Do you have platform regret?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 4:29 am

Simple question, and please be honest.

The other day I was playing Skyrim while sitting on my bed and I was navigating through the awesome menus (love the setup!) and said, "I am so happy I got this for 360." I really did say that. It was late, and I may have been tipsy, but I still feel that way damnnit!

As you can tell from my superior hardware listed below, I could have gotten this on PC, but didn't. And I'm happy about that.

If you do have platform regret, then please elaborate! Maybe you wished you got for PC for the awesome modding community or got on PC and wished you got it for your PS3 so you can play on your big screen!

Nope. Playing on 360 now, and will buy for the PC in the next few weeks. So best of both worlds.

I don't understand why anyone would get it for Xbox and not PC. It's the same game and nothing stop you from using the controller with the PC version. Maybe you're in denial about your platform regret :P

By the way, we have the same graphics card.

I regret not playing on a console, because I can never see the loading screens

I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo close to getting on PC. I was going to invest in some USB cable and schlep my PC from my ultra superior 24" LED monitor to my 32" TV in my room. But that came off as too much work; you know schlepping the pc back and forth from my office to my room. In the end, I went with 360 for convenience of a controller, no extra cost and comfort of playing on my bed.

And hell yea this graphics card rules! I have friends come over all the time to tell me how much better my BF3 looks then theirs. It makes me feel special.

I've always preferred to play on the PC, and I don't regret having bought it for the PC, but the poor interface does leave a really bad aftertaste. It's just absolutely obvious that they didn't care to make the interface good, on PC it's just awful, and even on console I don't really think its great, like why do I have to fly around in space just to check my skills, wouldn't a comprehensive list sufficed? Why aren't the items I have equipped put at the top of the list of items I own so I don't have to search for them? Why doesn't a vendor buy items you just purchased back at full price so that if you ever buy something expensive on accident you have to load the game to avoid losing 80% of the money? Why can't I remove quests that I'm not interested in doing from my quest log or tell the NPC that I'm not interested? It's kind of stupid...

Ummm it's perfectly easy to understand. Not EVERYONE can afford some top of the line , amazing PC to handle Skyrim. I really wish the PC people would stop holding it over our heads as if console owners are somehow inferior and stupid for not playing on PC. I have my copy for the 360. No I don't have any regrets and yes it is a good console.

To be honest, from what I've seen on this forum, it's actually the other way around.

Even if that's true I certainly would never act like that. Everyone has a right to buy PC, PS3, or 360 and not get put down and made to feel stupid for their choice. It's just a game after all. The idiots who play the superiority card because of the type of system they play it on just irritates the hell over me. No one is more inferior or superior to anyone else over a freaking video game.

Agreed. Tired of the platform flame wars on here, the game is virtually the same across all three, with some minor graphical differences. No idea why people need to turn it into a debate about which system is better, when in fact 'better' is entirely subjective.

Not so much, as much as I hate the UI, changing platforms wouldn't change anything at all. If anything, playing on PC gives me hope that all my problems will soon vanish with the talented team of modders that are already tackling the many problems in this game, without the creation kit I might add.

Simple. 21" monitor on PC vs 52" HDTV on Xbox. I seriously debated which platform to choose for Skyrim, as I've played both Morrowind and Oblivion on the PC and I love having access to mods and the console controls to be able to fix quest glitches. However, after buying a used copy of Oblivion and playing it on Xbox with the big HD screen and surround sound, I decided to start out with Xbox for Skyrim. Not to say that I might not add the PC version sometime in the future.

I didn't regret buying it for my PS3 untill I got a copy to see how it ran on my 4 year old PC. I'm running it on ultra with enhanced graphics mods and now regret getting it for my PS3 lol. Crazy thing is my PC isn't even a hard core one from back in the day.

No
I'd have to buy a console and a TV. Lot of money to spend for 1 game plus I'd lose out on mods.

PC, since I don't own either console.
So far I'm satisfied with my version. The UI could be better, but I don't get all the hate for it.

Hey guys.

I was looking to get this game, but I cant decide which platform to get it for should I get it for PS3 or Xbox? Also if you could provide why one is better versus the other.

Thanks.

I'm a little annoyed at never seeing the loading screens either! I'll see a really cool model like a dragon, or catch half a sentence that sounds interesting and informative, and then it's all gone. The longest load screens I get are when I load a save for the first time in a play session, and that's only about 3 seconds. All the others are 1-2 second affairs.

I have Skyrim for PS3 but I wish I had a great Desktop Computer (Don't think it will run on a crappy laptop) so I could've had Skyrim for PC instead because of the awesome(And naughty) mods you can get.

I was posting about this earlier... I'm playing on my juiced up PC connected to my 46" Samsung LED LCD HD TV. It Looks Amazing. I've got the $20 microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Reciever for Windows and my old Xbox 360 Controller connected. (my Xbox crapped out for the 2nd time since i've owned it). The Controller setup for Windows and Skyrim is amazingly easy. When you launch the game after the controller is turned on, it changes the interface as though it was on the Xbox itself. In fact.. I would assume that is why the PC UI was set up like this... I can sit on my couch and play just as good as on an Xbox, even better i would say.

I'll be able to mod the game with the PC Platform. Ya'll are stuck with just DLC.

I also bought a new laptop, an ASUS G74 model, 17.5". I can connect the controller to that also, and play it in bed, or at the airport, in the truck, at the deer lease, at the lakehouse, on a plane. Anywhere.

I'm going to go ahead and say i've got the 360 beat in every possible way except Cost. But what's money if not to enjoy life with? I'm actually pitying anyone that bought it on Xbox who has a system that can run skyrim. They'll be regretting it awfully soon.
