Nr. 1 complaint: The Interface
It is just terrible on pc (no, a controller is never ever a substitute for mouse + keyboard). The Interface has to few hotkeys and you cannot bind two weapons/spells on one key. Additionaly the Questlog has too few information about quest. (timestamps, JOINED FACTIONS!!1, misc. Information [trainer etc.], although it could have been easily added to the statistics page)
I do not know why it had to be a flash overlay. whats the deal with that? I hope we get alot of fixes for this.... thing...

nr. 2 complaint: no spellmaking ;(

Instead of cup half empty threads, this should have been named: "To do list for modders once kit arrives" :)

Social interactions and the majority of quests are dull and boring.

The journal is one big pile of boring junk, it is polluted with broken quests and mundane ones.

Huge lack of story driven quests with moral dilemma's and choices.

Terrible console port

Scratch my last post, this thread needs to be updated for links to Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

I would say my only disappointment so far was some of the hoop jumping to get it to look and play well for my PC system, but once that was out of the way I haven't found anything so far that disappointed me. Although I have no history with Elder Scrolls, this is my first game, and my first game of this style of play, so maybe people who are genre fans and have a history will no doubt find things.

The interface - whether using m/k or controller - is a real pain to use, especially if you like to use a variety of weapons/spells/etc. I'm forever scrolling! It's a real immersion killer.

I can't imagine it would be difficult to at least fix the hotkeys, and maybe give us custom filters. Roll-on the mods...

No unarmored skill. Also your followers get a little dumb sometimes. My follower stood right in front of me as soon as I shot and arrow and I killed him -.-. No mounted combat too.

My biggest disappointment?

I cannot marry Hroki!

...And before anyone looks at me with daggers in their eyes, I hope Bethesda address your bigger fish issues first before mine. ;)

Mine so far is not being able to equip sets of spells/weapons with one bind.

Why can't I equip muffle+invisibility as a set? Why can't I equip detect life and detect dead? Why do I need to use two of my already absurdly limited binds to equip a sword and board?

I could effectively have twice as many hotkeys, plus it'd just be far less of an awkward hassle when it comes to equipping stuff. I can't believe I've been able to play as much as I have in spite of the pathetic control scheme.

We really shouldn't have to wait for modders to fix it, it's one of the biggest issues on the PC, despite not technically being a bug. A huge disappointment that Bethesda hasn't done anything about it yet or even acknowledged it as an issue.

That, definitely. Going from one set to the other with hotkeys is too painful, I end up just going to the favorites... which is also unnecessarily painful.

The first thing that really disappointed me was the lack of spellmaking, though. Mostly because I wasn't up to date on that issue before launch, so I started playing with that assumption in mind and then realized that without it, the depth of the gameplay I was expecting to experience went out the window.

Esbern is at the top of my list. For Beth to hire someone of Max Von Sydow calibur and the fact that the character was shallow is a huge disappointment. They were better off using someone else. Guild Lengths are also high on my list but that I can overlook because the guilds are still good.

I haven't finished the main quest line yet so I don't know if Maven is crucial to how things play out
but I'm pretty sure if she isn't, then the player could be given the option to beat her into a fine pulp
and sacrifice any quests that you could do involving Maven. I'd give them up in a heartbeat.

This.

Practically everybody in the game no matter how unimportant seems to be immortal.

Frankly, in the past month the thing that disappoints me the most is the negativity of so many of the posts on this message board. Not this thread, which is mostly just a list. But some posts are so ridiculously negative that they disappoint me in my fellow gamers. Are people really that picky and negative about a game that is mostly amazing?

I know, I know, welcome to the internet. Still...

It's not THAT amazing if you're not a newcomer to the TES series. I have played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim so I'm used to this style of playing.

And because of this, because I have played Morrowind, I can't look past the short the fetch quests (even for Bard's college, wth). the lack of immersion (you can become a guildmaster after 2 quests, no ranks, no effort to become guildmaster).

Some of the mechanics are an improvement, but a lot of things were left unfinished and unbalanced to make it to the release date, and it shows. The more you hype a game, the more picky people will be about your game.

So it's all fine, and it's good that people complain. When they'll start demanding more, companies will have to deliver better products for us if they still want to sell stuff.

Maven Black-Briar being unkillable and unable to drive the Thalmor and their little heretic round up squads out of Skyrim back to that rat hole known as the Aldmeri Dominion.

I cant be disappointed with there being no spellmaking, because that was announced before the game, but I am disappointed with the lack of spells and spell effects. I am also disappointed with the short faction quest lines, poor dialogue animation for some characters(such as Cicero), lack of unique items that are unique in appearance and not just name and stats, and the lack of unique and epic boss battles other than dragons. But other than that, I love this game, 170 hours total clocked into it.

My biggest disappointment is that Merchants don't have enough gold to buy my loot. Usually a couple of gemstones wipe out their funds.

to sum up my biggest disappointment with this game: "streamlining".

This, the game is def "streamlined" I was hoping for a morrowind-esc game play with graphics better then oblivion. Guess that will never happen <_< but hey at least they didn't ruin the series like bioware did with Dragon Age 2, so that's something to be happy about.

-Edit-
Also forgot to mention how short the quest lines are and the general blandness of their stories. I loved the DB storyline in oblivion and was extremely disappointed to see DB's storyline in skyrim. Good thing Cisereo (sp?) has some funny one liners, glad I kept him around.

if i'm not mistaken you can "exterminate" Thalmor by killing everyone in their embassy, there are 2 parts ..the MQ related area and the other where all these traveling thalmor are living.. meh have fun  i wish i could join thalmor "freedom of choice" riiiight :sadvaultboy:

No hand to hand skill tree.
No athletics.
No acrobatics.
No spell making.
The illusion of choices.
Pointless marriage.
Bad companions AI.
Flawed magic system.
No spears.
No neutral choice in the civil war.
Not working on PS3.
Badly written guild quests and main quests, overall.

This! /Signed.

Plus:

- Some quests are so sick and twisted that looks designed by a social psicopath or a twisted serial killer

- No spell making...if something is overpowered or not, it's futile in a single playe game...i prefer to have something in the game that i can choose not to use, then something i want to use and i can't have!.

- Please stop to make quests where good people are tricked/mistaken in to make evil actions...that is not fun, it's pure insanity and sick!
