So, a simple question: Do you like the appearance of the Imperial Legion?

Personally I like their new look.

It's much more preferable than that gaudy monstrosity of plate armor in Oblivion. I also like that the shield is a diamond, representing the Amulet of Kings. Very lore friendly. Captain Helmet is very nice too

No, this appearance is one too much. They should disappear for a while.

The sword could be smaller, but overall it's a good look.

I find them a bit to ''Roman'' for my taste. All the references and ranks makes it to obvious and I would really like them to have a more unique identity.

It's cool. Afaik, I can't upgrade the studded light armor though. A shame. I like that look compared to the regular light armor.

Its not really a "new look" these apparance was used also in Morrowind.
Dont forget that you are also in the 4th Era now, so tactics and uniforms changes.

For me it is their old and true look.

The Empire was based on the Roman Empire, and I loved how they looked in comparison to the backwater inhabitants of Vvardenfell (Morrowind). In Oblivion they were too much made to look like they came out of Lord of the Rings. The entire province of Cyrodiil was re-imagined to fit LOTR. It was supposed to have more warm climate. I'd imagined it to be more like Rome based on the description in Morrowind. Shame what they did to Cyrodiil in Oblivion. This is why I like that they've brought back the old and real look for the Empire in Skyrim.

Gives this nice atmosphere where you have the dying Empire and the barbaric rebels that they are trying to keep from power. I especially like all the ruined Imperial forts around the land. In Oblivion it was weird that everything was broken and small, here it fits. Few roads, few settlements and everything is broken as the Empire is losing power and wealth.

Most of them fit, but I've noticed a few forts right along mayor roads, where I just can't see a reason for letting them fall apart, hell a few of those forts actually have the road going right through them. You'd think that the Empire, Stormcloacks, respective Jarls would at least care about that.

I don't like how they're not wearing pants. I prefer the Cyrodiil legion...

No, they don't belong in Skyrim. They should take a vacation down to Elsweyr. May your travel lead you to warm sands.

In some ways yes, in some ways no.

I did like parts of the Guard Armour in Oblivion, because it didn't feel so blatantly Roman. But it was a bit dull.

I really DO like the shields, as others have said. Because it allows for the Imperial Dragon emblem to be pretty ornately crafted into it, and also kinda mirrors the Amulet of Kings. But I wish the colouration of the armour wasn't quite so Roman.

No i didn't. I'm just ridiculing the fact that they are dressed for a mediterranean campaign, rather than a scandanavian one.

I suppose the look is ok, it just reminds me too much of Roman Legionnaires, which is not ideal when you're playing Skyrim. It's also too much alike the FONV Legion, which, again, is not ideal when you're playing Skyrim. A bit more creativity here would've been ok.

I'd say that's true for all the sleeve-lacking bandits out there as well.

I like the "new" Legion. I just wish they had a bigger presence in Skyrim, I would have liked to see the Imperial Cult make an appearance again (if that's possible lore wise). I also miss the Templar armor.

Yes. We get it. They're identical to the kind of clothing the Romans wore when invading Britain and other places.

The question is, should they be?

I've always been a fan on the Legion. Guess it's because I helped them all the way through Oblivion to protect the Empire. Was kinda sad when they tried cutting off my head, but I understand now that it was all just a bit... miss understanding. Their look in Oblivion suited them there, because it was more of a industrial area, the buildings were all made out of stone, it looked more clean, colourful. So their appearence represented that. Now, in the harsh rugged land of Skyrim, they look like they are outsiders. Trying to stake a hold in this unforgiving land. Which is why they looked like this in Morrowind.

Actually it's their old look from Morrowind. I think it was a bit overdone this time. Perhaps some kind of look straddling Roman and Saxon.
