Bethesda - Todd Howards sizzle reel should be your DLC

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:05 am

Yeah, a lot of that stuff looked quite interesting....and definitely could make the game much better.

(Also, off-topic but, am I the only one who wants a large resolution wallpaper of Alduin and the werewolf high-fiving from earlier in the presentation? )

How much was the CE? I don't blame you for being mad. But if the dlc is really good, would you not buy it?

$150. And that isn't to say that I wont' eventually get the DLC. But they already have my money as far as I'm concerned. They're not getting anymore of it.

Holy crap, that was an impressive list of additions. It had me at the special cams for spell kills and spell combos. O__O My mage will be a happy blaster...

Spears?

The spears sure as hell better be free DLC. They stripped out a TON of stuff. If they eek it back in trying to milk every penny out of features that used to be free, they won't see a penny out of me.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY 30-40$
Be careful what you wish for.

New skill trees
Sweet zombie jesus!

Medium armor and an armor rebalance stat! You can reach max-damage reduction in LIGHT armor, and reach it in heavy with as cheap as dwarven (with a quest to gain +25% for dwarven). Can you say:
B-R-O-K-E-N
I like BTB's morrowind rebalance for armor. The best light armor provided half the damage reduction of the best heavy armor, while medium armor was perfectly in-between both. Also: No weightless heavy armor bull****. Daedric was HEAVY. There was actually a trade-off. Gasp.

Add medium armor back in just for this: http://images.uesp.net/c/cf/BM_Armor_IceM.jpgfrom Bloodmoon. Stalhrim was a piece of nordic culture in Morrowind. Now in the Nordic homeland of Skyrim it's disturbingly absent.

Stalhrim DLC go go go!

That's one thing I enjoyed as well. But it seems too pivotal to just be thrown in the game. You would need altered skill trees if not new skill trees altogether. (or adding them, like lycanthropy, which would mean a higher level cap I hope)

Yes and yes. I think weightlessness should be a benefit light armor wearers get for sacrificing the armor bonus. Not heavy armor

I want seasonal foliage! Holy crap that would be amazing!

I want more deciduous trees in areas like Falkreath and Solitude - just pine trees everywhere gets a bit monotonous. The trees in Hjaalmarch could appear like that in the winter, but have foliage for the spring and summer and only be a frozen marsh during the winter.

to be brutally honest you were stupid to pay that much anyways the bonus you got was not worth $150 a cheap plastic dragon and a book. Sadly that's ALL your going to get, free DLC is impossible anyways because the game disks are exactly the same so Beth cannot tell the difference even if they wanted too and the CE and its contents were listed out what you are going to get which did not include DLC of any kind or any in game bonus (one of the few things beth did right)

I now exactly how much the CE was worth. As far as I'm concerned, I've already paid for the DLC when I paid for the massively overpriced CE (which I only bought originally to support Beth, because despite what they've been doing I still think they're worth it).

As for free DLC, don't be thick.

lol its terribly sad how little attention this is getting. alright let me break it down for yah

Seasonal foilage
FLow based water shader
Spears.
kill cams for spells and ranged combat
Stealth enhancements like assassins vision, taking out torchesm NPC's can relight them
Paralysis runes

dungeion enhancements like hanging structures/movable, Darker dungeons and flowing water within them (like rivers moving you).
more follower commands, Distance favoriting equipment, training them
Adoption
Building your own home with a skeletal butler
Spell combinations for different effects
Goblins
higher level Draugr
waygate fast travel
Mounted Combat
new epic mounts
Dragon mounts
Soul bug familiar
Kinect shouts
Screen space ambient occlusion
enchanced under water visuals
Snow prints
Verlet surfaces for non rigged objects (curtains draqes oh and a flail weapon
fat giants
fire/ice arrows
werebears
Perk trees for werewolves
Vamp feeding + vamp loard transformation
Mud crab tweeks
and one BIG ASSS MUDCRAB OF DOOM = Boss battle

So basically everything that got cut from the game due to the rush to make the 11/11/11 release date? Sounds like they need to divide the goodies up, give some for free and charge for a package of upgrades.

To be brutally honest, it was stupid for anyone to buy the game at release anyways. Everyone should have already known there will be a fantastic GOTY bundle in a few years. Rent now and burn yourself out, buy when all the content is out at a bargain price and re-discover it. Worked great for the last couple TES installments.

I suspect Bethesda will wait for the next Console release cycle for the next TES installment, which factoring in Dev time for TES VI on top of that means....
I like to think Skyrim will get more DLC than any previous TES installment. Not by actual count of DLC packs, but by new content volume. Of course that would require beating Bloodmoon and Tribunal for sheer added content, but if they're churning out this many new features this soon after the initial release... lets hope they can keep up the pace.

I actually haven't felt this good about a studio promising DLC in a LONG time.

If I played on console yes that is exactly what I would do but I don't, CK alone is worth $60 the base game was nothing more then a hole for modders to fill that $60 spent is just me supporting a AAA developer releasing a public set of mod tools. $150 however is a bit extreme for what the CE offered. Now if it was $90 that's reasonable and it was in some places but $150 is just fools land.

As far as financial affairs goes kid, youve proven to be a bit daft, sorry, no one cares who will or wont get your money.

That stuff was done after the game was released. All of that was done in one week last December by the whole team... it's also only first-attempt rough implementations. They'd likely have bugs out the wazoo if put into a real install, nor would they necessarily be well-balanced and mesh all that well into the existing game.

As it was, Skyrim's development pushed very far toward release and they didn't seem to get as much QA work done as they should've.

Don't sit there and think you know what you're talking about kiddo. I'm extremely good with my money, and I was easily able to afford what I paid. Same thing with my swords, my computer, my truck, and everything else I spend money on.

..yeah, and now youve just drawn the line. LOL. sorry, but if youre attempting to make a point about how beth isnt getting your money, try not to mention you bought the ce, aka the biggest joke of a rip off that theyve ever released. Mw and ob ce were great, skyrims was as shallow as you think the game itself is.

I've seen atleast three posts on "why didn't Bethesda include all this stuff in the game, in the first place?".

The reason they didn't is because the game was probably finished and ready to hit stores.
