And the award to the best voice goes to...

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:38 pm

I've heard a lot of people voice their distaste for Ulfric but my vote goes to him.

"I fight for the men I've held in my arms, dying on foreign soil! I fight for their wives and children, whose names I heard whispered in their last breath...I fight so that all the fighting I've already done hasn't been for nothing! I fight... because I must."

Hermaeus Mara from the quest Discerning the Transmundane. He sounds like Sean Connery.

We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit! The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth! Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? What then? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives? And what does the Empire do? Nothing!

in all seriousness this guy was a FANTASTIC actor. he may have a very useless part but man he pulls it off so well!

Galmar Stone-Fist
Listening to him always gives me flashbacks of Diablo (he was the narrator).

My favorite is Ulfric. Vladimir Kulich FTW!

The Nord female. The general ones for Guards, Gurder, Mjoll...that Russian trill of trill "r"s is very attractive.

Otherwise I am on the other side of the fence from the OP. I thought Molag Bal is just over acted. "Bring me his sooouullllah!" It's just too much. Every time I play through that part, I walk around for two days going "sooouuulllaah!"

I know I probably destroyed the spelling of names in this post.

I would have to say Ulfric Stormcloak only because of his line at the beginning of the game, "Legends don't burn down villages." For some reason he sounds so cool when he says that.

1 Sheogorath Why: i do not need to explain why because you already know ;)

2 Molag Bal Why: He genuinely had a terrifying voice and it fit his title of the king of...well i cant say it here but people who played morrowind know his title.

3 Cicero Why: his voice can be so happy that it makes you happy one moment and unbelievably spine chillingly menacing the next and those mannerisms are great he belongs in crucible in the shivering isles not some dark dreary cave tending to a corpse.

4 Ulfric Why: "Legends dont burn down villages" the way that line was said and his speech with galmar in his palace sold me on his voice

5 Calcelmo Why: sure his voice is shared by tolfdir and a few other people but i feel the voice suits him the best perhaps its because i discovered him before those other people and the fact he studies the dwemer

I agree with Molag Bal, and Ulfric because they sound awesome, but Sheogorath and Calcelmo?? And did you get that part about "Legends don't burn down villages." from what I just said.

Currently, here are some of my favorite voice roles in Skyrim:

I. Esbern
II. General Tullius
III. Ulfric Stormcloak
IV. The Greybeards (the one that could speak normally at least)
V. The Eastern European sounding female Nords.

Personally, I found Cicero to be annoying, but I guess that type of voice suited the character.

The woman who does the voices for Igrod the Younger and Sylgja. I could listen to that all day, the most pleasant voice I ever heard, like having warm herbal tea poured into your ears. It also makes me a bit sad for some reason.
Clavicus Vile and his cockney accent are also superb, while Hermius Mora's voice suits him well (my favorite Prince!). As for unnamed characters the best voices are Argonians and Khajiit of course.

sheogoraths voice fits perfectly or maybe thats just my love of his voice when i first met him in the shivering isles talking, and calcelmo sounds like a kind hearted old researcher but in spite of that deffinitly knows what he is talking about when it comes to the dwemer. and no i didnt get that from your post not to sound sarcastic or mean but people can share the same opinion as someone else up until now i read the title and the first post and decided to voice who my top 5 are as far as voices go.

I understand, and no I don't think that is mean I just thought you did since my post was right above yours, and I had just said that about Ulfric.

I also like the voice that High Elf women have like the one vendor in Windhelm that you talk to about the thieves for the TG special quest. That voice is also the voice of the Thalmor women I am pretty sure.

No love for Belethor? His voice is used a few other places, but the way he delivers his lines is great.

Arngeir, Esbern, Sheogorath, Karliah, Alduin are all very close....but honestly? The best in my opinion:

is the Emperor. Hate all you want, but that guy is the bomb diggity! Makes me remember Carodus Oholin:

"KNIGHTS.......OF THE NINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, Christopher Plummer (Arngeir) and Max von Sydow (Esbern) outclass all the others by far, but then, they must have like 150 years of acting experience together ;)

Otherwise I love Karliahs voice.
