Arwen's NV Realism Tweaks [thread #3]

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 6:40 pm

Fabulous release. I just followed the install instructions (again, lol.) and updated my game with the latest version. Need to load up my game from that save, equip everything again, and watch the wonderfulness at work. :)

Arwen - great release! Loved your FO3 stuff, was holding off for this version to plug it into NV.

One quick question. Does your armor/weapon/everything rebalance conflict with the prefix sorter mod? http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34950

It adds prefixes to just about everything OTHER than armor and weapons so they are easier to find in inventory. I'm just too much of a non-modder to know if his changing the names would screw up any changes in items... and if you actually changed any non weapon/armor items yet.

Either way, thanks again for all the work you've done.

Use Wrye Flash. Tag Arwen's mod with "stats", tag the other one with "names" and let WF create a patch for them.

Arwen, thanks for the answer, I'll check your camera mod to see if if that is indeed the setting. Not to sure about removing zoom from non scoped weapons (I liked that feature) but I'll test it and give some feedback.

I'll be releasing version 1.4.1 later today . . . just as soon as I feel that all the major issues for v.1.4 have been reported and fixed.

The baseball bat really got messed up in a few settings, the huge DAM increase being the biggest error. I'm not sure what happened, but I'll fix it.

Version v.1.4.1 will also restore all the default FOV settings to the ranged weapons. I tested my changes with every weapon and tried a few with their mod kit scopes, which seemed to work ok, but apparently changing the FOV also reduces the zoom on all the more powerful scopes. The non-zoom FOV is not all that important . . . it was just something that I personally liked, but I would never have added it if I knew that it might mess up the added scopes. Oh well, at least it is an easy fix that will just take me a couple of minutes to do.

PLEASE let me know of anything at all that seems to be unbalanced or any other issues at all, as I want to fix everything as soon as possible. Version 1.4 was a major update, as it included a TON of changes . . . so I'm not surprised to discover that it needs some patching this morning.

@ Grunthex: I'm pretty sure that the two mods will not be compatible without a compatibility patch. I'm not going to be making any patches for any other mods until I complete the rest of my modules. After my mod is finished I'll consider making a few patches.

I haven't had any problems with ART and Inventory Sorters. I have created a merged patch and MasterUpdated with FNVEdit, incase it matters.

Do NOT use my Realism Tweaks in a Merged Patch. Overhauls should NEVER be included in a merged patch (users were ALWAYS doing this with my FO3 Realism Tweaks and with FWE, and then they complained that our mods were messed up, and that they were not making the changes they were suppose to). If you must make a merged patch for your other mods, make sure that you load my Realism Core esp AFTER it. I haven't heard of any reason to use Master Update with NV.

Removed the zoomed in view when aiming most non-scoped range weapons (most 2-hand handle and launchers were left at default). This applies to both 1st and 3rd person views.

I had some doubts about this when I first read it, but I just gave it a try and I actually really like it.

Yeah, I really liked it too . . . unfortunately it messes up things when you add scopes with the gun's modded kits. :(
So it will be removed in v.1.4.1 (which I'll be releasing as soon as I feel like there are no other major issues/bugs).

Ah, too bad. Would it still work for the Fallout 3 version of the mod?

You know, the moment I pressed RMB to aim I liked the fact that it didn't zoom in XD I didn't check to see how scope mods work but do they feature something like -X to FOV? Couldn't you modify the scope mods in such a way that they undo the FOV edits of the normal weapon when the weapon has a scope mod?

(does the above sentence make any sense?)

Also maybe it's time to start a new thread...?

Yes, I can do that with some of the weapons, but it involves an extra step, and this fix doesn't seem to work correctly for many of the rifles . I'll see if I can at least keep the pistols non-zoomed.
