300 hours of content? Yeah right...

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:12 am

I've actually wasted a lot of time. The past ten hours or so, I've been collecting drugs for my "party chest" and putting corpses in my basemant in Riften. Most of the quests are "go here, kill this, come back". Since I'm playing on novice, as I've said, that meant I could just run through most dungeons killing everything in my path. That's basically what I did. If I played on a harder difficulty, I probably wouldn't be anywhere near finished because each dungeon would take well over a half-hour. All I'm trying to say that, in the right circumstances, it is entirely possible to do everything in the game in under 100 hours. I don't even want to debate this, but four people called "bs" and everybody is trying to take cheap shots at me, saying I played the game "wrong". There is no "wrong" way to play the game.

This is true in main. There is no "wrong" way to play any CRPG (not even the MMO sort, really - I play WoW my way, not Blizzard's or other players' ways.... works for me....)

As long as you have fun with it, where's the beef?

Sheesh man: you're coming across as pretty needy. Who cares if people believe you or not?

As I've said several times: you are absolutely within your rights to play the game as however you see fit. But once you post your opinions on gameplay within an open forum, I too am within my rights to make comment upon it, or even disbelieve should I so choose.
As I stated before, I see our *style* as pretty different: you appear to have the desire to get through everything as fast as possible. Me, I like to experience the game, the world that's created within it - get a lil' immersed/invested. Different horses...

I'm fine if you think I'm playing the game too fast. I'm find if you think I should slow down. But when you use the word "disbelieve", and you call me a liar, I take it personally. I know what I accomplished in the game. You can't take that away from me.

Playing a game on a tourist mode that basically nullifies the threat and point of combat when a large part of the game's experience is the combat and the varying ways one can approach it, and then complaining about how the game doesn't have 300 hours of content? Not actually finishing everything when he says he's gone through everything? And pretty much taking the word "content" to only refer to locations and questlines?

Ha ha, okay, then.

Did you even read my posts? I never once complained. I'm not complaining. Skyrim has lasted me far longer than any other game that I own and I love it. I'm simply saying that it is, in fact, possible to complete everything in the game without reaching the 300 hour mark. I didn't like how people were calling "bs" on me and other players who happen to "rush" through the game, using your term. I don't think I rushed. Rushing is subjective. But what I did is entirely possible.

I didn't say anything about rushing through the game. I pointed out that you yourself said you played on Novice, which removes pretty much all difficulty. The experience of stalking through a dungeon, systematically eliminating threats one by one, knowing that discovery could mean death, or even engaging them outright armed and armored that at least it's a few blows before you have to reload; those are experiences very much different from that of never having to worry or fear of much threat, and can freely charge headlong through most locations with ease.

And on top of that, you went on about how you've done all there is to bother with doing, yet you point out all the same that you actually haven't done so. There are more than just two ways to play Skyrim, and you've hardly even started. Try joining the Thieves Guild. Try a different race, try a different style, a different story.

Imagination. You have it, yes? Use it.

I already did the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild on my first character. And I don't play games for combat. If I did, I'd probably enjoy brawlers and first person shooters. I don't. I don't need to go through the game on master difficulty just to "do everything". That's not the content I'm talking about.

It's still part of the package.

Just because you don't eat the green beans and the sweet potatoes of the turkey dinner you ordered for Thanksgiving doesn't change the fact that it was still part of the total package.

And the point still stands that there are a myriad of ways to play Skyrim, based on whatever kind of character you feel like creating and building.

Strange the levels people have, the content they done and time played.

Currently running a Khajit vilain, level 33 82 hours played just started Dark Brotherhood, last save is first quest for them as i exit there hideout. Completed only thieves guild and a bunch of miscelanous quests. And like only 3-4 stages on main quest, and the Imperials and those other guys can fight there war themselves. If i see there camps i wipe em out.
I was chopping up guards allover the place trying to get in to brotherhood, untill i finnaly started chopping in the right place :D
Oh and he sneaks every single dungeon for that spiffy, <> sound on sneak attacks, so its not like i clear em fast rampaging trough them, if the sneak attack fails or i think i can do it better i reload and try again lol.
Only fasttravel if i have to clear inventory, dont wanna stumble on more loot i have to leave behind because im overflowing with it :D
Only trained 3 times. To get enchanting up, damn slow and i miss sweet enchants, got tons of grand souls and a few grand blacks but heck not gonna waste em untill im at 100 enchant. Even had to go prostrate before some pool to get acces to a master enchant trainer, but once enchant is 100 i gonna go plunge a dagger in those lowlifes backs. making me prostrate bah. REVENGE

My question is how do you guys get so many hours so many things done and so low level :P

Hold on a sec there. For someone who keeps either saying "read my posts" or inferring that they haven't been read, you're a bit light on doing so yourself: I don't think anyone here has called you a liar.
Yes, I said I disbelieve that you've completed all the content in 80 hrs - but that doesn't necessarily equate to calling you a liar. I think you're mistaken, and I think you have a vastly different definition of "content" to the majority here. And once more: your right entirely to play the game as you see fit.

No no, I love how how huge this game is, that was the whole point of the post. I guess it's hard to get my meaning through when it's just text O_o

130 hours in, completely done. Every quest, level 54, bored as hell, cant wait for DLC though. I've stopped playing until DLC.

That is because TES was not made to jump from quest to quest. There is a reason it is an open world sandbox for immersion. There is probably alot you missed. I am just over the 100 hour mark on this character and haven't even touched the main quest. Just finished the companions and barely just joined the TG and DB. But to each his or her own, everyone has their own playstyle. BTW you did every side and misc quest also? or just the main quest and faction/guilds?

I was pretty sure that you meant it was going to take a LOT longer than 300 hours to do everything you want to do in game, when I first read your post. So I was pretty startled when others took it the opposite. *shrug* Text only is a difficult medium....

I agree with the OP completely.

This game has way more than 300 hours of gameplay...

I'm on my 6th (or so...) character, logged well more than 300 hours between all of them, took different paths and explored different Holds with each of them and I do have to say that I'm very, very positive that I still haven't seen everything that this game has to offer.

Well done Bethesda! You only come across a game this packed with goodies once in a great while, and Skyrim may just keep me busy enough that I'll still be playing it even once the next TES (and next Xbox) is ready to drop.

Love you Bethesda! Love this game!

Im like 90 hours in. Just did the thalmor embasy in Main quest, havnt picked a side in civil war, just discovered dark brotherhood, theives guild is almost done and mage college is done. I could definatly stretch it to over three hundred hours. But even with DLC I doubt ill ever see that many hours. Still got other games to play lol.

128 hours, L33. I've just joined the TG, finished the Companions quest-line and loads of radiant/minor quests. Heaps of exploration - both in the literal sense and in the sense of what I can and can't do. Really investing my time in it (what time I have!!), but sometimes I fast-travel, sometimes I don't.
Enjoying the hell outta it!

What system do you play..... sorry, did play Skryim on ?

I'm still playing. I haven't finished the main quest and civil war quest yet.

Now why don't you guess what system I play on, and then tell me why it is relevant to what I was saying?

Might have been better if the jobs were fleshed out, more in-depth so you can actually live in your chosen profession. The current jobs feel like mini games to me.

As do I, I'm guessing he's not including all the Miscellaneous ones as that's at least another 130 if you don't rush them.

25 hours in. Finished Thieves Guild but only because I've done it before on my very first character and know how to finish each quest efficiently. Just started the part where I need to infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy.
