Archery is very underpowered.

So how is using a mouse to play soo much better than a gamepad? Please explain this theory.

i can aim faster and more accurately without having to fiddle with a joystick. i just move my mouse and stop and it moves and stops.

You must also take into consideration you have much more experience with a mouse than a gamepad. For me I know I'd be terrible with a mouse simply because it would be unfamiliar and akward to me. Whereas I have nearly the same control that you mention with my 360 pad.

Just pointing out that not using a mouse is probably not this guys problem.

Archery + Sneak and/or Archery+Power Shot+Quick Shot+Bullseye perks are pretty overpowered. I suppose if enemies ever get in close to you it svcks, but generally you'd have to play w/out sneak and without the stagger talent to let that happen often, and it kind of makes sense for archery to have at least one weakness. Fast/multiple enemies are the only thing that can potentially be an issue for it really.

Also mouse is unquestionably better speed and precision than gamepad, it's why FPS on PC is an entirely different experience than on consoles.

Well, I like Archery in Skyrim, and as others have mentioned, a combination of smithing, perks in Archery and Sneak, and leveling the skills up can make you very, very deadly indeed.

The only thing about it is that you need to learn how to use the cross-hairs, and learn how the arrows fly when hitting targets at different distances to get head shots. I'm still getting the hang of it myself!

Are you not upgrading your bows?

I'm lvl38 with an Nightingale bow (Epic) and Deadric arrows. I can one shot Most enemies without poisons.

Are you using any items to boost your damage with a bow? I'm wearing both the Shrouded cowl 20% bow damage and the Ancient shrouded cowl with 35%. Yes I got a lucky glitch, the ancient cowl doesn't appear on my characters head, so I can wear a second item on my head and the AR and enchantments stack.

it's not a lucky glitch. you used console commands, because the ancient cowl there doesn't work right.

I do not feel under powered at all with Archery. I am level 41 with a Daedric Bow: 27 Frost Damage and Soul Trap and can 2 shot a Giant on High Difficulty. Slightly off topic but in a way I just thought maybe it was the gimper exploiters crying about being over powered. I have full Glass Armor with double enchantments along with Double enchanted Daedric Sword and Bow. I have medium one handed and archery and without exploits I feel overpowered. I was never one to like higher difficulties, but I had to keep pushing it up the last day or so to make it interesting.

Wow, I definitely do not feel the same way about archery as you do....from all that time playing Oblivion....(filling scamps with gazillions of arrows) i think Skyrim archery is MUCH more powerful.....and you can't honestly expect to one-shot everything can you? I don't see where you're coming from at all....but that's cool, everyone looks at things differently....but all you can hope for is that you don't have to fill average enemies with a [censored]ton of arrows...and you have that at least :) Merry Chrimbus

At early stages, Archery is insanely underpowered, dealing about 10 damage per shot, when most low level enemies have about 50-100, taking 5-10 arrows, quite clearly.

Later stages, they still feel a little underpowered, mine does about 60 damage per shot, but very few enemies can it one shot kill.

They need to give it a bit of a boost, because even with the perks, it's not powerful enough.
ur mad cuz it doesnt 1 shot? WTF

Not trying to argue for the sake of it, but just wanted to point out that in Skyrim, a Headshot makes no difference at all. sure it looks cool, but a shot into someone's foot does exactly the same damage as a shot to the head. So all you need to do it hit the target tbh.....

I had to lol at the thread title. I'm playing an archer currently and she slays everything in her path, including the big bads. I think you're doing it wrong. Are you stealthing? The stealth bonus is everything.

Archery is overpowered, most enemies I can kill first shot if i'm sneaking and I don't even have any points in sneak.

I don't Smith any weapons. I have a 53 dmg ebony bow, with basic 18 dmg fire enchantment, and it kills mostly everything, mammoths and giants included, in less than 3-5 shots when sneaking... Little overpowered for my taste.

It balances out pretty well around level 30. I augment with alchemy poisons and fire enchants a bit, but by that level I'm easilly 1-shotting giants. Granted, that's with the 3x sneak damage perk.
If you have sneak as one of the main skill then archery would be a lot more beneficial, if not then I don't see why even using it, there are lots of other way to do high damage range attack.

No, no they don't. I've stopped using my legendary Daedric bow for sneak attacks since it just makes the game too damn easy. I routinely do about 450 damage with a sneak attack, Archery maxed out, and a couple magic items that boost bow damage. I practically one-shot dragons at this point. During the 145 hours I've played the game so far, I've never felt archery was underpowered. The opposite, maybe.

I can understand the part for low level archery training. More or less a pain with a master setting, but quite rewarding later on. The cons do not seem to out weigh the pros though.

Using enchanting I put 4 +45% enchants on my bow damage. I only got 65 archery and 3 perks into that tree, I can do over 900 damage with a sneak shot. And it can be a lot crazier, depending on how you do it.

its not a console command. the ancient cowl doesnt work correctly in the game and you can wear another piece of headgear over it. that's just a default bug in the game. the same thing occurs with the falmer helmets.

I agree since you move using the left anolog, aim using the right anolog and hit enemy using the buttons which I think is frustrating in console FPS. Though I might be wrong since I don't play Elder Scrolls on console...

You must be kidding, archery is underpowered? Well i guess im imagining myself doing sneak attacks that usually 1 shot monsters and slowing time by aiming, paralyzing enemies on chance. Well thats just me i guess.... ( And for the record archery in console is very easy.)
