If you don't have Turtle Beach headphones, you don't love Sk

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 10:04 pm

I'm using a pair of UE700's that I bought after accidentally stepping on my UE 5 Pro's (Logitech was nice enough to give me a discount after I told them my sob story, even though it was totally my fault, and I bought the headphones back when Ultimate Ears was still its own company.) Those are plugged into an Onkyo receiver (that's sort of on its last legs but gets the job done) which is plugged into an old PCI X-Fi. What bums me out is that it's connected in two ways, through my mobo's onboard optical connection, and through the anolog component surround jacks on the X-Fi. The optical connection ends up with zero noise, but doesn't let me adjust the base on my receiver, so its totally gutless and I end up using the X-Fi jacks.

I use my Astro headsets for every game I play :) They sound the best with Battlefield 3 though.

Great when arrows whistle by your ear. I have them too, TB 7.1s with amped sound. Really immersive and the neibour doesn't bang on my door any more

I use a cheap ($30) set of gaming headphone with 5.1 speakers cranked to provide some tactile feedback.

Whatever brand the headphones are, they sound excellent for the price and provide better positional audio than my D2000 does.

Skyrim NAILED the sounds in the game.

I take all of the speakers in my house, and surround them around my head... turn it on full blast......... and then mute Skyrim.

That is just how I roll..... OG right?

I use my Bose noise canceling head phones. Nothing comes in, nothing goes out.

Exactly! I have a pair of Bose QC3 headphones and Skyrim sounds awesome!

Seriously, my dad got me a pair of the amplified headphones and Skyrim. I used them the first day, and they rock. I love these things. Allows me to hear directionally, so things be hind me sound behind me, left sounds left, etc. Plus I can use them while using my surround sound, or turn my surround sound off and play through the night without pissing off my girlfriend or the neighbors. If you don't already have a pair, you really need to make the investment. If you want to do it right, get them with a Niko charger station and you can use the USB port off the station rather than your console so you and keep all the calbes close to your surround sound, not dangling from the console near/ in front of your TV.

LOL. this is seriously mistaken. there are plenty of as good headphones for the job that are better. And if you already have a PC with a good sound card you don`t even need headphones like that.

It`s just your 1st experience and you think there can`t be anything better.

Quality stereo headphones + sound card with Dolby Headphone or CMSS-3D > crappy headset

If this is your first time hearing directional audio, then I see why you're excited. But there are better alternatives

I just have the sound on my TV. I wouldn't mind a decent sound system, but I never have the spare money. : S

I use my ears. It's a pretty awesome built-in audio system.

How do you connect them to your computer? :P

I use a Corsair Vengeance 1300 headset, with my built in sound card enableing 7.1 surround sound, yeah, I hear the difference. (Bloody well should for £80 with SR3)

If you aren't using a STAX SR-009 setup you're doing it wrong.

Spoiler
But I'm too poor for that and prefer speakers anyways. I need to get myself some HiVi Swans.

I currently hate mine, the speaker in the left one has decided to come loose and smashes around inside whenever I move my head, so damn annoying. :swear:

Turtle Beaches aren't that great. Gaming in general is greatly enhanced by a good set of headphones though.
