Achievement disappointment?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:32 pm

So the achievement list has been out for a while now and I know many of you will insult me for this or you could care less about achievements but I thought the achievements for NV was a huge let down, especially compared to Fallout 3. So I can say I'm a big achievement [censored], I love it and I'm proud of it. It gives me something to boast about to friends, increases the time I play a game and is just really fun. So after getting all 72 achievements in Fallout 3 I was fairly pleased and enjoyed them a lot. But now with the NV list I feel there was barely any creativity gone into these achievements. There are plenty of repetitive and just plain achievements. I really wished they put a little more effort into them. The only one off the top of my head that I'm really looking forward to would be getting kicked out of all the strip clubs. But never the less I love Fallout and will love NV. Good achievements or not I'm confident it will be a great game and hopefully will win game of the year. So what are your guys's opinions?

I loved the achievements (trophies for me) in fallout 3 because the artwork was so colorful, and they were really easy, these aren't as easy, but I will probably have them all by my third playthrough. Oh and creativity wise, fallout 3 wasn't that creative, I got most of the trophies by completing quests.

i think its a great list. other than the quest achievements, the ones not having to do with quests are varied enough and interesting to make me try to attain them, and dont seem like theyd be that difficult (unlike the Fallout 3 challenge getting 50 speech checks, which i stopped after awhile cuz it got to be too annoying)

can′t care less, achievement and bragging about them is on the level of a d**k measurement competition.

Surely the 'Get to a certain level with certain karma' in Fallout 3 were repetitive as well then? For all the levels that the trophies/achievements counted for, there were two more for the other respective karma types. That in it's self seems WAY more repetitive than what the ones in New Vegas will be, atleast those ones will have you doing different activities like killing enemies and picking up items, rather than just grinding and making sure you at a specific karma level, and quite a few times at that.

Too easy, no challenge, not achievements IMO.
I'm disappointed in them.
Hope that at least the DLC's will have some creative and challenging achievements.

I'd like to say there are things I care even less about than these "achievements" that seem to be all the rage these days...but I'd be lying something fierce.

How do you know how much damage you do per gun?

Erm, well, i guess you just use Guns until you get the achievement. Done.
Then on the next playthrough you use another combat skill.

After 5 playthrougs you will have all the damage dealing ones.
Or you could always combat spec.
So that once you get the achievement for Guns you start using EW only until you get the next, then start using Unarmed until you get the next and continue on and grind and explore.
Cake-walk achievements.
