Not much of a movie guy, but here's ten of my all-time favorites.

Lake Mungo
Probably the greatest "found footage" movie I've ever seen.

Paranormal Activity
Another great "found footage" entry, but I quite dislike the sequels.

The Orphanage
Extremely tragic ghost story. Very memorable.

Spirited Away
My single favorite movie of all time. In my opinion, it gets no better than this.

Neverending Story
A true classic, and a great memory from my childhood.

Tarzan
My #1 Disney film, by far. Every single aspect is brimming with charm.

John Carpenter's The Thing
Gore and suspense doesn't get much better than this.

127 Hours
Simply amazing. I've yet to encounter a more effective survival film. The fact that it's true is even more incredible.

Touching The Void
The same concept as 127 Hours (as well as true), only the exact opposite in scope.

Into The Wild
An extremely good (and again, true) character study. Very, very slow movie, though.

It's extremely difficult to narrow it down to ten, so if this thread ever pops up again, don't be surprised when my list is completely different.

9. V For Vendetta
I tried to watch that a while back. Most of the changes they made irritated me too much . Evey, for example, was completely different.

Whatever floats your boat. If you watch it over and over again, than you would definitely recommend others watching it wouldn't you? :P

1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
5. Forrest Gump

I've only seen Forrest Gump once, and it was a movie I couldn't beleive I'd never seen before. I was transfixed. If I'd seen it more, then that would have made my list.
My friend wants me to watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I've got a list of "films to watch" as well as my favourites.

10. The Island(this is my favorite of all time)

This is one of my favourites as well, but it's not quite made my ten that I think other people should watch

There's story in those movies? I though they were collections of CGI rendered fight scenes...

4. Last Samurai

I adored that movie. One of Cruise's best performances, IMO, and he looked strikingly good in that suit of armor. A few shots had me seriously questioning my sixuality. Also, the musical score to that movie was so good that I still occasionally listen to it.

Me too, it's amazing soundtrack, Cruise is the best actor for that movie.I love the quote about finding the most perfect cherry blossom flower, ...they are all perfect, I cry every time I see Katsumoto dying.

I think the guy who played Katsumoto did an outstanding job.

Well. just because I like them the best, doesn't mean I think they particular well made -the lords of flatbush is pretty raw, and Buckaroo Banzai is just plain silly:P

There's story in those movies? I though they were collections of CGI rendered fight scenes...
If you only watched the movies, that could be your reaction to them.. The full story was spread out over the movies, the animations, graphic novels and a game.

With every next media you opened up more of the story.

great story btw :goodjob:

I can only choose 10?

1. Gran Torino - This movie is just amazing.
2. The Dark Knight - Simply fantastic, might want to watch Batman Begins too.
3. The Lord of the Rings trilogy - I got nothing that hasn't already been said about this one.
4. The Sawshank Redemption - It's just great.
5. V for Vendetta - This one simply never gets boring, I've seen it countless times.
6. Alien and it's sequels - well mainly Alien and Aliens, Alien 3 is ok, resurrection is not even worth watching though.
7. Star Wars - The original trilogy, the prequels are ok I guess, but not as good. If you can get your hands on an older version that George Lucas haven't [censored] with at least.
8. Jason Bourne - this is probably one of the best series of action films ever made.
9. Any old Disney movie - I think my favourite is Hercules, but there are simply so many great ones that I can't decide.
10. My name is Khan - This movie isn't very known, but it tells an absolutely amazing story and is worth a watch.

I could probably give you tons of other movies that are on par with these (Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon comes to mind), but these are the ones that are currently on my top ten. This tend to change with my mood so the list might not be the same for me tomorrow.
