3-D TV's are a passing fad. It's been tried a half dozen times since the 1950's.

i am not really a 3d fan. yeah it can be cool with special 3d effects like if someone is throwing things it you.... but seeing 2 ppl phone with each other and the 3d is used to higlight one of them... useless.

3D is overly pointless in every case I have seen it applied in. I believe this would be no better.

Remember telling in interview: "Honestly, I couldn't care less - having to wear those glasses! I'm not a 3D fan. It ruins the image for me"?
I really hope you'd try Skyrim in 3D like I did. With all the great mods that make it look ultra realistic, extreme graphic settings, perfect depth of Nvidia 3D Vision Technology and amazing HMZ-T1. Because vanilla Skyrim is just a beautiful game. Skyrim the way I saw it - portal to another world that looks as real as the one we used to.
Played about 30 hours of Skyrim in 3D and had more "holy [censored]" moments then in 20 years of my gaming experience.

Your lucky you can play in 3D I can't because xbox wont allow mods :( but anyways if your not playing on 3D you are missing out, btw there is a sony LED 3Dtv that works amazing and is prefect for a gamming room that is only 299. 3D is awesome.

For those people who play/watch 3d games/movies, do you get eye strain? My sister was complaining about that the other day when she watched the Titanic in 3D. I remember my eyes were tired and I was slightly dizzy when way back in the 80's when I played Maze Hunter with the Sega 3D glasses.

It strains some people's eyes, it's all just luck. I personally don't but then again I've never played anything 3d for over 8 hours. I probably would then.

Yes, and also the phones from 2012 are the same as the phones in the '50s. Solid logic.

3-D makes my eyes hurt, and gives me a headache. I've watched movies in 3-D before and I walk out of the theater with a headache, and it's not like I have bad vision and I'm 19 years old so I'm not old or anything lol. I can barely watch movies in 3-D I'd never want to play a game in 3-D. While having an option to do so might be cool, I don't see it main stream enough (as a previous poster stated) to spend money on making it work for a minority of players, they could put that money to other areas of the game. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know the costs of making a game 3-D friendly)

Edit: 2 hours watching Avatar and Thor in 3-D was pretty fun but it wasn't that much of a better experience than normal viewing or anything to write home about, I can't imagine wanting to do more than 2 hours of that or my eyes would hurt after a while.

Yeah, I haven't watch a movie in 3D since Avatar just for that reason. After leaving Avatar I had a stress headache for two days, I know it was the movie cause half way through the flick is when the headache started and I have seen some game play on a friends 3D TV but as before a stress headache came over me not long after I started watching. I don't think it's my eye's, I had an eye test not long ago and the results where perfect 20/20 vision so it has to be something with the 3D.

A lot of people's eyes just can't become adjusted to viewing images and stuff that isn't 3-D to be 3-D. Its a distortion after all, and you're sort of fooling your eyes into making it look 3-D when it really isn't. At least, that's my guess, I'm sure alot of the younger kids in the new generation don't mind 3-D because they grow up with it at the movies and what not, so maybe their eyes are used to it?

Yeah, except for the fact that the methods of displaying 3d havent changed. its either colour blended ala the 50's or its dual image flickering. Both methods are "tricking" the brain in to viewing a 3d image and both cause eye strain and or headaches in many people. As I said until the tech gets to the point where the glasses are gone, it wont be mainstream technology no matter how hard its pushed.

If its barely noticeable for you, its either something with your hardware or stereoscopic perception. Ive played about 30 games and watched even more movies on my HMZ-T1. Not everywhere 3D is perfect or even good. But where it works, its just amazing. Lots of iMAX documentaries - you feel like you're there. Games like Trine 2, Batman: AC, Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm, Witcher 2, Metro 2033... I basically cant play them now without 3D, its just brings another level of immersion. Although Skyrim is definetly my favourite 3D content atm. It blows my mind every time I play. I just wish the tech was cheaper so more people could experience this

As for the statement that its dead in the water in 2 years... i honestly think it is the future of gaming and in 10 years EVERYTHING, including games and movies with be played/watched in 3D only. More and more game devs support tech, so we'll see

If they lower the prices on 3d tvs and get rid of the gimmicky glasses then yeah I could possibly see it. But as of now I just cant see millions of people wasting that type of money and that much money on technology that still needs work and still isnt perfect.

For me, Im not even close to being sold on 3d. I wear glasses, so why would I want to wear glasses on top of glasses? Or even 3d glasses to watch 3d tv in the first place. Id rather watch tv normally before I would have to wear stupid glasses....

Good 3d is not where things flying at you through the screen. Its where you feel like being inside the movie/game. And looking around with glassless frame in your hands

I guess it depends for each person. For me - no strain at all on HMZ-T1, almost none on Asus VG278H with 3D Vision 2 glasses. But i know few people who had problems with it

Yeah, except for the fact that the methods of displaying 3d havent changed. its either colour blended ala the 50's or its dual image flickering.

There is new 3D tech available. HMDs like HMZ-T1 and ST1080 project 3D images on 2 different displays for each eye, which work similar to binoculars. This gets rid of many old 3D tech problems like ghosting and cross-talking and gives the most realistic 3D available. Also there are passive 3D TVs

YOU CALLEN ME OOOLLLLDDD :stare:
I think you nailed it on the head ( in my case anyway ) it seems like I need to focus/concentrate harder when watching a 3D movie/game, kinda like trying to read in very low light, you can do it but the strain of doing it cause a stress headache. Even the old red and blue glasses gave me a headache and the 3D eye puzzles also bring headaches on for me, I like it 2D personally if I want to see a tree, bear, chayote etc...etc.. in 3D then all I gotta do is take a 5 minute walk up the road

The problem with your snarky comment is that 3D tech hasn't changed since the 50's

Exactly.

My comment stands. This is a gimmick that TV manufacturers have been trying to sell consumers for a long time. It never really catches on and eventually goes away. The fact is, the novelty of wearing special glasses in your own living room wears off very quickly.

How many hours do you play the game? I think my record is 9 straight, with breaks for food and bathroom. There is no way I could handle that much 3D- I get headaches after about 85 minutes of a movie. How does your brain not explode from the jerky first person motion?

Personally, I'm not all about 3D. But I recognize well that a day will come when those who declare 3D a fad will look about as smart as people who thought "talkies" were a gimmick.

3D might take off; it might not. I don't know. Too much money for that much uncertainty. I'll stick with the conventional for now.
