If I had to pick one, I'd pick Planescape: Torment. But VtM - Bloodlines, Fallout 1, and Fallout: NV would all be contenders. I guess I'm a fan of the Black Isle/Troika/Obsidian style.

Just as the one hundred other threads of the same name.

Planescape: Torment
Baldur's Gate Series
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodline
Fallout Series

I haven't become interested in RPGs until a few years ago, but my pick would have to go to Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 3 trumps it in story, but the amount of depth more then makes up for it.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Construction Set. :D Haha seriously, Morrowind, Final Fantasy IV, VI, IX and XII, Diablo 2, Digimon World 2003, Daggerfall, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Skyrim... I'm sure there's more but I can't remember. If I'd have to choose the favorite I'd be heavily torn between Final Fantasy 12 and Digimon World 2003.

Is it the same res. mod you can use for Baldur's Gate?

I need to play and FINISH it next time I get around to installing it again.
What des modded PST look like ?

My laptop broke, im a cheap bastard and wont fix it (why spend money when I can invert the screen and read upside down) so I cant play games, but im still curious to see what the modders have done with such an old game.

For jRPGs, Suikoden II. Although Suikoden, Tales of Vesperia, and FFIX aren't far behind.

For WRPGs, Skyrim. Modded Oblivion is pretty close as well. That'll probably change once Skyrim's modding scene takes off.

Since Pokemon is classed as an RPG Ima pick that but besides the obvious love for Pokemon I'd have to say Fallout because it's based in a setting I've wanted to play in for years and it gives me the freedom to explore that wilderness, now all they need is a "forge" like mode for me to make my own :P

Fallout 1 and 3. Though both are lacking in specific fields compared to other Fallouts (gameplay/longevity for Fallout 1, second-grade writing for Fallout 3) they have most of that post-apocalyptic feeling and mystique that dragged me into the series in the first place.

BioWare's RPGs also deserve a special mention, except DA2 of course.

Dragon Warrior.

It started the whole video game thing for me.

And I can still hum the overworld theme, all these years on.

Its a tie between Morrowind and Runescape. I loved both of these games for different reasons. I played RS for about 3 years straight and quit back in 09 when it got to the point they made everything so much easier for all the whiney kids and the ones who didnt want to put in the time to get anything.
I loved Morrowind for taking me away to place where I could do what I wanted, when I wanted, and for as long as I wanted. Simply getting lost and having fun exploring. The detail in this game at the time was amazing and by far the best RPG that I had ever played.

So far Dark Souls has taken the cake for me. Every part of it is memorable. I literally think about how relieved I am to have beaten this one palce or am always wondering what is around the next corner.

Things like that make a game for me. Brilliant.

OP Guess Chief, go on, no clues or nothing..

What des modded PST look like ?

Looks really good, I'll take some screenshots and put them on photobucket and link you up later in PM.
As for what's added, they pretty much took a fantastic, perfect but broken game.. and repaired it.
Not modded in the extent of Beth, but the fixes alone are worth it. Pity PS:T was dropped somewhat, I shudder every time I think what could have been if given more time and love.

Overall...probably the Shadowrun pen-and-paper RPG (not the video games).

As far as video game RPGs go...

- Wasteland
- Fallout 1, 2
- Baldur's Gate 2
- Curse of the Azure Bonds
- Knights of the Old Republic
- Phantasy Star
- Deus Ex (the original...if you consider it an RPG)
- Arcanum
- Wizardry 8
- TES III: Morrowind
- VtM: Bloodlines
- Planescape: Torment

Sorry, I can't pick just one. I've played way too many cRPGs. :D

One... that would be (off the top of my head at this very moment) my beloved Knights of the Old Republic. I love that game so much.

Quest for Glory 4. It was just so wonderfully funny, interesting, varied, creepy and altogether fantasy-ish. It was the first game as a child that really engaged me, and still does so to this day.

Runner-up: Final Fantasy VIII.
