A stealthy character and story. I haven't found awesome stealthy characters yet so I hope this is the one .

John Marston could not, for example, decide to be a pacifist who hated guns. JC Denton and Mr 47 could be.
47 could not decide to be a pacifist, because he's a killer. ;)

But the freedom in the Hitman games was great. I hope the new one is a well worthy successor to that.

It seems the surprising amount of freedom we're going to get is my most anticipated aspect. Combat, the game world, story and atmosphere are up there too.

Emergent gameplay, mainly. Hitman: Blood Money (and the Human Revolution beta leak) are the only two recent games to offer this once-common idea, so naturally I look greatly forward to the game. I also love the Imperial Victorian architectural styling. I'm British (some might say extravagantly so), and it's nice to see a developer who uses British 19th century design cues rather than the more commonly found steampunk/American 19th century design ideas (which are also cool, but are a little overused in gaming).

Basically, I expect this game to play like the love-child of Deus Ex and Arcanum, with elements of Thief and Half-Life 2.

Oh I see you're here as well along with the Deus Ex forums. What caught my attention was the co-director Harvey Smith, the mastermind behind Deus Ex. I looked into the game and it seemed so similar to the many-paths approach that the Deus Ex games preach. That is awesome. Oh sorry, forgot to introduce myself, I'm new here.

Player creativity, but much else besides. I'm totally on board with the design philosophy driving this game. It looks like a remarkable mixture of Thief, Deus Ex and Dark Messiah among others.

I am just excited. I was going to get Deus Ex, but I need to save money for other important items as well. Since this game will be released a year later, they have a great chance to really improve the gameplay. A lot of developers look at how other games play anyway and try to make those better. I wouldn't call it stealing. So I have some confidence that this will be an improved version (not a clone) of DEM:HR in the stealth aspect. I am also excited to see how powers stack for effect, and how you could go about your business.

First person stealth. The fact that it is a 1st person stealth game is what caught my attention at the first place. Everything else is second place. The original Thief games are the best games that I've ever played.

I am also a great fan of realism games (tactical simulation), such as SWAT3, original Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon and the mod Infiltration. One of the reasons why I like stealth games is because they are naturally more slower paced and realistic (more realistic movement, leaning, better AI, etc).

I'm exited for this game because it sounds like TES when at first, but then you realize, it's an RPG like it, but it's way more than just that.

Mobility. I want to be able to do Mirror's edge type things, stealthfully, and use stealth takedowns like Jason Bourne. Hell yes.

You should hold a contest at the game's release for the "most creative kill" or perhaps, the "most creative way to avoid killing someone".

I'm liking the dynamic gameplay that encourages self-empowerment and experimentation. In too many games you're just participating in a strictly designed experience, which would be fine if it wasn't the same contrived experience we've had for years. Arx Fatalis, Theif, Dark Messiah and of course Deus Ex all had great dynamic gameplay.

That sounds like an idea !

But even "most creative kill" might be limiting. Some of you will probably come up with very creative ways to not kill people too  , and could also be rewarded the most profoundly stylish yet utterly pointless action !

I am SO excited for this game. With every little bit of information you guys release I get a little closer to heaven.

Some of my favorite games being...
Deus Ex
Hitman
VtM:B
Splinter Cell

I also really enjoyed Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah, and Thief, for different reasons.

Dishonored is my dream game... Well, my really-a-dream game would be the simulation, design principles and philosophy of Dishonored combined with Deus Ex's unique narrative style and the Elder Scrolls massive open world. You guys are thinking about a sequel right? :hubbahubba:

the various ways to complete a mission like in the gameinformer article how it tells you 4 different ways to get through a mansion. The mysterious powers given to you by the outsider and of course possessing a rat.
I couldn't just list 1!

That you can do stuff without resorting to violence. Good stealth game systems are few and far between and it's interesting to see a game where you have alternative routes to objectives. To kill or to sneak through and past? That is the (ultimate) question.

I'm really looking forward to freezing time when an enemy shoots at me, then possessing the enemy and making him walk around in front of the bullet so I can say "Stop shooting yourself, stop shooting yourself!"

I'm really going to enjoy stopping time, possessing an enemy, and leave him standing in a toilet.

I'm just looking forward to a good first person action game. I've only played a few of those over the past years and one of them was Dark Messiah (and the other one was Mirror's Edge)
