I'm already bored with dragon encounters

The area needs to be large enough to accomodate their "bounding box", it does not matter if their physical model appears to be able to fit somewhere, if the invisible box that comprises their body cannot fit.

The middle of a valley with one shack in the area? The hummocks in the smoking land areas? Wide open places.

For extra fun get Spellbreaker and Drangonbane and go head to head with them. An ancient Dragon will reach around the pillars in the College circle where they like to attack and grab you. Just found that out the other day,

I play the game on expert. It's my first non shooter.

Again, it has to do with sometimes area specific coding. Most buildings for example, likely have a "dragon trigger" that tells them they are allowed to land on the building. Otherwise they can't land on the object.

If you're on PC, Deadly Dragons is a blast. You don't have to die 20 times to one for it to be enjoyable, either. I got the Normal mod and play on Adept and they are moderately challenging, but fun. The new armors and spells are pretty cool as well.

I think I'd be happy as long as it was possible to actually kill them all. No dragon respawning. Or they stop attacking by the end of the MQ.

Welcome to the second week of Skyrim for me. I actually ignore them and continue on my way. I actually had to ~disable a few that really got in the way, particularly because I wasn't playing for long and didnt want to spend any of it fighting a dragon.

Deadly Dragons actually makes them a lot of fun, plus there are some different items/armors that you can get from them.

It seems like Bethesda has these ideas that just become annoying after awhile and yet they're needed for the story.

Regular Dragons are great fun. You are Dragonborn. It's your job to kill Dragons.

The whining is pretty funny. Fight the Dragons the game serves up and you will get better and better at it. I welcome them ... with fire and sword, arrows and Atronachs and I kill em'. It's my purpose in life.

I'm a lvl 58 and my biggest problem with the dragon system is I only seem to get ancient dragons which are the toughest. So now when I enter a small town like Riverwood I get nervous, not because I'm afraid, but because I know someone I don't want to die will end up dying. I've killed 30 ancient dragons and only 4 elder dragons. I wish the ancient dragons were rare, then it would feel better, because instead of sighing and thinking "lets get this over with" I think it would be more surprising and scary. If anyone knows of a mod that can delete ancient dragons then tell me. I know it sounds too specific but I really want to just get rid of them for awhile. Also dragons in general do feel a little boring, but I think it's because in the demo Todd was using all this cool stuff and the dragon was picking npc's up and throwing them around, then crash lands in a cool way and takes it out with a killmove. All I get is an ancient dragon that flys around a bit then lands on the ground and flops around after dying. Oh well.

I have gotten 3 kill moves on Ancient Dragons so far. I have started tanking them with my level 48 Dark Elf, hang a necklace on him for the frosty ones, and the head to head combat with them produces a lot of deaths but the odd very satisfying climb on his head and "FINISH HIM" move.

I have Dragonbane at 140 ( stole it from the blades, I ain't gonna kill my buddy ), Spellbreaker at just under 100 and the Nightingale Armor is over at 580 and if I'm careful ... I win. I will almost always have my Hot Girl doing distraction on him as well.

Not so. Ancient Dragons will happily strafe you to death without ever landing. They can be a real, problem until you get a certain shout.

What difficulty are we playing where the Dragons are so easy? Perhaps turning it up would make the easy part go away.

I play on expert, but I have yet to encounter an ancient one. I've only got up to level 35. What level do they start to appear?

You should start to see the odd one soon. Then as you level there are more Ancients and Elders and less of the others. I think it has to do with where you have gotten to in the game as well. After Alduin's quests the Ancients show up quite a bit more often.

I think it would have been better to have static dragon boss fights than randomly spawning them.

That was not what people wanted before the game was released.

Dragons are supposed to be like regular beasts. Not as limited bosses that just wait in dungeons.

Winterhold is the worst place for dragons in my experience. They appear right as I am trying to get a quest and break people's actions and sometimes they don't go back to normal preventing me from advancing in the quest line (College of Winterhold Quest)

Just wait until the Ancient Dragons start showing up. Nothing quite like getting killed in one frost breath before you even have a chance to cast a healing spell.

Sometimes the dragon fights are interesting. If you can wound one badly while its flying it will sometimes crash and churn up the ground behind it.

The dragons could have done with a few different shout effects to make the encounters more varied. Just having them use fire and frost gets a bit boring after a while.

More of them should have been unique named bosses as well, like the dragons guarding dragon walls on the mountains. There is something a bit more satisfying about killing a named enemy than yet another generic one.

When you level up they get more powerful. The Ancient dragons are the strongest I think.

That looks like a really nice mod.. The only reason I'm not downloading it right now is: Is there any way to stop it from changing damage, health, magicka and stamina of enemies? I always make characters that are very offensive and not very defensive. So increasing the number of enemies that do more damage and take more hits in a fight is less than an ideal mod for me. The other additions themod will bring actually look really good, such as a proper civil war being fought etc.

This is the problem I have with the dragons currently in my mages game. They are either incredibly easy, or difficult due to having so much damn health. Often, from the same type of dragon!
For example, I was walking along the road from Solitude and encountered a blood dragon. At first I was like "Aw, crap!" but then I kind of just Firebolted it to death quite easily. No big deal.
Then, a little bit later on, I found another blood dragon on the way up to Labyrinthian. I tried just spamming Firebolts on it, but they only appeared as little blips on the health bar.
*sigh* Balancing issues. I swear that's one of the biggest problems I'm having with Skyrim at the moment.

Though to be honest, the only reason I fear encountering dragons is that I really don't want to lug those dragon bones back to town. They're so damn heavy!

I've finally finished the main quest, which was terrific. But I couldn't help but wonder why fighting other dragons wasn't like fighting Alduin. I think all dragon encounters should be like that (although they're obviously not going to be as tough), except for his meteror call shout. But if they switched up their breath attacks between fire and frost, and used things like storm call, and disarm, and unrelenting force to know you down (and potentially off of cliffs and stuff) and were reluctant to land, it would make each encounter much more epic and satisfying. And if they were rarer you'd have far fewer souls to spend on your shouts which would make that more satisfying also.

Then they would need a spell to find weapons. I know I had a hard time finding Dawnbreaker in a dungeon when a Draugr Deathlord disarmed me, I cannot imagine being disarmed at the top of some peak.

So you're bored of something after 3 months?

Did you even bother reading his post? He didn't say he was bored with the game. He was bored with dragons in the game.
