I really like the motel room in Novac... would have been perfect if not for those blood stains on the carpet.

Not sure how I missed this before, but the Brotherhood Safehouse has both kinds of work benches, radiation-free water, and a dude who will repair stuff for you. Only one loading screen to get in, and has a map marker, as pointed out. Nearest campfire (I think) is a relatively short walk to Raul's Shack. Only downside compared to Novac is a lack of merchants to sell to (or location, if you don't use fast travel).

Use the brotherhood safehouse. It has a guy to repair youre stuff, a bed, several lockers, work benches, and some power armour, tesla cannon, minigun, lazer minigun, and ammo. Also it has its own map marker which is a plus. Honestly i dont know why someone would use anywhere else

It's also too dark. :/
But still always my 'home.' I tried a mod that redesigned the room once, including putting workbenches actually inside the room, which imo was overkill. It looked nice, but they took it too far. Removed the chairs, not enough cabinet storage space. I finally figured out how to add/replace textures in the NVGeck/Steam version of the game so I think I'll try my own slight redesign. Gives me something to do.

That BoS bunker for Dead Money is pretty sweet. Reloading Bench and a Work Table, the only thing it's woefully missing is a Hot Plate from the Sierra Madre. If that was in there, the place would be perfect.

...I mean, aside from being a three-room BoS bunker that you can't send your companions to camp. :D

A easier way would be find a interior you like and copy it, then put the entrance on "sealed" room next door.

Novac. It's just more convenient for me.

I really *want* to love the Lucky 38 suite but... those [censored] load screens infuriate me (I stop in at my virtual residence very, very often to drop stuff off, pick stuff up, etc. and there's nothing worse than having 1/4 of your game time spend on load screens).

The loading screens are definitely annoying, and there is no way around it for a console player. That being said, I just can' bring myself to ditch my classy Presidential Suite for some shack or faction safehouse. It may be fitting for some, but the future King of the Mojave can't be living in a place far from civilization, can he? The Presidential Suite is the most obvious choice for me, despite the loading screens. Also, the lighting in the various shacks is terrible.

I think the number of houses for player is indeed for hardcoe, but what makes me stay in Novac is the fact that I have to move a 1000pounds of stuff among 2 people and ED-D.

Megaton house as great because it is almost in the middle of CW, I can easily stop by and drop loot when moving place to place; in NV there is no such prime location, rangers safehouse being closest but again suffer 2nd loading (though short). I am also amazed that it doesn't have loading/working bench (can't remember which).

I also agree stove and oven should function as campfire, who say you can't make gecko leather with a stove lol

Novac isn't in the middle of the map?? I prolly should get my eyes checked then... The only problem I have with player housing is the fact you have to wait for it. There should be a nice little shack for you in Goodsprings.

I don't use true player housing, so i have no issues with the selection of homes to choose from. Living in Nipton gives me almost everything I need, except for maybe a merchant.

i start off just usin a crate by the side of goodsprings store to keep stuff in and gradually as i move around the map
use the other places around the map leaving supplies in each that way dont need to travel too far often when i
need stuff.dont like the places at the steip coz takes you ages to get in and out though you usually just wanna make
a quick pit stop its kinda annoyin

I love the Dino-d-Lite. But the underground hideout mod sounds excellent.

I never explore random houses much, but I really should. I just never settle down, because I'm a Mighty Mighty Man and I'm in my Prime! I never feel vulnerable for the need to have a room at all. All extra items I sell, I only keep what I use. I use all of 5-6 weapons with a few armors and that's it. I'm basically a hobo. However, if I do settle down, it's a tradition to place a Caravan Shotgun beside the toilet, just in case somebody catches me off guard taking a dump.

Unlike FO3, (and Oblvion, for that matter) where I used the housing extensively and spent considerable time decorating, I just didn't bother with F:NV. The only time I used the Presidential Suite was to swap companions. As you say, it's too much of a pain to get to. There are enough bed rolls, camp fires and benches scattered around the Mojave to make going "home" largely pointless. I also have a tendency to use the companions much more in this game than FO3, so having a couple of walking storage areas meant I didn't have much need to store stuff elsewhere.

The other thing is that the Megaton shack always felt like it was mine (same as the Oblivion housing) whereas a room in a hotel does not, so I didn't really care about personalising the space. Much like real life, in fact.
