300 hours of content? Yeah right...

Exactly..... i agree. Its no wonder some are bored. Rinse and repeat one after the other, fast travel here and then back again, back and forth.

These type of games are not a sprint... its a marathon. But then these sprinters have ' Lives to live ' as someone mentioned previously....hahahahaha That comment alone completes the entire picture.

Wow, you know walking around looking at scenery gets boring too. Catching all the butterflies, etc, etc, seeing random encounters for the umpteenth time, etc, etc, all gets boring as well. Good for you if you have low diminishing returns on that, but stop assuming everyone else does too and they are just playing wrong.

I know I'll stop playing before I've done everything. But I also know that "everything" is going to include a huge amount of boring and repetitive crap that makes it not worth it to me.

But it is. I posted my stats earlier in the thread. Unless there are way more locations than 344, I've been just about everywhere, and I've cleared over half of them. A lot of the locations simply can't be cleared. Now, I do play on novice and I recognize that makes a big difference, but I play these games to experience the world - not spending hours fighting a dragon hoping to win. I've also played with another character before, so this isn't my first rodeo. I knew pretty much where every quest was located and what was in every dungeon, so that drastically reduced my hours as well.

I'm not complaining. Skyrim lasted me far longer than any game. I beat Dragon Age II, doing everything, in about 30 hours. I got 100 hours out of my first Skyrim character and 80 out of my second. That's damn good. However, it's entirely possible to do everything in the game and fall well short of the 300 hour mark. I don't like people calling "bs" on people who say as much because it's entirely possible.

I doubt he has ADHD. You don't have any idea how easily we get bored. More like OCD for him.

ADHD? Eh, we'll quit when we feel we lose interest, quite possibly short of personal goals we set for ourselves. A LACK of follow-through is a typical sign of ADHD.

Still, after 6 characters and a total of 1000+ hrs, I think I have gotten way more than my $60 worth.

Dang. The game has only been out for 1,668 hours.

That's the type of player I am. I love doing that. Heck, last night I go to the top of a mountain and just looked out at the sun rising over some ice bergs.

A Bethesda game is a dream come true for me.

+1 for that!

You should keep reading. I said I found 344 locations and cleared over half of them. You can't clear every location. A decent amount of them are glitched and can't be cleared, and a decent amount more require me to join the dark brotherhood or thieves guild - the former I destroyed and the latter isn't viable with this character, and some locations - like towns and cities - can't be cleared at all. Why are you so obsessed with trying to prove me wrong?

I have played 406 h (due to Steam). I have finish MQ, I have finished about 3/4 towns quests (radiant kill quests I still do). I have few deadra shrine quests to do. I'm member of Bards college, Mages college, Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood - but not finish any of these. I have not started the Civil war, but this time I may choose Stormcloacks. I have found almost all caves and other landmarks, but entered only few (only quest related) since I do not want to enter a cave where a quest item can be found. I have about active 15 sidequests and 15 misc quests + radiant quests to do. I have 5 skills at 100 - alchemy, smithing, enchant, speech and conjuration. Some are very close to 90. I can play as Werewolf. I never did play as Vampire. Shall try that next time.

When the new patch is released, I will re-start the game.

Cheers,

No obsessing at all, I really don't care - tho' you seem pretty adamant about being believed. I simply do not care: you are more than entitled to play the game how you see fit, and I'm entitled to disbelieve your claims that you have completed all content in 80 hrs.

The key word is 'content'. You may have finished the game in your opinion - as far as seeing through the main storylines... but I'll stick with my belief that you've missed a substantial amount. I think it just comes down to how we view "completing the game" - a difference in style, that's all.

I'm with you. I will not be done in 300 hours. I'm at 200 hours, with two characters, and have finished precisely two major questlines (Mage's college and Companions).

Anyone who thinks they're finished at less than 150 hours is either missing a lot of content, or, to indulge in cliche, "doing it wrong."

Do I have to post my stats?

Time: 83:33:26
Locations Discovered: 344
Dungeons Cleared: 224
Days Passed: 324
Hours Slept: 2159
Hours Waiting: 0

Quests Completed: 102
Misc Objectives Completed: 285
Main Quests Completed: 18
Side Quests Completed: 29
The Companions Quests Completed: 8
College Of Winterhold Quests Completed: 18
Thieves' Guild Quests Completed: 0
The Dark Brotherhood Quests Completed: 3
Civil War Quests Completed: 9
Daedric Quests Completed: 15
Questlines Completed: 3

I destroyed the dark brotherhood and opted not to join the Thieves Guild with this character, but as I've said, had I joined both of them it would have only gotten me another 20 hours, if even that, which is still far shy of the 300 hour mark. I've finished every other faction and have befriended just about every person in Skyrim, since I did their quests.

People Killed: 1426
Animals Killed: 636
Creatures Killed: 361
Undead Killed: 725
Daedra Killed: 33
Automatons Killed: 109

Do I need to go on?

you must be drinking lots of coffee, but if you finished the entire game in 120hrs, i don't think dlc is gonna do much for you, it will prob take you 15 minutes to complete.

There aren't that many random encounters. Believe what you want to believe, but after you see nobles on horses for the umpteenth time, or cows being sacrificed three times in a row, it loses its luster.
there's not a lot of random encounters? lol half the game is random stuff.

I think you're confused. I'm not talking about the radiant quest system, although that doesn't add a whole lot of variety. I mean, it doesn't matter to me if I have to go to Cave A to retrieve an item or Cave B. I would have been to both and would just fast travel there, get the item, and return back. That's how most people play the game. What I am talking about is the random encounters. I keep encountering the same ones over and over, which shouldn't be happening if there are as many as people claim.

all told when I add my different characters together I'm over 500 hours... a couple of them were only maybe 100 hours from start to finish and some of them are much more than that and still leveling and playing and exploring.

I take my hat off to you Mr. Huntsman, those stats are impressive, from which ever way anyone wants to look at them. All that done and you still managed to get in 8 hours sleep a day, but never had to wait for anything, even a shop to open. in the early stages. Can I ask a couple of questions?

You only played for 83 and a bit hours and completed 102 quests, that's about 1.2 quests per game-time hour. How did you do that? I mean there is "dead" time taken up in travelling to the quest giver and travelling back to give the result quite part from getting to the location, which even using fast travel to the nearest known location, takes time. How did you be so efficient?

The game will have unlimited playing hours once Real-Time Settlers - New Wave is ported to Skyrim.

I totally agree, there are a TON of hours in this game fer sure.

If one has the proper strengths and defenses, I suppose one could race through everything and get things done fairly quickly.

The average player doing average exploration and character build-up without guide or internet help on quests... yeah, that could take a really.long.time.

I've actually wasted a lot of time. The past ten hours or so, I've been collecting drugs for my "party chest" and putting corpses in my basemant in Riften. Most of the quests are "go here, kill this, come back". Since I'm playing on novice, as I've said, that meant I could just run through most dungeons killing everything in my path. That's basically what I did. If I played on a harder difficulty, I probably wouldn't be anywhere near finished because each dungeon would take well over a half-hour. All I'm trying to say that, in the right circumstances, it is entirely possible to do everything in the game in under 100 hours. I don't even want to debate this, but four people called "bs" and everybody is trying to take cheap shots at me, saying I played the game "wrong". There is no "wrong" way to play the game.

I guess I can see where you're coming from, even if I don't play that way myself. I shouldn't have asked the question and then flamed you for answering, sorry about that.
