Any other console Gamers feeling left out?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:30 pm

I've always been a ps3 gamer, since Oblivion, fallout ect. So obviously I've never used mods or steam.

Obviously Bethesda's games are full of bugs, however we've always dealt with them, and been patient for them to release patches. As we have no other way of fixing these bugs.

PC gamers can use mods to fix bugs, add cool things, use steam ect.
Yet with new GameBreaking bugs - namely the 'Atomic Nirnroot' - in Skyrim, (ones that PC players can fix), we've been waiting for a patch.
Doesn't it feel like console users are being neglected by Bethesda, while we've had more problems than PC gamers?

That's the price of console gaming.

You get a system that is somewhat portable and is more reliable in terms of hardware and software compatability. With the games, you can just stick the disk in, quick install and patch and away you go. You don't have to worry about hardware requirements, having too many background programs running or making sure drivers are all up to date.

With the PC, sure we get mods, but in return we deal with a system that is often heavy, requires a million miles of cabling, comes in potentially millions of different combinations of hardware and software and games require you to actually meet a variety of hardware and software requirements.

And as pointed out, Bethesda are still working on fixes and there's no neglect. The lack of mods on consoles is down to MS and Sony disallowing it.

I think they could be a little bit better on communicating what they're working on when it comes to patches, but as long as they haven't actually stopped making them yet I'm not too bothered.

As a PS3 owner, I am a little upset that both PC and Xbox360 are getting exclusive things to them. I'm okay with the mods not coming to consoles because that's a logistics and legal nightmare, but the Kinect exclusivity thing rubs me the wrong way.

I knew Microsoft made a deal to have DLC be exclusive to them for a month, but suddenly they're getting exclusive content. If this had been announced before launch I could say I knew what I was getting into, but to say the deal was such and such and suddenly change it after I've already bought the game doesn't seem fair.

I somehow doubt Bethesda will actually fix the nearly 1000 or more documented bugs in the game. Lucky for me, there's always the fix pack, but yeah...not exactly a good show for those on consoles, as I don't think they even fixed all the bugs in Oblivion, Fallout 3, or other titles for the consoles. Bethesda's games are notoriously buggy, and they aren't exactly known for going above and beyond the bare minimum of effort.

Maybe 'Neglected' wasn't the right word lol.
But despite the fact PC gamers need to have all the right compatibility, they still get MORE. No waiting for patches, added cool stuff.

It's just, they release a patch that adds better under water graphics (awesome), and ranged killcams (more awesome), but didn't fix the nirnroot bug before?

After all, what good are killcams when you can only play the game to a certain extent :P

There will be more patches, I'm sure most of the major bugs will be sorted out in time.

They get more because PCs are more flexible than consoles
The limitations of consoles aren't exactly unknown, save up for a PC if you want mods
Mods can be a mixed blessing. If you don't know what you're doing they can add more bugs than they solve

Yes, I did.

But it's hard to PLAY the game with bugs that I can't fix.
I'm not bothered about the fact I can't use mods, the only reason I mentioned them is because PC players can use them to fix said bugs.

Also, buying a PC to play games on is a waste of money to me, I have no other need for them. Plus it sounds far too confusing :P

Considering the TES series didn't even start on consoles to begin with... :P

We all know the only reason there are TES games on consoles is because they wanted to cash in on the franchise...

Nope. I've run into far less bugs on my PS3 than my friend on a PC.
And Bethesda's games are always buggy. Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion all still have bugs in them. We've been very lucky with Skyrim in the sense that Beth are fixing them - I've been told that we've had more patches in Skyrim than Morrowind and Oblivion put together.

you will rarely find a game with little or no bugs on release these days
Games have become too complex to be 100% bugfree, and since games for 'console only 'tends to be less complex than their pc versions it is normal console games run overall smoother , add the fact that you only have 3 major consoles on the market it is only normal console games are less buggy , compare that to the PC market and the vast number of different videocards available
you have seen the difference in graphic and gameplay between console and pc i pressume , well what would you prefer the relative simplicity and dull graphics of a console , or the breathtaking beauty and flexibility of a pc

oohh and please don't tell me console players feel left out
who is going to get the DLC first ,
that is unfair

Every time I try to play a TES game on a PC it crashes every 5-10 minutes or so and I end up buying the console version just so I can play it at all. ( Morrowwind on the console only crashed every 15 minutes, so I at least had time to save my game between crashes. ) I do wish they could turn some of the better mods into console DLC . I wouldn't even mind paying for it because I could use the $50 i saved by not buying an unplayable PC version this time.

Left out. Yes.

Kept in the dark. Yes.

Bethesda seriously need to do something for the PS3 owners, Microsoft get everything, completely unfair in my view. A big ideology of Bethesda seems to be the care and devotion they have towards their customers, and in some respects, it shows. But giving one section of their fanbase privileges just shows they can be bought out. If they care, they should care equally.

However, I also point the finger of blame at Sony (they actually make me livid sometimes). All they do is sit on their fat, incompetent arses while Xbox is out getting the sweet deals - for example the Kinect integration, where's the PS3 equivalent? Where's the Oblivion dlc? Where's the Witcher 2? PS3 was supposed to be so much better than Xbox, and like a fool I was led in.

F*cking Sony.

Ok boys and girls, this is a game and a awsome game at that. I play at home on a PS3 by choice (never even considered buying the PC version). I have freinds that play on PC; all they do is complain about this or the graphics on that. Personally I like paying Skyrim on the PS3 and the 65 inch flatscreen on the wall. I am not conerned with a few pixels while I am swimming from one riverbank to the other. I have had 2 characters go past level fifty and played the majority of the questsand have checked off most the site in my manual. I am on my third character (I get bored once you turn into the demigod satus after level 45 or so). I have never had a meltdown as described on this site beyond a few feeze ups that was cured by a restart and loading the last save. I lost a little of the advendtures on the 2 or three times it happened but really considering the pluses of the game this is minor.

I gave up on PC games years ago for the main reason that I don't want to feed 'the machine' by chasing upgrades every time I buy a new game. I'm not into spending $500 for the best video card every 6 months for a slight upgrade in graphics and 'bragging rights' about having the best system in the cyber world. I would like to be able to play around with some of the mods, but it's not worth it to me to have one awesome PC and a stockpile of good and decent components laying around that I've swapped out to be able to maintain enough frames per second to keep the lag down.

Ultimately you have to make the choice of which type of headache you'll have.

I have both PC and 360 Skyirm, I just use the PC to access the console to improve my 360 saves. Not having mods svcks, but I'm able to circumvent and fix a lot of things previously unavailable. I can increase stats as if enchanting so I can use cool looking armor and weapons with the same amount of usefulness as if it were totally enchanted Daedric/Dragonscale stuff, so that's neat. My 360 has been good to me, so I'd like to stick with it for as long as possible.

This. ^

I wish Bethesda would select some of the coolest ones, 'certify' them and then release them as DLC packs for a few bucks each. The main problem with this (for me - I know the main problem with most everyone else would be charging money for them) is that the cool 'trashy' ones would never be approved/certified by Bethesda.
