Anyone feel that its a little too dense?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:08 am

Don't get me wrong i like the amount of content, but at any one time i can see atleast three dungeons on my compass and usually theres a POI somewhere close too. Its hard for me to go anywhere without getting sidetracked because of this.
I think it should be just a bit more spread out.

I would've appreciated more wilderness. The casual gamer would not.

I think they got it about right. Sometimes I ignore newly discovered places that I don't have a quest for yet. I want the quest before I go in. Sometimes I just go charging in and clear it out. The game does not force you into every cave fort or dungeon, you choose.

I find it hard to argue against having extra content, especially dungeons.

Seems fine to me honestly, but looking at this map does make it seem crowded :

It isn't crowded of course, there are miles of barren snow fields and ice.

Do you mean when your exploring the world? because i find it the opposite, i find the world to be alittle to boring sometimes usually only creatures tring to hurt me or bandits, no real exploreres other than me. Not alot of friendly faces out in the wild so getting to where you have to go is pretty easy.

The compass is the problem imo... it shows you everything..... The density of dungeons is good. I'll remove it with mods but since most quests are not descriptive about the location it's still gonna be a problem...

All the content is smashed together cheek to jowel without a doubt. And, there is so much content that getting it all to work together was impossible.

THUS: Less content = less conflict between in game systems = more time to test remaining content = better running game

Less content = better game.

A casual gamer would likely just want to do quests, whereas others may want to just go out free roaming.

Like someone said above, I just can't argue against more content. If you want a smaller world in a game like skyrim, you are probably playing the wrong game.

While I would like a bigger map, it isn't terribly important.

this was discussed prior to release and I agreed with it, but it really can't be controlled by beth Skyrim is the same size (somewhat smaller) then Oblivion was with much more content.

Less content = better game.

Resources be damned, this statement is so full of fail that PS3 owners just got a free hour of play without framerate issues.

Think it's pretty ok, Oblivion was to crowded with dungeons around the IC,

The default timescale is 30 (I think). Anyway, I find that when just walking across the map, this increase in time makes the game feel bigger than it actually is. I always set my timescale to 1 so game time matches real time. It makes dungeon crawls a little more realistic, time wise, but in makes the open map out to be the small size it really is. I agree with the OP. The amount of content is fine, it's just the world map should've been made big enough so that after a couple minutes (real time) walking and looking around you might get an icon appear on your compass of some nearby landmark (ruin, cave, city, etc.).

Basically the entire size of Skyrim, should have been the size of just one of the holds in Skyrim.

What the hell are you talking about. Less content = better game, on an RPG like skyrim, absolute rubbish. Maybe for an action game like call of duty, but for a game designed for you to go out and experience the world, do quests etc, more content always = better game.

I really wish people on consoles had the option to change this, I would really like to change mine to 1:10, possibly 1:15. Does it cause any quest problems?

because adding forgettable valley 1-20 to the game would add so much to gameplay

I'm completely confused.

First it's not enough content, Oblivion, Mowind had more.

Now it's, too much content, less means more focus...

He posts like that all the time. Little dig here little dig there, here a dig there a dig, everywhere a dig-dig.

He doesn't feel that Skyrim is for the real TES player, the RPG fan. He's on a level most of us hope one day to comprehend
