Anyone else rarely using shouts?

I did not for the first 20 hours, but once I got some more useful shouts I started using them quite a bit. Especially when Im about to get owned

I use sneak a lot, and therefore, Aurawhisper is used almost constantly while in a cave/dungeon/etc. Otherwise, I use some on dragons, and occasionally to avoid being swamped, I'll use FUS or firebreath. On a few occasions I've remembered whirlwind sprint and used it. I do like the ethereal one... very convenient.

But not nearly as often as I expected, for two reasons: if I kill something with it, I get no experience for that kill. And their recharge time is very inconvenient.

VERY good point on the no experience bit. I think Bethesda should have given us incentive to use Shouts... like smaller cooldown times the more you use them, or getting even more powerful over time.

I use shouts all the time with my 2-handed fighter. They add a lot of tactical flexibility to my character.

I used it less than I thought I would, which often made boss fights harder than they had to. Not because I didn't want to, but because I simply forgot they were there.

Although I did manage to wrap my head around FUS ROH DAH, and used that one quite a bit. Very handy to blow two draugr to kingdom come so you can focus on fighting the one that managed to duck the shout. :toughninja:

I do find them useful, however I try not to count on them too much as quite often I press the button, I hear the shout words but nothing actually happens. Can be a right pain sometimes.

Many of the shouts I've found just aren't that useful until you get all three words--I never used "Fus Ro." But once I got "Fus Ro Dah," it was on. I use it all the time.

And now that I have all three words of Ice Form, I've been using that a lot. Great for literally refrigerating attackers until you're ready to deal with them (or, in my case, until my conjure is ready to deal with them. Although my conjures have a tendency to smash the iced enemies prematurely, rather than letting them chill to get the maximum damage over time.)

I'm finding little use for the Whirlwind Sprint, although there have been a couple of dungeons in which it's allowed me to reach otherwise inaccessible ledges.

But after Unrelenting Force and Ice Form, my most-used shout is probably Kyne's Peace. Even though I have only one word of it so far, I use it all the time in the wilderness. Not because I have to but because I just don't want to spend the time wrangling with bears and wolves anymore. I've got enough leather.
