Personally I don't. Anything that gimps my customization is bad in my book.

When I suffered through Oblivion, I never particularly liked having to worry about whether or not I was wearing pants. Plus it was just more ridiculous encumbrance (another micro-management thing that I don't need in any game).

So I think it was a good idea to merge greaves with torso.

They said it was for performance reasons. If true, I'd prefer more NPCs on screen than seperate greaves. Even though it was another enchantment you could have.

I suppose it would be nice to be able to mix and match like in Oblivion, but I can't say it's my number one issue with Skyrim. I don't really mind about it. There are loads of other things which bug me more, namely the cap on followers being set at one person and one dog, damned health regeneration which can't be turned off, random dragon spawns at frequent intervals when you just want to explore in peace, followers with armour which can't be freely taken, and other little annoyances. It would be someway down that little list of priorities.

If they should have had more armor parts they would also need to change the way enchantments works. if they had 6 pieces of armor instead of 4 the current enchantments would very quickly become overpowered. I wouldn't mind to see there being more armor slots it would allow for more variety when putting on armor. And more customization isn't wrong. :)

I would've preferred pauldrons be a separate piece so we can change our looks more, like what we have with steel armor.

Given the stated reason for why they strung them together (performance), then yes, it's a good idea.

Having said that, I do miss the individual pieces. Let us hope that its a one off? :)

I want Morrowind's armor system back... I think what made me angry about Skyrim is they have such few armors and merged them is half if not more of the armors and clothes clip through each other so you're basically forced to wear set armor and even they clip at times.

If that's the case I do hope for the next console generation, they are possible to include it without affecting performance.

Nope.

The reasoning of course is flawed because the "performance issues" aren't an issue if the game isn't ported to where it doesn't belong.

Not an huge problem, enchantment are linked to equipment type, however this let you get one more enchantment.

Downside is far less variation, gloves and boots you don't notice much unless they are totally out of place.
Say you have 8 outfits, that is 8 combinations, however with top and bottoms you get 8*8 variations, yes some of this will be stupid, so say 8*4 who is four times the numbers.

Only upside is that you don't get clipping issues between top and bottom, this was the reason most armors in Oblivion was the short jacket style. However it's no problem having both. You still has plenty of armor clipping in Skyrim, lots of gauntels dont macth all armor and none match robes, dresses clips with any boots is another.

I would like Pauldron selection. Dawnguard pauldrons but ebony colour on Daedric armor would be nice.

I don't have anything against it. Most pants would look best with their matching cuirass anyway.

Those of us that have the required equipment need not suffer because they're trying to conform to an 8 year old box for teenagers.
Don't like it don't play it. You could always play Area and Daggerfall they were made with PC in mind  plus you have mods and CK, and texture packs what do you have to complain about I mean really. Not to mention when something is broke on your platform you can fix it, I have to wait for patches.

The average age of a gamer today is 30.
Skyrim sales on Xbox 360 are around 6.33 million presently.
Skyrim sales on PS3 are around 4.15 million.
Skyrim sales on PC are 2.46 million.

Good day.

where do you have those figures from?

Nope.

Of all the excuses they gave for the merge (more NPCs on the screen, better designed armor, loads of smithing options to make armor look different instead, etc) none of them actually made me think "this was a good tradeoff" when playing the game.

I still think the main reason they did it was to further streamline the game and make it more accessible. After all... the average non-RPG fan might find lots of armor pieces overwhelming...

Regardless, they are wrong. Skyrim has sold over 5 million copies on PC. 5,012,468 was the highest number of people playing Skyrim on Steam at the same time, Steam's record so far i believe.

Steam doesn't report their sales numbers, which is why they seem so low on most stat sites

those sales figures do not cover digital downloads from what I have heard so I wouldn't throw them out as facts. Just FYI. :)

which was why I asked him also and according to his answer he used the same source so many before him have tried to use and not realised doesn't measures digital downloads.

Skyrim did set the biggest record for most people playing it at the same time for quite some time so it sold really well on PC. :)
