Bethesda: Please make an Age Slider

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:49 pm

I know most don't really care what their character looks like, but for those of use who do I am making a plea in hopes Bethesda notices the need for an age slider.

I don't expect much, and as a console player I'd really like to just have the option to remove all those wrinkles. I am sure this has been done to death, but I think Bethesda looks on here some, so if you feel the same please help me keep this thread current.

Thanks.

Although my character don't have wrinkles (that I can see...) , an age slider would be nice.

I thought there was an age slider. Or at least one that made your face look more or less wrinkled.

There is. It's the complexion slider. To the left you are around 20 to the right you are around 50.

not going to happen.

there's already an "Elder" race that defines the "old" characters in the game.

This. I used complexion to make a woman in her 60's

You can also make teenage characters.

I completley disagree with this statement ... you can definetly make them look older, but in no way does the complection slider make a male character look anywhere close to even someone in their 20's

Exactly. The fact that we dont have direct, simple control over a major part of what our characters look like, especially since it wasn't an issie in Oblivion, is unacceptable. If we have choice in this game, we should be able to change basic aspects of our characters. I'm tired of everyone looking either 30-40 or 80. It's rediculous and unrealistic. It's also bad for roleplaying purposes.

I'd also say a large part of their demographic is 17-25 and while not everyone wants 'themselves' in the game, I'm betting most would like at least a PC that doesn't look 20 years older than them.

The great thing about Bethesda games is creating a character, and age is a huge part of that. There were young looking people in LOTR, and the like - they aren't all bearded, braided hair barbarians.

We should also have the ability to change war paint, hair color, etc. There have been several times when I liked the look of the character I initially created but ended up looking differently than I'd expected upon beginning gameplay. My last character was a female High Elf that looked great upon creation but then in third person she looked kind of like Alice Cooper.

someone said that the age slider is the complexion slider ... but it's not the complexion makes your character more wrinkled or look like they have a rash. even if it's all the way to te left the pc is still heavily wrinkled especially on forehead.

I don't mind the facial hair settings, there is a wide variety. it's the heavy forehead wrinkles and the tired eyes with wrinkles.

Not everyone is a nord though. Imperials both colovian and nibenese, many elves except for dwemer, breton, redguard and others go clean shaven very often. Both in-game and in concept art. But thats neither here nor there since we're talking about age.

You ever think its cause the race. The Dunmer and the Breton both have wrinkles heavily on there forhead. The Dunmer naturally have the tired eye look.

Part of there looks is because of lore, not age.

Yup. They had this in Oblivion and all the Fallouts as well. (In New Vegas, it was just called the 'age' slider though. They simplified it, but it was exactly the same thing)

I've never played as an older character before, but I can definitely see why this would be so important to a lot of people.

The complexion slider just gives you different facial features, including wrinkles. athe fact that there are other features like different facial skin tones if proof that it's not an age slider, unless you randomly get a red face when you turn fourty. Regardless, we can't make our characters, particularly males, look under 35. Particularly bretons and elves, who should have an easy time looking young because they have longer lifespans. Some may not want to look young but why not give us a choice? Why take it away from us?

I'm going to call you on this. I would like to know the "lore" reason why Bretons have wrinkled foreheads and Nords do not.

The same reason that some turtles have round shells, and some have pointy? Clearly the forehead wrinkles are needed for survival.

My Breton looks plenty young. My Breton doesn't look like he's 35.
