Any other console Gamers feeling left out?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:20 pm

It's not like they can make one patch that fits all systems, they have to play-test it across all platforms and adjust it as needed so it doen't make any other problems. Since the Xbox 360 is so much similar to a PC, it makes it simpler to patch, which is why the PS3 is so slow to update with patched and DLC and such. Don't blame Bethesda, blame Sony.

If you feel left out then buy the PC version and if necessary, up the quality of your computer.

I play on Xbox and I'd like to get some of the cool mods but I just don't want to play on my computer. I sit in front of the damn thing enough. I'd rather venture into Tamriel from the comfort of my couch.

You don't need a PC for email or any other function? To me, having a dumb computer sitting around that will only play games is the waste of money. But I use the PC for other things besides gaming. And it's not all that confusing- you tell your computer guy or Dell customer support that you want a gaming PC, then you keep your drivers up to date- most of them will do this automatically for you.

Nope, I use my phone for email, Internet ect.
If I had a PC I would indeed play the game on it.
But, obviously I don't.
I dont really need a computer, so I can't justify paying the money for something Ill probably only use for the game?
I've had my ps3 for years, so :P

And guys, I know it sounds Like I'm complaining.
But it's not like I can go dungeon delving and raise however much a computer is these days ??

It would just be nice if Beth released more things for console users, all I'm saying :)

If you want mods buy a PC. Why do we go around and around arguing about this? Can't afford one? Too bad! I wish mods would lock these threads the instant they appear.

Hm, well excuse me for posting a general discussion topic in a general discussion thread.

I wish they'd just lock people's opinions the instant they appear.

The issue has been covered in dozens, if not hundreds of threads before this one. There will be no mods on consoles until the console makers, not Bethesda, choose to support them. If you are unhappy with this fact, vote with your dollars and buy a PC. If you cannot afford a PC, re-prioritize your entertainment budget. You could have purchased a PC that would play Skyrim for close to the price of your gaming console. There is really nothing more to say on the matter. Don't complain to Pepsi that you would rather have Coke. Don't complain to Ford that you would rather have a Toyota. Do the research before you purchase a product and then live with your decision.

I havent been on these Forums for very long, so forgive me if I'm not 'up to date'.

When I got involved in TES, I also wasn't aware of all the modding.

Also, as I've said, I'm not complaining. Yes, I may have worded the title wrong, however I meant it only as a thought for discussion - and again, I wasn't aware that this topic had been discussed so much before.

I gave up on PC games years ago for the main reason that I don't want to feed 'the machine' by chasing upgrades every time I buy a new game. I'm not into spending $500 for the best video card every 6 months for a slight upgrade in graphics and 'bragging rights' about having the best system in the cyber world.
 The way you avoid that is by not giving a [censored]. I sure don't. Because consoles are holding back the technology, most games run fine on systems that are a few years old. Software obsoletion for your browser or other software advances more quickly than gaming specs.

This is absolutely true. I built my current computer back in January, 2007. It runs Skyrim flawlessly.

Skyrim Player on 360 here,if only because i dont have the cash lying around to buy a gaming rig capable of running vanilla Skyrim, let alone a modded version. The one i have could barely run Oblivion, and not very smoothly.
I am satisfied with playing on console, tho i must keep myself from looking at sites like the Nexus nowadays, cause those Skyrim mods make me so damn envious :3
Eventually i will get me Skyrim on pc,but a kick-ass rig is no in my priority list so far...

But on topic,as long as i dont look at too much modded Skyrim pictures or video's,no i dont feel left out... :D

There will be more patches, I'm sure most of the major bugs will be sorted out in time.

Some form of "hay guis were doing this atm ..." would be nice though.

If you've been around a while, and it sounds as if you have OP, then you know what to expect when you buy your console version of the game.

We never will have unofficial patches and we never get mods but that part isn't Bethesda's fault.

What is their fault is releasing the game with major flaws (ie PS3 lag issue and the fact it still persists somewhat). I know bugs and glitches are expected of a game that is this big but on the other hand Bethesda has been doing this a long time now and I expect more for the quality of their games.

All in all I don't feel left out. It's not as if Bethesda can just skip around Microsoft's/Sony's policies regarding their systems. They should release their game in a better state so we wouldn't have to need as many patches though.

That's the price of console gaming.

You get a system that is somewhat portable and is more reliable in terms of hardware and software compatability. With the games, you can just stick the disk in, quick install and patch and away you go. You don't have to worry about hardware requirements, having too many background programs running or making sure drivers are all up to date.

With the PC, sure we get mods, but in return we deal with a system that is often heavy, requires a million miles of cabling, comes in potentially millions of different combinations of hardware and software and games require you to actually meet a variety of hardware and software requirements.

And as pointed out, Bethesda are still working on fixes and there's no neglect. The lack of mods on consoles is down to MS and Sony disallowing it.

^I like this.

As a console gamer, I understand the limitations of consoles compared to PCs. I also recognize that there are complexities and variations in hardware/software that give PC users their own set of issues. I never take a side either way, although I don't game on PC. I acknowledge both as viable gaming platforms, with pros and cons, just like anything else.

I would love if Mods became available as DLC for consoles. There are some amazing things that people come up with, and I envy PC gamers those options, even if the Mods come with their own headaches

Do they now? They do it for the 'show-off' factor. I'm sure most of them would be fine with a credit flash screen and being able to add it to their resume.

And you would be fine with someone taking your work, and charging money for it, none of which you would ever see, and just get a brief "credit" for it????? Terribly sorry...... I am not quite so magnanimous. Nor, I suspect, are most other modders.....

Depends upon how much Bethesda charged for it. If it were just a bit to cover expenses and make a minor profit it would be no problem for me.

And what does that say about you? Slap on your suit and join the machine. :P All of the modders are doing it for free now and I'm pretty sure many would still do it for just a little credit on a splash screen to impress chicks if for no other reason.

Yeah, because if there's one thing that really pulls in the ladies it's spending hours and hours making modifications to a computer role playing game.

PC costs more and that's why it gets more. That's how it works, period.

I'm sure ladies find shouting nonsense at your Kinect very appealing.

*raises hand* Of course, not only am I a "gamer nerd" (if considerably older than a "chick" - heh, more like the stringiest, toughest hen in the coop....) I am also one who spends HOURS looking for the perfect mods....

Oh, some modders are putting discreet links to donate sort of things. That's fine, and I have actually donated to a couple of people whose mods I simply can't play without. But that's my choice....

Nah, got used to PC's having mods way back when with Morrowind, but you make a good point on the "fixes" thing though. If they gave us access to console command a lot of the minor bugs could be cleaned up by us, atomic nirnroot and garbage being two examples off the top of my head. Who knows maybe the next gen. console will be able to run a lot of the mods out there, the Tech. already exists ( devkit console ) just waiting for Micro. and Sony to smarten up.

Kids these days don't know how good they've got it. When I was in high-school (pre-Y2k), the only nerd chicks were in theater arts or the marching band. Today you have WoW weddings and Olivia Munn.
