Your #1 Most Anticipated Part of Dishonored

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 12:50 pm

Everything! This game sounds amazing and I simply can't wait to play it!
I think that that whole exploration side of things is really great and that you can approach a situation from any way you want because of it
Secondly the moral and ethical side of this seems amazing. Fable 2 had a similar approach in that if you made a decision at one point in the game a certain area would be different later on. That was really cool to see your actions physically transforming the world.
Last but definitely not least will be the actual look and feel of the world and the game as a whole. I really enjoy the steam punk genre and that mixed with Gothic influences sounds like a brilliant combination.
Overall I am really excited about this game and I look forward to congratulating Arkane Studios on their work.

Honestly? The rats.
LOL?

For me- taking on everyone like a mad man, the thrill of 1 man army battles, with plenty of creative killing, creative character upgrading, and looting, exploring ect in the process. hopefully the combat is as intense as they claim though so I am forced into using stealth in a couple of sections, otherwise I'll only use it a couple of times.

Hey Arkane, perhaps a section where if you dont get spotted you can sneak into the armory or something like that, but if you get spotted they seal the doors and you have to use like 3 explosives to breach 3 doors to get in or something?

But yeah, I look forward to the deep? gameplay the most. But everything else is just as important, (nearly) so i look forward to the whole game

LOL?

They're an interesting aspect of the game. Rats are a node around which the whole game seems to form. They're part of the story (carriers of the plague); part of the gameworld (you can encounter them); and part of the gameplay (you can use them). This kind of design is what gets me really excited about the game.
They're not the only "node", but they are the one I'm most interested in. 'Cause, you know, they're freaky. :P

Dark Messiah and Sherlock Holmes inspire me now: I hope you will be able to hold your power attack readied like in Dark Messiah. Sounds cheesy, but perhaps you remember that by first lifting Sareth's sword arm you could then decide the angle and direction of his swipe by holding one of the WASD keys. If Dishonored was to include an even better system like that for melee combat, it'd be perfect. If the npc modeling is detailed enough- can you imgaine the possibilities for micro aiming*?!
I'd suggest that the Adrenaline bar returns from Dark Messiah too btw. With it some of the old Fatality classics or perhaps a new one: Reflex boost, which will slow time- modified by difficulty level- with 5-20% making micro aiming abit easier for a few seconds.

*With micro aim I'd refer to either VATS from Fallout 3, or the cool brawl scenes from Sherlock Holmes. My best fps moment ever was when I shot the gun out of a thugs hand in Soldier of Fortune. Then I spared him. AWSM! x)

Guess what? You've got your wish. :D I've read that Dishonored's combat mechanics are very similar to Dark Messiah. You've got an adrenaline bar, too.

I totally hope for that feature. One of those screenshots over at Dishonored.com suggest those rats navigate by logical AI btw. Neither of us needs to worry I bet ;)

Looks like a fun game. I hope the animation side of things is improved for Dishonored, though. (No offense, devs!) Melee combat, specifically.

Hahah, awesome reply.

Yeah, seeing as they stick to the dark, those of us opting for a more stealthy approach are going to have a hell of a time.

See above. And depending on how violent you are -- and it sounds like you're going to be violent -- they could cause a lot of trouble. If you cause enough chaos, those things are going to pile into the area like... like... cops in a donut shop.

Yeah stomping might help, but I hope there will be RIVERS of rats here- to the point were the devs no longer use empty fasades and fences to wall in the map, but RAT rivers! You stray too far off the gameworld, the ground will start to shake and thick clouds of claws and squeaks will surround Corvo at an instant. Oooh Dishonored will make you fear darkness- and love it :D

outstanding man. I love Mirrors Edge. FEAR too, speaking of mobility. Sareth is badass though. I hope Corvo will span across all three.

I have a new #1. Well, okay, a concurrent #1. It's between rats and the http://dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Fugue_Feast. It's a really cool piece of lore. I hope they do something with it. Remember in Hitman, a mission involved... I think it was Mardi Gras? I hope Arkane Studios can pull off something like that (but more) with Dishonored.

I'm really just loving the style of the game so far, the art style is amazing and the lighting looks great too; seems like it really enhances the look and feel of the game. The chaos system and abilities sound pretty interesting as well. Really can't wait for more gameplay footage; I think this is my most anticipated game this year.

