Another GOTY award - PC Gamer

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:23 pm

GoTY awards are useless, because everyone and their mother is allowed to give one.
GOTY awards are great marketing for the company. All that matters is what you think of the game.

Whats the point of saying things like this everytime a GOTY award is announced here?

Do you really have to rain on the parade?

A wee bit of a fan induced white lie in that article about the magic. Magic hasnt been improved from Oblivion, in fact it can easily be argued that its been gutted since Oblivion and no longer as effective as weaponry combat. However, most of the other points noted are similar to my own thoughts.

Sorry, you misspelled "opinion" as "lie". Lemme fix it for you:

This person holds a different opinion about the magic. In MY opinion, magic hasn't been improved from Oblivion, and it can be easily argued that it's been gutted since Oblivion and to ME, is no longer as effective as weaponry combat. However, most of the other points noted are similar to my own thoughts.

See the difference there? It's almost as if...as if people had different experiences and perspectives. Weird right?

An open world.

Who cares if it has an open world, if every other aspect, that makes an RPG an RPG, is either done half-assed or missing.

That's beyond some people's egos.

Personally I don't think it deserves GOTY for the PC and clearly the reviewer made an oversight on the amount of problems with the game and how badly it was ported. There is no doubt it's a great game with plenty of epic design but I'd give the modded version game of the year. :P

I would also say congratulations to Bethesda, and I think it's deserved, since it is a great game (I haven't played every game this year of cause), and personally I have only encountered two serious bugs in 94hours gametime, so I don't see it as being very bugged.

But saying that the game doesn't deserve the GOTY without mentioning another game more deserving of the title seems rather pointless, because the game might not be perfect, but no game is.

I quite enjoy the magic in this game, and agree with them.
