Do you have platform regret?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:58 am

I have Skyrim for PS3 but I wish I had a great Desktop Computer (Don't think it will run on a crappy laptop) so I could've had Skyrim for PC instead because of the awesome(And naughty) mods you can get.

You will be suprised, I'm on minimum req specs and running on ultra on my HDMI telly. Unless your PC is a real piece of crap you should be able to run it.

The pc version is clearly superior and if I had a good desktop I would get it there. On the other hand back in my pc gaming days I got fed up with all the hussle of it. Hardware compatibility, software and driver updates, stupid DRM activations, random crashes, hardware updating and so on. I'm loving it on the PS3 so far!

Since I spent $2,500 on an oversized Xbox, right down to the USB Controller, specifically based on promised of having my face melted, then "Yes" I'd say I have a little platform remorse.

I have a silver halo reach limited edition xbox 360 and I only use it to play xbox exclusive games, because I don't want to wear it out and get RROD like my previous xbox 360. Playing Skyrim on my PC doesn't make me superior. What makes me superior is playing Skyrim with my 50 inch plasma hdtv, my gtx 580 graphics card, and my professional quality speakers. :celebration:

Well....yes and no. That's not really an answer is it, hahaha. I got it for 360.

1. I am way more comfortable sitting in my reclining arm chair playing with a controller. My cat is also happier and has a choice of who's lap to sit on :D
2. I get to play on our big LCD tv. Also has better sound than my laptop.
3. My laptop may run it, but it would be at lowest specs and still probably jerky.
4. 360 won't have as good graphics as a top end computer.

My regret is really only centred on the fact that I won't be able to use mods. This makes me sad. I want a carryable camp set up for my wilderness adventures. I want saddlebags and horse call to make a horse actually worthwhile and useful. And whatever cool things people make.

But oh well. By the time I can afford to buy a new computer, there'll probably be DLC and GOTY versions etc. And I wanted to play it now. But again, playing on pc may create control-suffering, and possibly not a giant screen ;)

So really....no I am not suffering platform regret.

360 won't have as good graphics as a mid grade computer

i will admit to being stunned by some of the graphics that the high end pc users can see in the game (just stunning).in no way am i knocking my 360 version though (that is stunning too).but if i could afford a hi end pc to run the game then i would definitely buy the pc version also  but i love my 360 game

Nah, even if they did abandon PC players, we will always have the superior version eventually thanks to mods.

Even if that's true I certainly would never act like that. Everyone has a right to buy PC, PS3, or 360 and not get put down and made to feel stupid for their choice. It's just a game after all. The idiots who play the superiority card because of the type of system they play it on just irritates the hell over me. No one is more inferior or superior to anyone else over a freaking video game.

Again...this. -.- And again. Not everyone can't afford a top of the line amazing PC.

I'm a PC user, but don't feel superior to anyone else. Whatever works best for you and enhances your gaming enjoyment is what counts. I've been playing games since I purchased my first computer (C-64) in 1982, and have been using a PC ever since.

What troubles me is that I've spent more time these past 4 four days trying to figure out why certain things don't work, than time spent playing the game. That's the only thing I'm not enjoying. But the game is great, the video is fantastic, and if I have to use certain keys to do things that are not the keys I should be using, so be it.

I used to be an avid PC player for my games, but about 7 years ago I moved to consoles and have not regretted the move. My xbox is cheaper than a PC, contains most of the games I want to play and allows me to conveniently sit in my comfy chair in front of my TV and play, plus I love the controller.
I've never been really interested in mods and felt that most games like skyrim and fallout already have so much in them.

I agree with this. There is so much to do in this game. The other day, I realized that I could stalk people to pickpocket their goods (some people carry great accesories!)

That's a whole aspect of the game that is going to consume my time. Then there is crafting/smiting, etc.

There is already enough for me to do in this game. =)

NEVAR.

I bought on PC so I could play mods. I will never regret that decision.

Also, I don't own any consoles.

That is all.

I regret not playing on a console, because I can never see the loading screens

I love you.

Getting it on the 360 means I have to share with my brother, and unfortunately I can't afford a gaming computer or another 360 and TV, so I'm stuck with fighting him for it.

I don't understand why anyone would get it for Xbox and not PC. It's the same game and nothing stop you from using the controller with the PC version. Maybe you're in denial about your platform regret :P

By the way, we have the same graphics card.

Easy for me. I'd rather just pop the game in and play than to have to deal with the hassle of operating system conflicts, corrupt files, files that conflict with each other, or performance issues because im spending more time trying to get the settings right than actually playing the game.

I've played games on PC too long, and now I know better. Too much hassle. I love the plug and play, no hassle of playing on X-Box.

Plus I get to track achievements with my friends who are playing the game too.

From what I hear 360 is the best version so far and if I remember correctly they will be getting the DLC first. So yes I am happy with my choice.

I highly enjoy playing on the PC, especially since the horses are more fragile than the guide book makes them out to be. If you jump from a height of more than a few feet, your horse will kick the bucket, and it's nice to be able to just console res it. However, to me, the mechanics on console have always been easier. Not only are the controls more natural for most, but you can also sit wherever you want while you play. Luckily, my boyfriend got it for the PS3, so whenever I'm longing for that console experience I can just do that.

Another note: I also like playing on the PC because I can backup my saves, and I can also bring them with me if I want to play the same characters on another computer. Or, in another instance, if I let a friend play and they decide they like the game and also buy it for the PC, I can send them their saves so they don't have to start over :)

With Bethesda games, I always buy console first, and if I really like it, I get the PC version when the GOTY edition (you know there always is one!) comes out. By then, patches are added, dlc is part of the price, and there are roughly 10^13 mods available, because after playing it to the ground, I like the random stuff that can be added/

If I could have got in on PC I would have since I think that's how games like this should be played. But I'm happy enough on console.

No, I got it for PS3, and my comp could never run the graphics that the PS3 could.

If you do have platform regret, then please elaborate! Maybe you wished you got for PC for the awesome modding community or got on PC and wished you got it for your PS3 so you can play on your big screen!

Playing on my PC, hooked up to a big screen. Best of both worlds.

Dead comfy sofa and a 52" to boot.

For me, made the right decision with my good ole 360.

Either way I'm glad I didn't get it for the PS3, bethesda loves trolling those poor sony blokes.
