Is there a link to confirm these features will in fact be implemented?
Also, remember giving the fans what they want can be a double-edged sword with a polarized community... when half of it wants more immersion and hardcoe features and the other half just wants a fun game to play with no "seriousness" about it... well that can lead to even more *gulp* streamlining. DUN DUN DUNNNNN
I'm part of the side of the fanbase who wants both sides, personally. The game isn't perfect, and I accept that. There are times when "streamlining" is a good idea, though. I know just saying that is already making someone scream tons of obscenities, but whatever. Games like Ultima 7 were more fun to play when the type in command stuff was replaced with prechosen commands you clicked on. Why was that good? It meant we didn't have to type in random stuff just to find out if, say, the old man under the tree would give you a ring or something.
If we kept in the class limitations that were found in Daggerfall, there'd be less freedom. I like that Daggerfall had the limitations on classes for what they could use, but it was something that was best taken out later on. Let's not forget about when platformers were basically streamlined thanks to the Famicom and NES game called Super Mario Bros. If it wasn't for that game, we would never have been able to jump in more platformers. Before Super Mario Bros. was around, platformers were stiffer in everything most of the time. The controls of the first Castlevania were less stiff, in fact.
Then there's the GBA Pokemon games. They streamlined the more advanced way to train Pokemon. That was good.
Not all streamlining is bad. It's just that you need to find what requires simplistic use and what doesn't. Skyrim is an example of what can go wrong.
