Thing is though, he didn't cheat. some one else used his account and cheated while using it, and last time I checked it was not illegal to let some one borrow you'r XBL account, more so if the person in question was a family member or close friend.

And? It's ALWAYS been MS's policy that you're responsible for what other people do with YOUR account. Why would it be any other way?

I have done it before, with my friends who only wanted to play a game or two.

So, he got punished, because some one else used his account and was cheating while doing so.

He gave them his account his mother thought it wasnt a big deal because credit cards werent envolved.
If I hire someone to kill someone I am still a murder.

But, I think that Micro$ofts retaliation was a bit over excessive. Sure, he gave his gamertag info to someone, that someone cheated, ok. Just remove those achievements. This the first time. Now, if he did it again, then sure, wipe his account.

What if he wasn't autistic? Would he still get this special treatment?

This has probably happened thousands of times, but they weren't autistic. And if this happened to a minority, they would said that MS is being racist.

I love how people are treating this like it's actually newsworthy. Good grief, it's Xbox Live, probably the single least thing worth getting worked up over.

What's next? "National scandal as boy with no legs calls someone a [censored] in Halo. Microsoft doesn't retaliate, are they giving people special treatment?"

Cheating is cheating , you're responsible for your account if you decided to give that account to someone else so they can give you a armor/achievement is your responsibility also.

Theres a reason they always say " DO NOT GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFO TO NO ONE " in the contract.

He's probably going to have to change his account now anyway, seeing as how his name is in the articles.

 That doesn't make sense in the way you think it does

But seriously, I hope their aren't people who are going too say "MICROSOFT HATE's AUTISM" because it has nothing to do with the case, it's not like MS were any tougher on him because he was autistic,

it mostly for hackers ectt but i have met most people that would give there account info ( mostly in WoW) so the people can get a in game pet or proto drake and been banned because the way they were doing it was wrong , so i also take it like it is , if you are responsible for you account and you give ti to somebody else and he does something illegal it also your responsibility ( thats how i see it ) .

I know what you meant :), but it two negatives equal a positive in speech, so "telling nothing to no-one" is telling them something, Just being a nitpick

Autism is no excuse for cheating and besides did they even do the reseach if he was low or high functioning because if he is indeed high functioning then yes he should be held accountable to some degree at least. If the opposite is true and the kid is low functioning then the mother should be held accountable more so when she has chosen to lie about it. I can't really say that I feel sorry for them nor should this even be a big deal just because the defendent uses the special treatment card and happens to have Autism.

if you loan someone your car and they park it next to a fire hydrant, you get the ticket, not your friend. then you can only hope that your friend will pay you back

This is idiotic. I could see - maybe - if he had some terminal disease like Cancer why this would be a big deal, but he has autism. I find it disgusting that the media can spin this into some sort of horrible tragedy.

So, I have this video of 2 people cheating on a Free For All ranked match in Black Ops.
Both people are in a room, there is only 2 entrances to the room, one of them watched one entrance, the other watched the other. They are clearly cheating. How do I get Microsoft to brand them as cheaters?

How is that cheating? There's nothing wrong with cooperating in an FFA match.

As for the issue raised by the OP, This isn't a big deal. The kid's lucky Microsoft is being nice about everything, and he deserves to lose his achievements for violating the policies of the Xbox live service. But otherwise? who cares?

It's standard procedure for Microsoft to put "Cheater" next to the gamertag of everyone who cheats. If he cheated, that's what is going to happen. The only reason this story is remarkable is because the kid has autism. It's not like they beat him with a baseball bat, just got rid of his achievements. Big deal..

I concur.

Get everyone else in the lobby to report their Gamertag for cheating. 3 reports is all you need for a temporary suspension and a warning notice. Plus, the reason that case isn't as extreme is because once the match is done; they can no longer cheat. Achievements stay forever.

This match was back when Black Ops first came out. I saved the video, only because it was my first time coming 1st place in a FFA ranked match.

I rewatched the video and notcied I got a double kill for throwing a grenade into a building, when I went to investigate the double kill I saw both guys clearly cheating. I dont want them to have a bad rating, I want their achievements erased and Cheater branded onto heir gamertag.

How is that cheating? There's nothing wrong with cooperating in an FFA match.

For real? Your on a gaming forums and you dont see it as cheating? It is a Free For All match, a standard deathmatch game, ranked, a every man for themselves game. Cooperating in a FFA game is cheating... obviously... Just to mention it, you can't join a FFA matching lobby with a party.... if that counts for anything.
