If Bethesda made an MMORPG...

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:57 pm

I feel any MMO ruins single player games the MMO is based off of. Look at Warcraft since WoW nothing has been mentioned about Warcraft IV. Then look at Star Wars The Old Republic and then look at KOTOR nothing has been mentioned about the third one in that series. I do not want my beloved Elder Scrolls to follow that path. Also MMOs gouge you for your money.

Probably because TOR is KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. It has more content than all Bioware games to date.

That's the joy of an MMO, you don't really need another game because you can update the current one. I doubt I'd buy a Bethesda MMO however. While I love the style for their single player RPGs, I much prefer the themepark style for MMOs.

Replace deep, single player gameplay with "kill 10 wolves, kill 20 bears, kill the boss troll, well done now go do the same things with reskinned, larger versions!"

I'll pass. MMOs are awful.

As opposed to "Go to this cave, kill everything in it, and bring me back this item that is actually worth more than what I will give you for bringing it back?"

MMOs don't even need quests to be successful. Case and point: Ultima Online.

All I want is a co op option for a regular TES or Fallout game. That would be really awesome.

More content but less substance. All MMOs eventually end up being an endless grind where you do the same thing over and over. The stories in MMOs suffer and I play games for stories.

No, because that's not my style. I've played one multi player game in my life (over 40), I found myself playing against the computer instead. It was then I decided to find a good single player game that I could enjoy and go wherever I wanted and do whatever I felt like. That's when I found TES (about 4 years now), I haven't looked back since.

i fell like theres just as much if not more freedom if bethesda was an mmo, plus it adds that competitive edge, it would be amazing not gonna be able to do it on 360 tho maybe next gen.

Likely not, I am particular about MMORPGs, and usually there are certain design decisions when making them, which are used to make the game conducive to addiction, to keep people playing. Grinding, as it's commonly called, is one of such designs.

Bethesda IMO plays to it's strengths, which currently are things that generally work best in single player games(immersive and open game worlds based on "lore"). If they made a multiplayer game, their weakness of combat design and balancing would likely be a major problem.

If they make an MMO, the lore would have to be thrown out the window. It would become uninteresting. Can't observe Bosmer culture because everyone is running around like idiots.

I would without second thought buy a 2-4 player co-op for Skyrim but idk about MMOs considering I hate them along with all other fantasy games.

I don't think Beth has the skill to do such a thing. And help.

MMO? I don't think Bethesda is willing to abuse their fans that way.

It would probably resemble Darkfall Online. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to you.

Probably not, I don't get into multiplayer games as much, the farthest I would go in that regard is 2-player coop now that would be fun.

If Turbine can do it, Bethesda certainly has the "skill." Turbine is pathetically terrible, yet still managed a good game in Lord of the Rings Online. Well, at least for the first three years or so of the game's existence.

I hate MMOs and I certainly hope Bethesda never makes one. Especially since they can put that time into a new Fallout title.

If it were a WoW clone, no. If, somehow, they created a game with the role-playing and gameplay aspects of TES games and the multiplayer and volume of content of an MMO, it would blow me away.