STEALTH 100%

such an under-appreciated and unrepresented genre
This and cool abilites to use for stealth.
Definitely the Thief part.
I'm looking forward to the prosttutes. I saw some in a screenshot. I expect great things from this game.
A stealthy character and story. I haven't found awesome stealthy characters yet so I hope this is the one .
First person stealth game in an original setting with choices/nonlinearity stuff.
First person stealth. The fact that it is a 1st person stealth game is what caught my attention at the first place. Everything else is second place. The original Thief games are the best games that I've ever played.

I am also a great fan of realism games (tactical simulation), such as SWAT3, original Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon and the mod Infiltration. One of the reasons why I like stealth games is because they are naturally more slower paced and realistic (more realistic movement, leaning, better AI, etc).
I wonder who's gonna be the first public all stealth run?

Quotes to show how much I support this---- STEALTH PLEASE!! :ninja:  and also the prosttute bit!

I'm definately going to stealth the whole game. So please please please get the lighting and shadow correct! Always had trouble trying to adjust the gamma till it feels "right" or realistic.

I'm really going to enjoy stopping time, possessing an enemy, and leave him standing in a toilet.

This raises a good question - is the npc going to just stand around in the toilet like normal dumb npc? or is he going to feel nauseuos and throw up - and into the toilet bowl! - from the effects of you leaving the npc's body? this said, the second most anticipated part will definately be the complexity of the AI. I'd like to see life-like AIs in the game. And that they don't just simply chirp "but then i took an arrow to the knee" whenever you come close.

Bioshock infinate is tackling this issue and are going to run scripted events only when the game manager "feels" that is the appropriate timing to do so.

Also small memorable details - for example bioshock's dispensary where theres a ridiculous music going every single time you try to either dispense, upgrade with eve etc. I don't mean copy this exactly but something like this in the game that is serious, laughable and memorable at the same time to give it a dishonored signature.

Also please please please do tell me if its going to be a puzzle sequence. I was a little confused in ARX sometimes whether it was a puzzle i was going to solve or not. For example that akbaa cult temple beneath the pub where you had to solve a puzzle consisting golems and doors. I didnt know that it was either a game bug or it was part of the puzzle, and left me frustrated loading and restarting the game thinking that i have missed something important. In anycase please there will be a warning or somekind....

1 haunted mission would be good too! eg haunted cathedral, shalebridge cradle etc!!!! maybe in this map, suddenly you couldnt use any of your powers except the "create light" power!!!!

as for the prosttute, if there was any "getting it on" or taking clothes off just please do it, if there wasnt please just cut it out. i dont want to waste time thinking there will be a nudity scene and half and hour later it was just a tease or a silly lap dance. after all its not like we havent seen briast before, and in the end if there was a mod, i'd just add the nudity mod on anyway. cut to the chase, either have it or don't. Violence is allowed and nudity isnt? what is this? the 90s?

also I'd hate it to be what i read on duke nukem where you have a mission to get the prosti a popcorn or food. Completely stupid.

Stealth! Stealth! Stealth! Like everyone has been saying. Like I mentioned in the other thread, in that video with the devs, they talked about the 'lean' feature as an aspect of Stealth. Stealth is a lot more than that. (I although I did enjoy the ability to lean and run at the same time in Thief...made me file like I was dancing... ).

What I'm more excited about is that the one guy who designed city 17 for half life 2 is also designing the city and the vehicles.it's about time someone continues half life atmosphere. god knows what valve is doing.

Lots of great stuff I'm really looking forward to - the gorgeous setting and art direction, the non-linear gameplay and choices (an assassination game you can complete without killing anyone?), the stealth mechanics, etc.

Out of all the gameplay features, perhaps the possession power seems to be one of the most exciting.

Stealth ?!, naaah, already said too many times, but hey it is true, Stealth is a rare genre these days, and IMO the best genre ever, I hope it remain as hardcoe as possible.

But from the recent trailer, I am very interested in the story and the main protagonist, he looks really badass in the Mask, I hope to see him TPV or something, and the stealth powers may be great, I can't wait till E3.

The stealth and the first person melee combat, which I hope is a more polished/improved version of Dark Messiah's melee,

(in which case it would make people wonder why the hell Skyrim didn't have such combat :P )
