Achievement disappointment?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:30 am

I expected that like the ones that required completing 50 speech challenges or unlocking 50 locks, that you actually have to get the 10K ones with a single character. It actually shouldn't be that hard for some of them... 10 points of damage per shot, only requires 1000 shots fired into enemies.... By the end of a single playthrough, unless you're avoiding combat, I'd think this will have been easily passed.

I'm still working on Data Miner in Fallout 3 to be honest, Although the reason for that is probably because of how god awful Hacking was in FO3. :tops:

Really?
I thought that the hacking minigame was so awful that I just used the glitch.

can′t care less, achievement and bragging about them is on the level of a d**k measurement competition.

I agree.

Achievements are for casual gamers. I couldn't care less about them.

ahem. Think you got it wrong there.

Achievements are for the LOLhardcoe gamers who think that the number actually means something. We casuals could give a [censored] less about it, and see it as a challenge to be completed when bored out of our minds.

Achievements?... We don't need no stinking achievements. Seriously achievements are for the kiddies. I remember when the only achievement was beating the game or unlocking some Easter egg.

or finally beating that one really hard boss, or getting the best weapon in the game. Seriously now. On a similiar topic, what ever happened to the free trade of save games? you can look on sites like Gamefaqs and see downloadable save games for anything thats not a 360 or PS3.

Achievement list is very similiar to Fallout 3. Which isn't too bad of a thing.

They are okay. Not the best, not the worst. Will still enjoy working towards getting them, though.

My anger stems now, as it seems to point more to Mr. House being a computer. :flame: :flame: :flame:

Germophobe. (Speculation)
Probably talks through the computer so he doesn't get infected.
After all. He's a pre-war human.
Probably pretty paranoid over the whole radiation issue and what germs that might have brought into the world.

What makes me pissed is the amount of quest achievements.
If the number of quest achievements is the number of quests then I'm going to kill the world. :brokencomputer:

It's not.
Most likely it's only the far more important quests that gets achievements.
Like main quests.

Thats really what I'm thinking. Since he's supposed to be pre-war he's genes are 'perfect' in terms of being unspliced by radiation. So maybe he's worried the slightest contact with background radiation will cause him to be 'infected' with radiation. Because based on my assumptions, it does seem like despite advanced uses of Nuclear power, people before the war seemed utterly horrifeid of coming into contact with becoming irradiated.

I could have sworn Fallout wasn't the type of series one plays for achievements. I disabled GFWL on FO3 and never missed it.

Is any game meant to be played for it's achievements?
They are only a bonus for us who like achievement hunting.

Achievements fall into three catagories:

1. Getting one for doing what I was going to do anyway, as in waypoints of the Main Quest

2. Finding an obscure collection of whatever (collector quests) or places.

3. Killing or not killing certain things or some other stat measurement.

The first and third do nothing for me for gameplay, the second one are just for quests that I do when I am bored with a character and want to pass some time. I have never seen the point of these things.

In fact, I am proud to say that my Live Gamer Score is 0. Let's hope I can keep the Steam one the same way.

I'm not really a big fan of achievements the way they are.

I mean whats the point of giving someone an achievement for completing a quest?
or shooting 10,000 rounds of ammo?

I like achievements that ARE actually ACHIEVEMENTS!

The achievements I remember from other games:
Demon hunter from metro 2033. Kill 2 demons. It's great because it was hard to do.
Did you see that from MW2. where you shoot an explosive through a wall that kills someone.

Achievements should open your eyes to something cool in a game that you didn't think was possible.

My 2 cents.

Achievements? I could care less!

*twitch*

I don't care for achievements. Some are fun as an extra challenge to make you do things you normally wouldn't (carrying the gnome across the whole of Half Life Episode 2) or to make something extra challenging (finishing a L4D campaign without getting incapacitated) but things like 'You made it out of the tutorial dungeon!', 'You cast your 100th spell!' or 'You completed the main quest!' I don't need.

So yeah, most of the times, I couldn't care less.

All New Vegas PC releases are on Steam, the retail copies need to be activated on Steam as well.

sure thing all that steam stuff is there, but that means the retail version doesn't come with the Real acheivements that tie in with my Live account? Like Fallout 3 did?

I never really got the point of achievements...

It's basically just a list saying you've spend to much time playing the game doing mostly useless things. Sure, it is fun when you get an achievement for doing X or killing X amount of Y, but really, what's the point?

I enjoy the game, for the game itself not for the achievements.

I find the achievements/trophies thing pointless.
I just want play my game the way I want to play it, which means I miss most if not all of the achievements and I always miss the online ones since I refuse to pay $50 to be able to play online.

So the achievement list has been out for a while now and I know many of you will insult me for this or you could care less about achievements but I thought the achievements for NV was a huge let down, especially compared to Fallout 3. So I can say I'm a big achievement [censored], I love it and I'm proud of it. It gives me something to boast about to friends, increases the time I play a game and is just really fun. So after getting all 72 achievements in Fallout 3 I was fairly pleased and enjoyed them a lot. But now with the NV list I feel there was barely any creativity gone into these achievements. There are plenty of repetitive and just plain achievements. I really wished they put a little more effort into them. The only one off the top of my head that I'm really looking forward to would be getting kicked out of all the strip clubs. But never the less I love Fallout and will love NV. Good achievements or not I'm confident it will be a great game and hopefully will win game of the year. So what are your guys's opinions?

Personally I pay no attention to them, on PS3 they are Trophies, still, I personally just don't care either way they don't enhance MY game experience but everyone is different that's just my two cents on the topic that's all that is. The end.
