the family.

Its not that I don't mind walking back because the place is nice and homely but you can only take one mission at a time then go out talk to someone quickly kill the target with no fuss and then you have to walk back. I would preffer to take more than one contract at a time even if the others are lesser in pay just for the fun of killing someone.

I recently tried daggers and OMG that is so fun to sneak up behind someone and slit their throats. Which ranks on the list of the creepiest things i have ever said.
